This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Capt. [4078], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: As we find there are disturbances. These arose first from congestion through the soft tissue of face and throat. Gradually these have grown into a catarrhal condition.

3. This has caused a prolapsus to the Eustachian tube.

4. We would prepare the body for osteopathic finger surgery, through the osteopathic treatments and massage. This will require at least treatments three times a week for three to four weeks to prepare the body for the finger surgery, and this will require some little time - to keep these from adhering again.

5. Thus the ability of hearing will be increased at least thirty to forty percent from the condition in the present. This will also set up better circulation throughout the whole body.

6. Do increase the eliminations through these periods, though it may be necessary at times to use high colonic irrigations for the body.

7. These do, if we would make the better conditions for this body.

9. (Q) Why is it that some times when I yawn I can hear better momentarily? (A) Because it opens the Eustachian tube. It is the prolapsus in the Eustachian tube that runs from the ear to the mouth. If you open your mouth you hear better. If you’re on a train you hear better. You hear better in an elevator if it is running up and down.

10. (Q) Can the hearing increase sufficient to get oversea duty? (A) As indicated it will be increased thirty to forty percent. You’ll get over, but it depends on where you are sent as to whether this will be to the advantage or disadvantage.

I am slowly going deaf and doctors do not know what caused it or what to do about it and I feel that you are the only person in the world who might prescribe. Doctors say this is a condition of bone conduction of sound and I do not think this is a natural condition that cannot be helped.

“I am sending $20.00 as a retainer and will send more when you say as I feel your fee could not be too much.”

B3. 2/1/44 [4078]‘s letter to EC: “In answer to your letter of the 27 January. I wish to bring to your attention that the reading promised me for Jan. 6 was not my fault I was refused because I had never received an application blank for membership.

“I have already sent twenty dollars in my first letter and you made the appointment, so I am sending another check with this application in hopes that I may have another appointment soon, as I do not know how long I will be here at this address. This reading from you is my last hope of continuing the profession of 23 years as I cannot carry on much longer in the very vital duties I must preform and I feel that I would rather be dead than have to quit when there is so much that I can still do.”

B4. 2/18/44 EC’s letter to [4078]: “I have yours of the first. I’m very sorry that there has been some misunderstanding about your appointment that was to have been given on Jan. 6.

“I am making another appointment for you which will be on the afternoon of April 10 from 3:30 to 4:30 EWT. I hope that this will be soon enough to be of a real help. If you accept this period, be sure to let us hear from you, giving us the exact address at which you will be at the time of the reading, also make a list of questions that you will want to have asked regarding your condition.

B5. 4/5/44 Capt. [4078]‘s letter to EC: “Appointment for April 10th at 3:30 to 4:30 E.W.T.

“At this time I will be at the bachelor officer quarters Bldg. T-6 room 18 Morrison Field.”

1. What is causing this condition?
2. Is it natural or have I did [done?] something to cause this?
3. Why is it that some times when I yawn I can hear better momentary?
4. I have been told that my inner ear channels are closed also that I have bone conduction.
5. Is there anything I can do to increase my hearing enough to get over sea duty?
6. I have read in magazines about operations on the ear, would I be able to get results from such an operation?
