FEM: Now, Mr. Cayce, you are going to sleep. (Pause) Now, Mr. Cayce, you are asleep, and all the organs of your body will function properly. You will hear me and answer all of my questions. You have before you this morning the body of Miss [4095] present in this room. Now, Mr. Cayce, I want you to go over this body that you have before you from head to foot, and examine the body carefully, and tell me of any ailments or disorders that you may find within the body, and then tell me what will cure or relieve the body from the conditions that you find. Miss [4095] present in this room.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. Now, the abnormal conditions as we find them in this body has to do with the organic conditions and the functioning of other organs in its relation to that condition as exists in the system, and it affects the whole system throughout to some extent, while the specific condition remains in the one place, as it were, yet the other conditions are reflexes, but the condition must be removed if we would make the body normal and give to it the best within it, - that is through spiritual or soul force, - or to be able to give the best of those without. Now, these are the conditions as we find them in this body, Miss [4095], we are speaking of, present in this room. The blood is deficient, - not a sufficient quantity or quality at the present to give the best incentives to the physical forces, hence the tired, dull feeling the body has at times over the whole system. The will carries the body forward, yet the physical strength is used up before the mental energy has carried out the whole extent of the active forces of the brain action to this body. See?
FEM: Yes, sir.
- The nervous system is very good for the condition that exists; that is the will of the body forces or keeps itself under better control than we would ordinarily find in conditions of this kind in the body. The functioning of the organs themselves that are abnormal has principally to do with the digestive forces and the action of these within the system. They affect the hepatic circulation, and the cirrhosis that is caused in parts of the liver at present came first through this condition as existed in the digestive forces, and the action of the blood to take these into the system. Much was caused by the food or diet that was taken in at the time in the system. The reflex of this, of course, affects the kidneys and their functioning organs through the pelvis. The bladder at times shows the inflammation as thrown out by too much of the secretions from these. You see?
FEM: Yes.
- Then the action of the organs of the pelvis are reflexes from this condition that exists in the hepatic circulation, rather than that of the condition existing itself. The body is good in its physical make, and with the action of the cerebro-spinal or brain forces over the system brought the physical defects lying within the organs themselves of the digestion, of the liver and the hepatic circulation. These are the conditions as we find them in the physical forces of this body. To relieve and to bring a normal condition to this body we would take into the system that which would create the balance of forces within the body. The system is made up, that is a normal body we are now speaking of -
FEM: Yes.
- Of all of the elemental forces as found in nature, with a balance of any individual force in excess; we have a physical re-action in the body; hence to produce a perfect equilibrium we must make a balance of forces in the body to create that equilibrium. We would take into the system these:
Podophyllin…2 grains, Cascara Sagrada…10 grains, Licorice Compound…3 grains, Dover’s Powders…3 grains, Sanguinaria…3 grains, Leptandrin…3 grains.
This should be mixed well together, and put in small capsules, - 2 1/2 grain capsules. See.
FEM: Yes, sir.
- A dose of this would be one each second day, - that is taken every other day in the evening. See?
FEM: Yes.
-
Until all of these are taken into the system. Keep the body out of doors in the open air as much as possible. see? FEM: Yes, sir.
-
Exercise especially in the mornings; rest in the evenings. See?
FEM: Yes.
-
The diet should not be of meats, but rather of cereals and fruits as much as possible. Use the mental forces, with the physical, or else we will lose with the re-vibrations the best forces of this body. The personage and the individuality will best be shown in that of the work of a statistician. Do this.
-
(Q) Mr. Cayce, this body wants to know what causes the inflammation in her bladder troubles. (A) [Repeating question] We have just given the conditions as produced from the cirrhosis of the liver itself, as the discharges come from the hepatic circulation, and the over-taxing of the pelvic organs produce this inflammation. You see?
FEM: Yes.
-
We are through.
-
Now, Mr. Cayce, you will forget all about this reading you have just given. You are feeling all right, and all the organs of your body function properly. You are feeling good. Now, wake up in two minutes feeling fine and all right, and without any headache.

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
It has been ages since I consulted you in Birmingham and you gave me a reading.
I have learned your address and I want to ask if you can give me help in curing three close friends of mine from drinking whiskey and what would be the charge. I have often thought of you and the wonderful power you have.
When I consulted you I was living in Opelika, Ala.
Please let me hear from you at your earliest convenience. I enclose self-addressed envelope for reply.
Yours sincerely, [4095]

Miss [4095] …, Alabama
Dear Miss [4095]:
It was indeed a surprise, but a very agreeable one, to have yours of the 29th. It has certainly been a long, long time since I heard from you.
I do hope that we may be of some help to your friends. As you will see from the literature being sent under separate cover (as per list below), it is now necessary that one become a member of the Association before we can make appointments for readings for such an one. If your friends are entirely dependent upon you, and you would be the one wholly responsible for having whatever treatment followed that might be suggested, then YOU could become the member and have the readings for them at the rate of $10 each. But on the other hand, if you are not in a position to become wholly responsible, they would each have to become an individual member and make the request direct. We have two types of members, as you will see, and each individual may choose the type preferred. If YOU become the member (using one of the Membership Applications being sent under separate cover), then upon receipt of your application we will send you Sponsored Reading Slips for you to use in making applications for your friends. Other-wise, they fill out the Membership Applications themselves - and we will send you two more blanks (whichever type they select).
We have had some very wonderful experiences in the years since I last saw you, and I hope your interest in the work of the Association will prove as worth while to you as such has been in the lives of so many others.
I’m wondering if you got my address from my good friend Mr. T. E. Harris, who must be just two or three doors from you - according to the addresses.
Hoping that we may be of a real service to you and your friends, I am
Sincerely, ASS’N FOR RESEARCH & ENLIGHTENMENT, INC.

R3. 8/1/40 HLC’s letter to [4095]:
Dear [4095]:
Our files show that you secured a physical reading from my father in November, 1922, and that we heard from you again in Selma in 1935, but since that time we have not had any correspondence with you. We are anxious to bring our case histories up to date and will greatly appreciate your cooperation in filling out the enclosed report form covering your reading. I note in the reading that a number of specific conditions are described which may be confirmed by you.
Trouble with the liver brought on by improper digestion. Disturbances in the kidneys and organs in the pelvic area. Inflammation of the kidneys at times. Disturbed hepatic circulation.
Were the treatments suggested followed and what results did you obtain?
I note that in your more recent correspondence you ask about information which we have had regarding drunkenness. We received just the other day and excellent report on a condition of this kind. Them an had been a habitual drunk for years, unable to keep a job and estranged from his family. The reading described the cause as basically physical. The treatment suggested, with determination on his part, have made a new man out of him. He now has a good job and is supporting his family. [Case [2297]?]
I would like for you to know about the expansion program described in the enclosed leaflet. We believe that every individual who has had experience with these readings will want to have a part of this program which will insure the preservation and scientific presentation of my father’s work. If every individual will do just what they are able, however small, we would be in a position to carry this work forward rapidly.
Within the near future, some member of the Association will call on you to discuss your report and this program.
Sincerely, Hugh Lynn Cayce [HLC:KM]
