This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office in Pinewood on Lake Drive, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of April, 1932, in accordance with request made by his friend, Mr. Harold Cohn, for him, Mr. [4210], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. H. M. Goetz.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis, H. L. and L. B. Cayce, and Gray Salter.]
Time of Reading 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes. Now, as we find, there is little of permanent relief as may be given this body in the present experience, for with the complications and that ministration for the relief, or to ease the body, there is little in the present of any permanent - unless there are some very drastic and some definite changes in the very near future.
-
As we find, these complications not only are affecting those glands in the ductless ones as a whole, but the excretory functioning of the liver, with some specific nervous reactions from same. These make for very hard conditions to be combated; for the general depletion, the general losing of the vitality, with the excruciating pains that have come at times from some former conditions, that have necessitated that application as has made for the quieting of same, makes for these to be hard to be approached from the purely physical.
-
As we would find, that as would produce more oxygen for the system, in the form or manner of the inhalations as would come through those forces as will supply elements in the system for the resuscitating of the vitale in the system, would offer the greater relief in the present.
-
That form, then, of electrical apparatus where the oil of pine, the oil of pine needles, with other ingredients, would be inhaled, in the form of vapor from this electrification, these would offer the greater relief in the present.
-
Or, there may be taken internally in the present the eighth grain of the animated ash, and the hand electrical ultra-violet applied to the lower portion of the brachial and solar plexus areas. This will also give that exhuberant [exuberant] reaction that comes from the loosening of oxygen for the system.
-
Either of these, with many of those applications already used - we wouldn’t leave off those, would be well to quiet the body. That we would do.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is his ailment? (A) The complication of conditions, which is a form of anemia, with liver complex, coming from those things taken that have affected directly the softening of the tissue in the nerve system itself.
-
(Q) What kind of electrical apparatus is referred to? (A) Just as described! These are usually applied through those of the homeopathic profession. This, as we find here, may be used with Guy Beckley Stearns.
-
(Q) Any drastic measures that could be taken that would bring about a permanent cure? (A) First we must get some reaction, see? THEN we may aid in the response to these conditions.
-
(Q) How long should this treatment be kept up? (A) For at least eight to ten days; then we would give the further instructions - [4210].
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 4/4/32 EC’s ltr. to Mr. Cohn:
Mr. Harold Cohn, 330 W. 72nd St., Apt. 11-D, New York, N.Y.
Dear Mr. Cohn:-
We are enclosing a copy of the information gotten for Mr. [4210]. This is one of the few, Mr. Cohn, where we do not find it over optimistic about the outlook. I am hoping that you will be able to find this Dr. Stearns, and that he will be able to offer some relief.
Should you desire to try the animated ash, we would be very glad to send you a trial quantity without charge, as this has been suggested from time to time through our information and has been prepared under its direction. Wherever it has been suggested (and this has usually been where internal inflammation of any nature was indicated), this has been most helpful.
I assure you that we are very glad to try and be of help, and we will be very glad to do anything or offer any suggestion we may, should there be any response to the change in the treatments for him.
Appreciating your interest, and hoping that we may be of some service, I am
Sincerely, EC:GD
ASS’N FOR RESEARCH & ENLIGHTENMENT, INC.
P.S. I think you will find Dr. Stearns’ name in the telephone book.
R2. 4/6/32 EC’s letter to Mr. Harry M. Goetz:
The last reading for a friend of Mr. Cohn’s is one of the few we have had in a long time where there seemed to be so little that might be done, yet it suggested his getting in touch with a physician, giving his name, and I believe you will be able to locate him, as I met this man some years ago in New York. I certainly hope you will be able to get him in time to be of some help. We always have hope, even when the information is not so optimistic. It seemed to be a change of there being some help. I am just hoping that the physician will be sympathetic and not want to use the case as an experimental one, but will do his level best to help. Wherever it is possible, it is very much better to get the expression - or the desire expressed for help - from the individual who needs it. I can understand the anxiety to a very close friend, like Mr. Cohn or Mr. Mossbacher, and they might feel that as good results could be obtained by their solicitation. This has not been our experience through the years, and I am sure if you consider your experience in the last few months, those who have been solicitous about their OWN condition have gotten the most out of the information.
R3. 1/6/39 Ltr. from David E. Kahn: “Will you look up and see if a reading was given for [4210] several years ago, who later passed away. I had a copy of the reading and misplaced it but I would like to see another copy of it.”
R4. 1/9/39 Copy sent.
R5. 1/12/39 Ltr. from David E. Kahn: “The [4210] reading is interesting. It said it couldn’t be helped and he died.”
