This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of September, 1928, in accordance with request made by her sister-in-law, Mrs. [4177].

Time of Reading 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Saranac Lake, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. Now, we find there are many conditions contributing to the disturbances and distresses of abnormal nature as exist with the physical forces of the body. Those of the greater apparent disturbing force has to do with the pulmonaries, and the effect as reflexes from these distresses cause in system; yet there are other conditions contributory to this. These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, Mrs. [4253] we are speaking of:

IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this shows the effect of the bacilli as is active through the system, through which the blood is to carry replenishing and rebuilding forces for the body, as WELL as that portion of same that is to act as the destroyer for used or abnormal entrance of other elements in the life giving forces of the body. This, then, shows lacking in vitality, as well as in quantity and quality. Not that the body has reached that stage where there is not the possibility of again bringing resuscitating forces, or re-enlivening tissue in the system to build the body to a much better or bettered condition than exists at present.

3. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this shows the effects of laxness in the nerve plexus and in the nerve ganglions, especially in the upper portion of the system. While in the lower portion, below the diaphragm, there exists some tautness that should BE relaxed, that the eliminations would be nearer in keeping with the proper correlation of eliminations from the body.

4. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, as seen, the distresses are in throat, bronchials and lungs. There exists that which produces the constant tendency of cough, through NOT the existent condition in lungs wholly, but rather that of the reflex action to the condition existent in bronchials and throat. That the tissue is, and becomes involved THROUGH this continual irritation, is seen from the character of that as is thrown off as the system attempts to surrogate, or separate the used tissue from this, through the mucus membranes as throw off, or accumulate to assist in throwing off, the condition.

5. The rest of the system in the functioning shows the effect of the weakened condition in vital forces of the body, especially in the condition in the tissue or soft bone structure of the head, and in the lumbar, or the effect created in the colon, do we find contributory causes to that producing irritation for the lungs, bronchials and throat. These are contributory to the condition by the amount of poisons assimilated through same and thrown into the system by the excretions, or functioning of the excretions, as come from same, and being re-absorbed in system find the irritation as produced sympathetically to that of the weakened condition in throat and bronchials and lungs.

6. In meeting, then, that for the betterment of the conditions, or correction of conditions in this body, Mrs. [4253] we are speaking of, first we would dis-continue the use of the electrical forces in the manner as being applied. This IRRITATES too much the nerve system, and tends to produce such a counter-irritant in same as not to be best, and especially with those elements as WE would apply for resuscitating forces in the body. Use, in the place of same, that vibration as would be found in the Radium Appliance, using the Physician’s Special; that is, sufficiently heavy to give a radiation that will ELECTRIFY (now, NOT electricity) or clarify (would be the better to say) the blood in ITS reaction from the conditions in the system. Wearing same across the SOLAR PLEXUS (that is, across the back, not across the front - but across the back). Well for this pad to be lain across the head, as the body rests, for five to ten minutes each day. ALSO across the abdomen, or especially that course of the colon.

7. Use as an inhalant that which will reduce the cough: To 1 GALLON of apple brandy, in a charred container (at least a 3 gallon container) - seal same only so that the gases as form in the space above liquid may be inhaled into the throat and lungs, see? by KEEPING the liquid and container sufficiently close to heat that evaporation continues to take place. Add to this, that it may be inhaled with the fumes or gases from same into the lungs, this:

Eucalyptol…1/2 ounce, Benzoin…1/4 ounce, Benzosol…1/4 ounce, Tolu in solution…2 ounces.

Shake solution (that is, the container) gently before the inhalations are taken. These may be taken whenever necessary to reduce the cough. This, as seen, will clarify conditions for the body.

8. Well that the diet, and the mode of the conditions about the body, be kept much in those manners as have been, for the place, or position, or condition, is well for the body, and we should bring bettered conditions for same.

9. When conditions are bettered we will find it necessary that some conditions be assisted by the manipulation along the cerebro-spinal system, to bring about proper coordination of nerve plexus and reflexes in the cerebro-spinal system, especially in the upper cervical, lumbar and sacral region. We would not begin these, though, under ten to twenty days after these suggestions as given have been applied to the body.

10. Necessary that the eliminations be kept little above NORMAL, but not by adding that which causes too much accumulation of secretions through the intestines. These had better be relieved by enemas, even with oil in same - or entirely of oil, see? but these must be kept sufficient that, as the refuses are taken up by an increased circulation, and as these are thrown off from the body, these will be eliminated or coordinated in elimination throughout the system. Ready for questions.

11. (Q) Is the Violet Ray to be left off and the Radium Pad used instead? (A) As given, and do not use electrical forces or treatments when there is inhalation of alcoholic forces in the body. This burns, or retards, or irritates rather than assists. With the Radium Appliance we will find these will coordinate, or cooperate, in bringing about RESUSCITATION or reviving forces for the body. Well that even small quantities of alcohol in varied forms be used in the diet for the body. Not of the nature that causes TOO much of a reaction, but this would be well to bring abut the gathering of forces to meet the difference in stimuli in the various portions of the body.

As much oils as the body may assimilate, as of codliver oil, or the juices of liver of any. Best that all meats be used or prepared while the animal heat is still in same, as it would be that the milk is taken with the animal heat still in same.

12. (Q) Is Saranac the best place for her? (A) Is well as any. When the body is bettered we may change the conditions and surroundings. Keep these up though for at least thirty to sixty days.

13. (Q) Is she getting the best of care? (A) As given, we would change conditions around, as for the treatments we have outlined. As for the ATTENTION, if that’s indicated, very well. As for the care (for that’s what will bring the bettered condition), not the best, as we have given. We are through for the present.

Dear. Mrs. [4177]:-

I received yours of the 10th, and we found the opportunity to get this for you yesterday. You know that I am always glad to try and be of help whenever it is possible, and a condition of this character is especially appealing to me, for I have known just what it means to have such circumstance in one’s family - for, as you remember no doubt, it was this trouble with my own wife that first convinced me there was something worth studying in the information gained through the phenomena manifested in the readings.

I’m glad that you found the reading interesting on Mrs. [4122], and I’m hoping the information will be as helpful and beneficial to her as it has been for so many others.

Now as for this reading [4253-1], Mrs. [4177] while it may be troublesome to have the suggestions carried out in full, but I sincerely believe - by past experiences - that if you will insist that this be done, you will find your sister-in-law will improve most wonderfully, and possibly be entirely relieved of this trouble. I do know there are quite a number of individuals who have followed these suggestions for just such conditions, that are enjoying as good health, seemingly, as anyone would desire - and I’m hoping you will insist on this.

We are mighty glad to have you as a member of our Association, and I am in hopes that you will find the time and opportunity to investigate the work that we are trying to do. I’d love mighty well for you to see our building that is going up here. Its quite a bit farther along than appears in this little snap, but this will give you somewhat of an idea of what it is to be like. I wish you could find the time to come down and look it over. You might have some suggestions to make to us toward the equipping or furnishing of the place.
