This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at Phillips Hotel, Room 115, Dayton, Ohio, this 8th day of December, 1923, in accordance with request made by herself - Mrs. [4282] via her son-in-law Mr. [4906], who made the request in person while visiting in Dayton, Ohio.

1. EC: Now, we find there are some abnormal conditions in the physical that may be corrected. There are conditions in the mental that are abnormal for the body, but of its own making. These may be corrected also by the change of temperament, and of the mental forces as applied to the physical, or self, through the will force of the body.

2. Those conditions in the physical we find as these: First,

IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, we find an over-abundance of blood forces throughout the system, especially in the white blood supply, this being produced by the over stimulation created in the system through the functioning of organs, creating this over supply of lymph and white blood forces. Hence the condition as is shown in portions of the body through these conditions, and producing the effect as we see apparent in the body. Much of the condition has to do with the mental attitude rather than purely physical, though physical conditions are produced in this body.

4. NERVE SYSTEM, in the nerve system do we see the results of this condition, for with the action of the nerve centers in the functioning organs the over-activity of some organs in digestion, in assimilation, in elimination, in the gathering of forces in the system to produce the gathering of forces together that form the condition produced, brings this troubles through the nerve system, all organs becoming involved more or less at various times. This we see in the pulmonaries, in the mammary glands, in the organs of the pelvis and in the general condition in the system, through nerve forces, you see, this is produced. The centers especially involved, the 4th lumbar, the 11th and 12th dorsals, the 5th to the 2nd dorsal, and the 1st cervical. Hence the condition as in these organs especially governing from these centers to the sensory organism, and those of the head.

5. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF ORGANS THEMSELVES, the brain forces very good, when directed in the proper channels, and for the up-building of physical forces of the body.

6. The eyes, ears, nose and throat we find the reflexes from this nerve condition through sensory organism.

7. Digestive tract produces at times the condition through the intestines that causes much distress.

8. Torpid liver, and then again over-active.

9. High hepatic circulation.

10. Kidneys and bladder become inflamed.

11. R E L I E F: To give the best results to this body, and give the improvement that is desirous, we would apply those of the Violet Ray forces over the whole system, especially in the centers as given; lumbar region, lower and upper dorsals and the 1st cervical.

12. This should be given for about three to five minutes each evening before retiring, and change for the mental forces the attitude towards the surrounding conditions of the body.

13. Do that, [4282].

14. (Q) Would a change of climate be of benefit to this body? (A) More the mental attitude than of climate would better change for this body.

R1. 12/12/23 Son-in-law [4906]‘s letter: ”…Mr. Cayce, I certainly am convinced in the power you have, and the reading you gave for Mrs. [4282] (my wife’s mother) would certainly convince the most unbelieving fellow in the world that you could give a true condition of any person you tried. The diagnosis of her case has convinced me equally as strong as that of my own. My wife and all her sisters say that there is not one of the girls that could have more correctly described the ailments of the mother, and we all know, and have known for some time, that her condition at the present is nothing other than a mental condition brought on by herself, and as for the treatment that you spoke of, violet ray treatment, my wife called the doctor and asked him what kind of treatment he called the treatment that he was giving the mother, and the doctor said that it was called violet ray treatment. We are all convinced, meaning the whole family, that there is some Divine good in your work, and we are all encouraging the mother to change her mental attitude toward her present surrounding and to try to be satisfied and to occupy her mind by doing the little necessities in the home that will help and aid anyone to keep the mind in the right channel and not to be continually worrying about something that never, never happens. Her chief horror is that she is afraid that her girls will not always be by her side. She says she cannot stand to have them out of her sight, and sometimes has as many as three of the five daughters sitting at arm’s length and is only happy at the time that she has them all in her presence. So this is the exact condition as I am able to explain it. I am enclosing in this letter a little remembrance for you from her…”
