This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce, in Selma, Alabama, this 23rd day of February, 1923.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. We have had this body before you see. Now, we find the conditions in the body are much improved in many ways from what we had them before. We still have some of the conditions produced reflexly from the conditions in the nervous system and from their action over the system. The condition in the mouth is improved somewhat. The condition in the nervous system over the whole body is improved somewhat. We would change the properties that are being taken into the system. We would take this and in this quantity:

Tincture of Valerian…4 ounces, Bromide of Potassium…30 grains, Elixir of Calisaya…2 ounces, Capsicum…1 grain.

2. Mix with sufficient simple syrup to make 10 ounces. The dose would be a teaspoonful every three hours, except, of course, when the body is at rest, or at night.

3. For the mouth was [wash?] we would use the same solution as we have been using. Make it somewhat stronger - that is the toothache bark make of a stronger solution and add salt until it is a thin paste - use to rub the gums and gargle the throat.

4. We would rub the spine from the first cervical to the lower portion of the sacrum well with a rough cloth for about two to three minutes each evening, then bathe the entire length of the spine with cold water, then rub until the body has brought the capillary circulation to these portions of the body. Keep this up and we will find we will soon relieve all these conditions in the system and these conditions in the mouth and relieve the body of the malarial condition that exists and the nervous condition in the body. Do that.

Dear Mrs. [4274] -

Yours of the 5th reached me here. I am writing Mr. Mohr today. Am very much surprised to know that he has not attended to that matter long ago, as in his last letter to me, he assured me that everything has been taken care of and was trying to get me to join him again in Ohio.

I will be in Birmingham next week but only for a few days, as I go there to attend to the matter you know about but will be necessary for me to come straight back here, as I am starting to work on my oil proposition again.

I am in hopes will get to see Miss Pratt again in about two months as I expect to go there at that time to see about starting operations there.

Will let you know what Mr. Mohr has to say.

R2. 11/20/26 Mrs. [4274]‘s letter to EC:

Atlanta

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

How are you these days? I often think of you and the time you were in Atlanta. I had lost sight of you until a few weeks ago, when I received the pamphlet you sent me. I was glad to hear of you again.

I note you are continuing in the work you were doing in Atlanta, but presume it is along somewhat different lines. I trust you are doing well with it and giving relief to many who are suffering.

I have never gotten over the trouble with my gums and they are still sore. I don’t know what is the matter and why they don’t get well. It seems to me that five years is long enough for a person to suffer from any one thing, though I know there are many who suffer a lifetime. It is very annoying, and the worst part of it is that no one has seemed to locate the trouble or can tell me just what to do for it.

That is, no doctor has ever diagnosed it properly. If you will recall, in your reading you simply mentioned that the gums were sore but you did not say why. I tried the remedy you suggested but never got any relief.

Whatever became of Mr. Moore [Mohr]? Is he still connected with you in any way? Do you know I finally got my money out of him? It was not through any desire or intention on his part to pay it, however. I simply put one over on him. After the bank here had sent the check back twice with “no funds” in Columbus, Mr. Moore [Mohr] evidently concluded I had passed the matter up and would not return the check any more. I fooled him, for after about three months I wrote the President of the bank in Columbus and forwarded him the check, and in the interim Mr. Moore [Mohr] had placed funds in the bank and they sent me the money at once. I thought it was a very small thing for him to do me that way about the check, but I got my money after all, though I know he did not intend that I should.

I shall be glad to have a line from you sometime. Do you still claim kin with me? Do you remember the coffeepot baby in the Word family?

R3. 12/6/26 EC’s letter to Mrs. [4274]:

Mrs. [4274] Atlanta, Ga.

Dear Mrs. [4274] -

I was certainly very glad to have yours of the 20th. I have often wondered what had become of you, and how things were going with you.

Yes, I have been continuing with the work I was doing, ever since I first met you in Atlanta. Though I have changed about, I have been working to the one end - that is, to eventually have the institution where those who desire same may come and have the benefits of the suggestions that may be derived from the readings are given. I’m in hopes that we are going to succeed with that here before very long.

No, I have never been very closely associated with Mr. Mohr, since we were in Atlanta, or at least he not in the capacity he was then. I didn’t think he did the right thing there and was very sure people would get the wrong impression of me, from being associated with one that would act in any such manner. I hear from him occasionally. He is associated now with a firm in Miami, Florida, and I think is doing well. He has had two or three very close calls, in a physical way, since he was there. One especially, where he and two others were poisoned - white lead poisoning. He followed the suggestion given in a reading, and is alright. Both the others died.

No, I have not forgotten about the circumstance of the word “baby.” I was home a little more than a month ago with my mother a few days before her death. She mentioned something about it at the time, and I told her of having met you and you having been told of the same circumstance. While my mother was up in years, as time goes, we were certainly none of us prepared for her going, though she had been a sufferer for quite a number of years, but I know she is in Heaven.

I’m sorry that you are still having that trouble with your gums. I don’t think the preparation was ever put to-gether properly for you. I am sending you a sample of something that has been prepared through the readings for sore mouth, gums, and a remedy for pyorrhea. Try this out, and see if you don’t get results.
