-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
As we find, there are disturbances.
-
That the condition hasn’t become much more serious is due to the exercises that have been taken and that the body has been forced to take.
-
We find that in times back there were those injuries to the coccyx end of the spine. The very nature of the pressures has caused cysts to form.
-
Then an injury or pressure to the body also caused inflammation to the organs of the genital system, causing a great deal of distress to the testes; for the injury was in one area and on that side there has been the greater damage done. These exercises that have been given have prevented this from becoming more serious.
-
Yet this cyst and its draining will gradually cause a great deal of distress unless there are measures taken to heal same.
-
As to whether this may be accomplished without there being some portion of the coccyx end of the spine removed seems rather doubtful, yet this might be done if there are the abilities of the body to keep off of its feet and rest through the periods when these applications may be made:
-
We would take internally Mullein tea prepared in this manner: Put a pinch of the dry Mullein, between the thumb and the forefinger (crumbled) in a teacup and fill with boiling water. Let this stand thirty minutes, strain through a cheese cloth or gauze, and drink when cool. Do this each day.
-
Also apply a Plantain poultice each day to the lower end of the spine - preferably in the evening when the body is ready to retire or sleep. Use the green Plantain - about a tablespoonful to a tablespoonful of thick cream (as from the top of milk). Allow this to come almost to a boil. Spread on gauze and apply directly to the lower end of the spine.
-
These will not work so well unless the body keeps off of the feet. This will cause the areas to drain thoroughly, but with the combinations of these in the system the core should be discharged. Thus, with the rest period (requiring some two weeks), we should find healing and a correcting of the disturbance.
-
The areas of the lumbar-sacral should be adjusted osteopathically, relieving these tensions on the activities of the organs through the pelvis as related to the whole genital system.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are both openings from the same cyst? (A) Both are from the same cyst.
-
(Q) Is this a pilonidal cyst? (A) This is a cyst caused by injury and infection.
-
We are through with this reading.
Two copies to Self (one for the osteopath when you are ready for these treatments - Please let us have the name and address of the one you choose.) Copy to Ass’n file ” under case number for indexing
(4/5/44 GD’s note: If you are unable to obtain the Mullein and the Plantain locally, we would refer you to Mr. T. R. Wirsing, 1001 Third St., S.W. Roanoke, Va., a druggist who has been able to secure many of these crude drugs.)
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/6/44 Ltr. from Pfc. [4043] to EC: “There are very few times I get disgusted or thoroughly disappointed - but yesterday was one of them - YOU made an appointment for a reading from 3:30 - 4:30 EWT in Staunton, Va. - for me - I kept my part of the bargain, two months I did not feel too easy about being here - but I HAVE NEVER cancelled my reading I got time off from work - time that was valuable to me. I paid good money for a hotel room - I got my clothes overhauled for this - I thought - brilliant occasion - frankly I have never been so let down - the money meant little the time and hopes I had put together meant a lot. I hope this is not a habit with every patron.”
R2. GD’s note: Evidently he thought EC did not get the reading at the time appointed, as he had not yet received it in the mail. We have no record of further communication.
Background
Background
B1. 11/14/43 Ltr. from [4043] from Co. A - Staunton, Va., to EC: “I am stationed here at the Woodrow Wilson Gen. Hosp., and I suppose it seems strange for anyone in the medical line to ask for medical advice - thru your readings, however I will explain. When I was six years of age I fell approximately 30 feet and hit, on my side, on hard concrete, at the time nothing was evidently wrong with me. At the age of eleven one testicle subsided to the size of a pea while the other grew very large - stayed that way for approx. a week then subsided to a size twice as big a testicle should ordinarily be. My only time, that I know that it happened is when I strain myself thru lifting; which I have stopped. About the age of 18 I became the possessor of piles which when treated at home with cornstarch and hot baths disappeared for two weeks or more they did not pain me too much at the time. The Army took me a year ago piles and all and put me in I B since being in the Army the last thing I could want has happened the doctors (civilian) call it a pilonidal cyst, I have never let the fact be known to the Army doctors as I dread an operation and they would insist upon it. There is, to the cyst, a great amount of drainage which invariably soils my under-pants and trousers. I hope you can help me, believe me if you can give me the freedom from thoughts of it by its removal I will give you most anything you want. I am in hopes you will help me - I really need it - the piles have been inactive up to how for 3 weeks
- longer than ever before. I am 23 years of age.
“Thanking you for the present and the future. I remain…”
B2. 1/10/44 Ltr. from [4043] to EC: “As your records probably show I have written before, re my pilonidal cyst and having rec’d your reply I am sending back the form you sent me. Since being in the Army means little money I am sending this application and request from you the possibility of paying you $5.00 on the first of each month - starting with February thru May. May I hope this is satisfactory with you. If this is O.K. I would appreciate your aid as soon as possible. Thank you.”
B3. 1/12/44 Ltr. from EC to Pvt. [4043]: “I have yours of the tenth enclosing application for membership and the request for the physical reading. The first possible period that we could get this for you, and we would have to know exactly where you will be at the time of the reading, is the afternoon of April 5 from 3:30 to 4:30 EWT.
“It is satisfactory to take care of the fee in any way that it is convenient for you. We like only to be of help. Let us have a list of questions that you would like to have asked at the time of the rdg.”
B4. 1/16/44 Ltr. from Pvt. [4043] to EC: “My many thanks for your prompt answer to my problem - it makes me feel as tho you are very much interested in my problem - believe me, I can use that interest. I have but one request to make; as you know the Army is very uncertain and I am afraid that I will be on a shipment due to depart the 1st of March, if it is within the realm of possibility I would hope for a reading sometime during February either in Staunton or in Charlottesville, Va. - you can pick the location - day - time. My thanks too for letting me pay as I think I can best do.”
B5. 1/22/44 Ltr. from EC to Pvt. [4043]: “I have yours of the 16th. If it was at all possible to advance your appointment any sooner, I would be most happy to do so, but owing to the great number of appointments on hand, this is impossible. We can reach the saturation point, and this we have done.
“I do hope that we may be of a help when the time comes. Do let us know where you will be at the hour set, and send us the questions, or I think we have those now.
“Hoping to help, I am,…”
B6. 2/15/44 Ltr. from Pfc. [4043] to EC: “In re to my reading I shall try to be at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel at the afore mentioned time - Staunton, Va. My chief concern is the movement of the Army - consequently I am going to try and put in appearance when requested - I am very much interested in the reading - so I am keeping my fingers crossed, that time and the Army will not interfere.”
QUESTIONS to be asked at time of the reading
#1 Is the spot at base of spine with drainage a Pilonidal Cyst? #2 Can it be cured completely? #3 What do you advise? #4 How long will this treatment take? #5 If I must go to bed, here in the Army, they will try their methods - is it necessary to be a bed patient? #6 There is NO PAIN, at present, merely much purulent drainage would this alter #5? #7 There are two openings, are they both from the same cyst, can they both be taken care of simultaneously? #8 How can I thank you for helping me to better health?
