This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of July, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [4174].

Time of Reading 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body. You will answer the questions regarding this body that I will ask you.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. Now, we find there are those conditions with this body that may be corrected.

4. These are the conditions as we find them. First:

5. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find shows the effects of toxins as are carried in the system; also the inability of the rebuilding forces to that of the normal state, for the red blood is low in count.

6. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this we find is gradually becoming worse and worse - that is, the body finds itself gradually becoming more nervous through the general sympathetic system, and those centers in the cerebro-spinal system, that are impinged, cause a great deal of this nervous condition, as does the worry over the general condition of the body, and that as of the toxins and the blood condition.

7. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, brain forces very good.

8. Sensory organism shows some strain, as is seen in the eye, and the buzzings at times in ear - an unequalized condition. The katabolism of system low, the metabolism RACKED, as it were. With these two conditions, we find then the assimilation and eliminations are distraught at one another - that is, unequalized in the conditions as exist. In that portion of the system wherein the lesions, or rather adhesion AND lesions, from subligated centers, this causes the distress to the digestive system - the irregular heart action, and the CAUSE of same being strain in the mesenteric system, and in the whole of the lower digestive system. Then the organs of digestion are sympathetically unbalanced - not organically, nor functionally, save as sympathetic. Hence the varied condition as exists in same.

9. Then, to meet the needs of the condition of the body at present, we would first have those subligations in the lower dorsal and upper lumbar corrected. Three to six treatments, or adjustments with three to six treatments combined with this, or before and after, see? making twelve to thirteen in all, should make the correct adjustment, see?

10. After these have been made, take this for the correction within the system.

11. First prepare 1 gallon rain water. Add 6 ounces Wild Cherry Bark. Reduce this by simmering (not boiling) to 1 quart. Then add:

Syrup Compound of Sarsaparilla…1 ounce, Tincture Stillingia…1/2 ounce, Tincture Yellow Dock Root…1/2 ounce, Oil of Sassafras…20 minims, 10% Solution Iodide of Potassium…20 minims, 10% Solution Bromide of Potassium…20 minims, Elixir Calisaya…1/4 ounce.

Then cut 2 drams Balsam of Tolu in 2 ounces grain alcohol and add to the solution.

12. Shake solution well before the dose is taken, which should be teaspoonful 4 times each day, before meals and before retiring. About 30 minutes before a meal.

13. As for the diet, this has been VERY well given, but with these corrections we will find the body will put on nearer the normal condition.

14. When these medicinal properties are being taken, well that high enemas be taken occasionally, so that the colon is kept cleansed.

15. The adjustments will assist the system in breaking up the adhesions throughout the mesenteric system, see? Do that. Ready for the Questions.

16. (Q) Should the adjustments be given osteopathically or chiropractically? (A) Osteopathically.

17. (Q) What causes the very peculiar and annoying flutter which is sometimes around my heart, and at other times in my throat, or slightly lower down? (A) That condition as has been given. The improper condition in katabolism and metabolism, which is especially through, reflexly, of those conditions as go to make up between the sympathetic nerve system and the cerebro-spinal nerve system, which form a conjunction near where the cardiac or secondary cardiac, which produces the condition to this portion of the body.

18. (Q) What causes the stage fright feeling I have when in a crowd - at public gatherings, church, etc.? (A) Rather the smothery feeling - over sympathetic condition, as is seen, and as has been given, see?

19. (Q) What causes the severe burning at times across my shoulders and middle of my back? (A) Same over sympathetic system, and a regurgitation, as it were, of the blood supply, being below normal, entering the system, see? through the regular ducts.

20. (Q) What shall I do to try to regain the 15 or more pounds I have lost in weight this year? (A) Make these corrections. Get the system cleansed of the toxins, and we will gain the normal weight.

21. (Q) Is the fruit and vegetable diet I have been told to follow the diet for me? (A) This is very good. Do not eat meats so much, see? though it should be taken in small quantities occasionally, for the system demands same in its general make-up, see? but never hog meat.

22. That is all the questions.

23. Do these as we have given. First the corrections, see? Then those medicinal properties, as has been given, and we will find that within six to eight weeks we will be rid of this trouble and near to a normal condition.

I think the reading very good - and as far as I am able to judge, correct. Have never had a Dr. tell me my blood was not normal or that I had adhesions, but the rest is in accordance with their diagnoses.

