This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at Lillian Edgerton, Inc., 267 Fifth Ave., N.Y. City, this 31st day of October, 1933, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [427], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Hugh Lynn Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Helen Qinto [Quinto] and R. N. Ladd.]
Time of Reading 3:50 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ala. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [427]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, there is the return of those conditions that have disturbed the better physical functioning of the body, from the body not carrying out for sufficient period of time those suggestions made for the full correction of that disturbing the body.
-
While there is not the active tubercle in lung area at the present, there is sufficient inflammation and the activity toward these disorders becoming active in a degree that, unless this is checked, or sufficient of the resistance is builded, and the warriors in the blood supply created in system to meet the needs and to overcome the conditions, will become rather destructive to the better physical condition of the body.
-
This produces the weakness, pains in the chest, the tendency for the body to easily tire, the dragging - as it were - of the feet from tiredness, tendency towards cold and hot impulses, clamminess at periods of rest when the body is adjusting itself to its equilibrium.
-
In meeting the needs of the conditions in the present, we would add this line or mode of meeting the disorders in the present:
-
First have prepared an inhalant, in this manner:
-
To four ounces of pure grain alcohol, in an 8 ounce glass corked container, put:
Oil of Eucalyptol…20 minims, Tincture of Benzoin…10 minims, Canadian Balsam…5 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp…5 minims, Codeine (not dissolved, but crushed properly for dissolving)…1/8 grain, Rectified Creosote…8 minims, Tolu in solution…30 minims.
Shake this together when the inhalation is to be taken into the lungs, as cigarette smoke would be inhaled. Not too deep in the first one or two inhales, but in the third deep into the lungs. The fumes that will arise by shaking are only to be inhaled.
-
It would also be well that inhalations from this same compound be taken in the nostril to cleanse the muco-membranes of the head, the antrum and nasal passages.
-
Also it would be well to have prepared a compound in this manner:
-
To 1/2 pint of apple brandy, add:
Rock Candy…1 ounce, Glycerine…5 minims, Oil of Pine Needles…3 minims.
Shake this before the dose is taken, and two or three times each day take a teaspoonful. And during the night, if there is trouble from coughing or from sweats, take a teaspoonful.
-
The diet should be more those foods that contain fats, provided they are not of such a nature as to upset the digestive system; as butterfats and juices of beef without the meats in same. Plain beef juice. This, again, should be taken not more than a tablespoonful at one time, but be well for it to be taken two or three times each day. As much milk as the body may drink, morning, noon and night; preferably this warm with the body heat of the animal. Do not take same heated after it has set for some time. Dry milk, or dry milk with egg, with a teaspoonful of spirits frumenti, in a glass of same, is an excellent food to be taken twice each day. These should be given preferably between meals. Then the diet that would be given to go along with these, would be in this general outline:
-
Mornings - citrus fruit juices, for we must tend to keep the alkalin activity rather than any tendency towards the acid. And while these properties (citrus fruit juices) in some respects give that tendency towards the activity of a CHARACTER of acid, they will not be too acid - if the meals are followed in this manner.
-
After the fruit juices, or the citrus fruit juices, do not take cereals or stewed fruits; though these may be taken in moderation at times.
-
Noons - preferably beef broth, or mutton broth, or chicken broth, or vegetable broths that have large quantities of the juices of these in same; with Graham or whole wheat crackers, toast that is browned, or the like.
-
Evenings - rather meats that are of the fowl, mutton, liver, tripe, pig knuckle, or the like. Not swine, or beef in the meats - but the beef JUICES may be taken as given.
-
Following these, we will find the conditions will not only be eliminated but if there are precautions taken respecting keeping the feet dry, plenty of exercise in the sunshine and in the open - but keeping the feet dry at all times, the body will be rid of those tendencies for the muco-membranes to react to congestion, or from cold, and will also gain weight.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) If I follow your reading accurately, how long should it take me to be cured? (A) Eight to ten weeks, but don’t stop at that period. Rest for a period from following these suggestions, for a week, then begin again. Rid the system of those tendencies, or so build resistances as to DESTROY that tendency for tubercle reaction in the lungs and in the blood; for it is in the blood as much as in the lungs supply. Dead tissue, especially, and should be eliminated from the system.
Be careful that the kidneys do not become clogged, or that the eliminations through the alimentary canal are normal; but do not exercise the activities of the muco-membranes of digestion with strong cathartics. Use preferably oils; either olive oil or Russian White Oil, or the like.
-
(Q) Any further advice? (A) Be mindful of that we have given, and do not be dilatory; or else be sorry.
-
We are through with this reading.

R1. 11/5/33 Letter from [father] [779] to EC: ”…I was over at [427]‘s a little while last night and his reading had just come and I read it. I am very anxious that he carry it out in full and I shall insist on him doing it. I told him before that he did not carry out one before this well enough, because he began to feel better so quick after starting he thought he was OK. He had some kind of an attack tonight week ago - and was in bed a few days. I rather think clogging up of the kidneys as was mentioned in the reading…”

He is in the Medical Corp. and going to school for Administrative work. In his letter yesterday said he was going to graduate next Sat. from ‘Camp Pickett Tech’ as he calls it, and did not know where he would be sent from there.
