This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of March, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [4006], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. Lillian McLaughlin.

Time of Reading Set bet. 10:30 to 11:30 A. M. 101 Park Ave., Taken 11:05 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time. Utica, N.Y.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - this is a lovely person!

3. We have the body here. As we find there are disturbances and these may be corrected, so as to prevent later on a great deal of trouble. In the present there is rather a complication of disturbances.

4. In times back we find that there was an injury, a strain; apparently it was a fall and then there was something lifted afterward, in which there was an injury to the 5th and 6th dorsal center. This has caused a pressure at the area between the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal system - on the left side on the spine - until this gradual pressure, in the form of a lesion there of a circular nature, has caused not a stroke but a tendency for pressures upon the nerve reflexes from the circulation, until the right side of face and head, a portion of the shoulder, arm and hip, reflexes in the ankle, all reflect the pressures indicated. Not that these become other than awarenesses of hindrances as yet, but unless there are corrections, these must gradually cause slowing of circulation through all the activities of the body on the right side.

5. For, as indicated, there is even a variation from this longstanding in the activity of the mammary glands, as indicated even in the size of the breast on the right side. The lobe of the ear also shows a variation. There is the tendency for the eye on the right side of the body to vary in its appearance, as of size, opening or the like.

6. In making corrections we find that first there should be a series of hydrotherapy treatments intermingled with osteopathic corrections. Not too great an amount of heat is needed but a mild heat such as might be had from quite a warm shower, then the Bubble Bath in Pine oils, then the massage or osteopathic adjustments with particular reference to the lesion in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th dorsal area, correcting the reflexes to the 9th dorsal, lumbar axis, 3rd cervical and the 1st and 2nd cervical. Coordinate the corrections made in the area. With these we will find much improved conditions as to the variation in the pulsation, and better coordinated activities in lungs, liver, kidneys and the activities of these organs.

7. Do that.

8. Have at least five to six of the hydrotherapy treatments, giving these about once each week, and at least sixteen of the osteopathic adjustments - in the beginning twice a week until about eight or ten have been given, and then once a week for the rest.

9. In the diet keep a well balanced diet, eliminating too much sugars and keeping a great deal of raw vegetables and fruits.

11. (Q) Is the pain on the left side of neck bone caused from the injury? (A) The injury in the dorsal center makes a heaviness across the base of the brain, at the 1st cervical.

12. (Q) What caused the dark cloud like a roll of black smoke that seemed to envelope me as a child while in bed at night? (A) The sensitiveness of the child in that period of its transition. This should have been cultivated. Do not begin such in the present, except from the angle of prayer and meditation.

13. (Q) Am I in the right vocation and place in regard to my health? (A) This is very, very good. Do not look upon the work or the activity as being obligatory, either for self or for others, but keep the attitude rather that it is as an opportunity to serve others in the way that would be pleasing to the ideal of the body.

14. (Q) Will wearing opals by one who does not have them as birth stone signify ill omens for that person? (A) No, opals will be helpful if there is kept the correct attitude, for it will enable the entity to hold on to self or to prevent those who would be angry from flying off the handle too much.

15. (Q) Any spiritual advice? (A) Keep the attitude that has been indicated. The purposes and ideals are well. Don’t let others confuse thee. For know that the divine is within, that thy body is indeed the temple of the living God. Use it, keep it as such, and let it be as sacred to thee as would be thy worshipfulness; not of body but of purposes in body, in mind, in soul.

Dear Mr. Cayce, -

The Physical Reading received and I have taken it to an Osteopath Physician, Dr. A. C. Hughes [Angie C. Hughes, D.O.], Gas & Electric Bldg., Utica, N.Y., who advises that your diagnosis of my trouble fits in with her opinion. She was greatly interested and I recommended the book “There is a River” which she has promised to read.