I certainly intend carrying out suggestions as far as I possibly can. You will hear from me again ere long. [4174]

Just a little note at this time, and I hope to write you again in the next few days - but regarding the osteopath, I believe, if I were in your place, I’d go up to Birmingham and see Dr. Percy Woodall. I believe his office is in the First National Bank Bldg. He is a regular M.D. and osteopath, and I’m sure you will find him one of the nicest men you have ever had dealings with, and a man that knows his business. He has had a good deal of experience with the work, and you may give him the reading as your introduction when you go in to see him. I certainly hope you will see him.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Am enclosing you a small check, and hope to be able to do much better pretty soon. Hope you will pardon my negligence in not remitting sooner.

I have had quite a hard time of it since you last heard from me. I was beginning to think you might get a “spirit” visit. In October I was in hospital more than three weeks with malaria and am still being treated for same. All this, along with my old agonies, isn’t what one might call funny.

I have not been able to get to the osteopath as you recommended. Have been too nervous to live, almost. Do you suppose it would be all right to take the treatments as late as this? You read me last July.

Give my love to Mrs. Cayce, and thanking you once again for your kindness I am

My dear Miss [4174]:-

Maybe I should address you as “Mrs. [4174]” but I don’t know how!

I certainly am mighty sorry to know that you have been having so much trouble, but I’m in hopes you are over all that now and feeling real good again. You know I dreamed about you last night, so I guess I’ll have to write this morning.

But I do hope it’s going to be possible for you to get up to the osteopath before very long, for while maybe you were not trained just that way in the hospital, but his treatments (the osteopath) would free you of that malaria, and your nervous trouble from the adhesion, a great deal quicker than all the medicine you will ever take. No, I don’t mean I don’t believe in medicine - because I never will forget when you used to trot up with that little tray of pills for me to take!

Well, we had a little bit of a diversion this winter from what we have usually had. Gertrude and Edgar Evans, Miss Davis (our secretary) and myself, spent the month of February in Miami, Florida. Oh no, we didn’t just go! Somebody sent for us! We had a mighty nice time though. Heap of work - not much pay, but we had a nice time.

Well, I hope you’ll let us hear from you more often. You know we are always glad to help out if it’s at all possible. We appreciate your remembering us, and hope that you will write to us often.

My dear Mr. Cayce,

You will be surprised, I know, to have this letter from me, but you see I have not forgotten the wonderful things you do, so I am asking for your advice. You told me once that if I was ever advised to have an operation, you would “go to sleep” for me and diagnose my case. Well, I’ve had the operation, an appendix operation, about two and a half years ago. I was told that my nerves would improve, but they haven’t. I am almost a nervous wreck (or WRETCH). I suffer from gas all the time which embarrasses my heart and causes severe nervous spells.

Now, I hope I am not asking too much, but if you could help me out with this trouble it would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Miss [4174]

I certainly was surprised, but very agreeably so, to have yours of the 24th. I’m sorry though to know that you are having so much trouble, and that your operation didn’t prove as helpful to you as mine did. Perhaps you didn’t have as good care taken of you as I did me, because I’ll never forget how good you all were to me, and what good care I had at the time.* I certainly was very, very, lucky, and poor Dr. Gay has gone to his reward! A very peculiar man, one I think few people ever understood, but a man I know that did a wonderful lot of good.

You know, Miss [4174] I shall be more than glad to make the appointment for the reading for yourself, and also for your aunt [4977]. While we are kept very busy, of course, since we are giving our whole time to the work, and can only make two readings in one day, still we shall be more than glad to try to do this, and we certainly hope that it may prove of help to you both.

I’m enclosing the appointment cards for both of them. As you know, it’s necessary that we know just where you are on the day and hour that the reading is made, so you will give as this information on the card.

I am mighty glad to report that we are having some wonderful,

wonderful, reports from the readings, and more and more people seem to be getting good out of the work that we are trying to do.

We all like Virginia Beach very much. It is certainly proving wonderful for Gertrude. I doubt if you would hardly know her. She weighs now about a hundred and fifteen - maybe twenty, and you know she had never gotten to a hundred before in her life. I keep up pretty well under the strain of the work. I have found though that I can only do just so much, and no more, if I want to keep going. Both of the boys are doing fine. Hugh Lynn, of course, is grown. He is working this year, but hopes to be able to manage to get in school again this fall. Edgar Evans has spread out and keeps well as you please.
