GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with especial reference to any lesion that may be found along the spine. Also answer the questions that I will ask you regarding this body.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. We have had this before, you see.
-
Now, we find there are some changes in the physical conditions of this body. Many are for the betterment of the physical conditions. Some specific. Those as special reference to lesions along the spine: We find in the 8th and 9th dorsal region an irritation that, in the form of lesion, produces the condition in the system, where the disturbance from the nerve reaction in same produces that irritation along those centers that bring the cough, and the trouble with the stomach. This, then, is a reaction, and may be corrected by the stimulation of the centers to that position where the normal flow will be produced, rather than the overflow of nerve reaction. Also we find that with this disturbance, in its downward retraction produces, WITH the over amount of sweets, that irritation in the kidneys that shows at times the presence of an over sediment, or clay, or sand, see? This, then, with the reducing of the condition along the 8th and 9th dorsal centers, will bring the correction to these conditions.
-
As for the diet, this may now be altered to meet the needs of the body. Small amounts of the grapefruit juice may be alternated with the orange. Also those properties of the popcorn cracker, Graham bread, and such, may be given the body in small quantities. We would NOT give any apple in the raw state as yet, until these various conditions, in digestion and in the kidneys, were corrected. Then very sound, very well kept, and of certain characters, as have been given, may be given the body. Eggs, coddled, may be used whenever the body will take same, and the milk, as has been and is being given, is good. This may be alternated from time to time in its preparation - that is, small quantities of fresh buttermilk, well kept, well attended, may be added, and the sweet milk should be kept in the same way and manner as has been given. The candies may be the sweet chocolate in small quantities, and the PURE candies that are of the sugar nature - only the purest should be ever given the body.
-
These kept, these corrections, these conditions as for the diet, as has been given, and as is here outlined, with their changes, will bring the normal conditions to and for this body. Ready for questions. (After pause) We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/19/26 Dr. A. C. Layne’s letter: ”…Your good letter and the reading on little [4281] came on the 17th and we all appreciate same so much. There is one thing I am so anxious to have you find out for me. [4281] was very ill the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th of April - nasal diphtheria - and yesterday and today all the milk she has taken is passing in curds, and she has a temperature of 103. Please find out if she has any trace of T.B. in her blood or system anywhere. She has such dreadful earaches most all of the time. Are her tonsils involved in any way? All the cows we can get milk from, all the dairies, are testing their cows for T.B. and diphtheria every six weeks. I do not believe in having the serums used on milk cows. Please see if [4281] should take milk from cows tested for T.B. I have always said that a sound cow would eat all the time and keep fat, when a sick cow would always be poor and undernourished. Isn’t a cow in better condition to give pure milk when she isn’t inoculated? Is there any virtue in all these serums? I have always believed they did harm rather than good, so please tell me what you know about them? Has [4281] any malaria in her blood now? Does she need salt or soda baths now? How soon can she have sweet milk on her cereal again? She begs for sweet milk, but of course she cannot digest it now. Please let me have this reading just as soon as you possibly can. See if she needs any codliver oil or Coco-Quinine now…”
R2. 4/24/26 EC gave the twelfth reading - 4281-12.

B1. 3/25/26 Dr. Mary E. Layne’s letter: ”…Dr. [Al C.] Layne and I want you to go over the case of little [4281] as soon as you can. She has had such a bad cough for the past four weeks. She has been with us for over two weeks and will be here until the 30th of March. We have been treating her daily, but the cough hangs on in spite of all we have done. Dr. Layne says please examine her spine from one end to the other and see if she has a lesion, either a rib or a vertebrae, from 6th dorsal to 1st lumbar. We have seen some sand in her urine, for the past 3-1/2 weeks. Please see what causes this, and what to do to correct it. Is it caused by a fall (she fell off her tricycle) or from eating too much sweets? Either one can cause it, but we want to know what caused it in her case…”
B2. 4/12/26 EC gave the eleventh reading - 4281-11, answering specific questions [without being asked] which Dr. Layne submitted with her above letter [Par. B1 above].