I find that Dr. Hughes does not have facilities where she is able to give me anything but the physical treatments, that is she does not have baths or heat as recommended in the reading. Also she is a very busy person and it has been difficult to get treatments close together, so far have managed to get one every week but no more and the reading I believe recommended that I have them close together. I’m not condemning Dr. Hughes as I have found her cooperative, but she already has a great number of older patients, who of course are in as urgent need of treatment as I am.

Will you kindly advise me regarding the Convention? I understand it is in June and what are the requirements to attend such a meeting. Do you make reservations or do we have to make them and about how much could one obtain a room and board for. I have had it in mind to attend if possible, at least for a few days if not for the entire week.

Also kindly advise if you have a hospital or a place where one could come there for treatment and the approximate cost per week, for the type of treatment which I require.

Here I am again -.

AS I’m still feeling not up to par and have a month’s leave of absence from the office - am writing to see if I came to Virginia Beach if you would give me a check reading and try to get me in the hands of a good doctor or osteopath who would treat me according to your diagnosis. Have been having treatments as I wrote you before with Dr. A. C. Hughes but as she does not have equipment to give me the treatment you previously recommended - am writing before I make the trip down there.

Would you please advise if I could get a room & about how much one would cost - also if possible how much the treatments would be.

Enclosed you will find a special delivery stamp, also a regular 3 cent one for your reply.

You also have my Utica address - but as I’ll be at my mother’s home in … Kindly address me there.

We are very sorry to have to tell you that Mr. Cayce is not well, and has been unable to give readings for the past two months.

In fact, he was directed to leave the city, by his own physical reading, and will be gone for an indefinite period.

In view of this, of course it will avail you nothing to make the trip to Virginia Beach, since it is not possible for us to get a check reading for you.

Have you tried Dr. H. J. Reilly in the RCA Building, 1250 Sixth Avenue, New York? It may be that he could be of help to you in carrying out the treatments recommended in your previous reading. Or it might be that he could direct you to someone closer to your home who could cooperate with you.

Dear Mr. Cayce, -

Enclosed you will find a draft for ten dollars ($10.00) balance due which I believe entitles me to Associate Membership for one year in your Association and also a psychic reading.

I am also enclosing your letter to me of August 25th which states that the first open period is March 27th and in the next sentence states that the date is March 29, from 10:30 to 11:30. I have a copy of this letter and will you kindly advise me if the reading is to be on the 27th or 29th and I assume the hour given means A.M. I did not notice this difference until I read the letter again after receiving your letter to me of February 12th and assume it is just a typographical error.

Have decided on a Physical Reading as advised by you. How soon may I have a Life Reading in case I think I would like one after receiving your Physical Reading?

Inasmuch as I desire the Physical Reading assume my questions should all pertain to the Physical.

Questions:

No. 1 - What causes my trouble and most of the pain I have, to be on the right side of the anatomy, that is, the pain on top of my head is on right side, right eye and lower side of abdomen, bottom of right foot near the front part. There is also pain on the LEFT side of my neck. The pain on top of head, left side of neck bone has only been there since my injury.

No. 2. - What is causing pain in lower part of the spine, base of skull and in neck bones. This pain in lower part of skull is across the whole back.

No. 3. - As a child, between the ages of 11 and 13 while in bed at night, I would see a dark cloud like a roll of black smoke come from the hallway I was facing. It would never come near me but used to frighten me many times. The last time I saw it was when I was vaccinated, the vaccination caused me to be very ill, then the cloud an immense one seemed to envelope me and it seemed I went off in a faint or sleep. No one was around so can’t tell just what did happen. IF this questions appears of no value kindly disregard it.

No. 3 - Can you tell me if I am in the right vocation and place in regard to my health. I like my work.

No. 4 - Will wearing Opals by one who does not have them as their birth stone signify ill omens for that person. I am very fond of them and have heard also that they will benefit a persons health, but have hesitated.

I do not know how many questions are allowed as I have passed my literature on to persons whom I thought was interested.

Your book or rather “There is a River” I have recommended to many people and it is still going around.

I enjoyed your Xmas leaflet so much, never did understand the Immaculate Conception until I read this leaflet.
