GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: Now, we find there are those conditions with this body that may be so changed as to bring about better functioning of the physical conditions of the organs of the body. There are many things concerning the physical and mental make-up of this particular body that must be considered, when those conditions or applications are made towards correcting or changing conditions in the functioning of the organism.
-
Now, these are the conditions as we find them for this body, in the correcting of same. First:
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find, from outside influences (as gas inhaled, as shocks to the general system), these have affected the supply as much as internal conditions, or those as bring about that change of food values and conditions taken in the system to rebuild or to furnish this supply in the system. In the effect then as is produced in blood stream at the present, we find the effect of these conditions, and reflections of same in the capillary circulation, or the connection with portion of the blood supply in the lymphatic circulation WITH that of the blood stream proper. Such is seen in the capillary centers in various portions of the system. Also the effects of same are seen in the functioning of the eliminating centers, or that which gives to the system that stability of an equilibrium in assimilation and elimination; such as is seen in kidneys proper and the functioning of same; as is seen in the liver in its functioning, especially as concerning with that combination of secretions from the liver with that of the pancrean juices as secreted, and the effect that is produced about the lacteal ducts. Also, to some extent, this condition is shown in portions of the bronchial tubes, where the effect of gas, and the effect of a deterred or hindered circulation, has and does produce irritations, which to the nervous system, in that condition as is produced in the lymphatic and blood stream in capillary, brings distresses or irritations of uncertain nature at times in the system. See, we have a combination of conditions as exist in this portion of the disturbances of this body, [4297] we are speaking of.
-
IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, the mental forces of the body control, rather than the ordinary locomotory forces of nerve centers, save as is of the voluntary nature - that is, under the stress and strain through which the system has passed at the various stages of the development, we find the body PHYSICAL controlled by MENTAL in this connection of nerve system, rather than of the normal way, for the will’s forces, as are seen, control the system much. Ordinarily, we would find a body given up - gone to pieces.
-
IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANISM OF THE BODY, brain forces, as are seen, exceptional in their nature and in the functioning.
-
Organs of the sensory system show the strain under which the body functions.
-
The throat, bronchials, lungs, larynx - that strain as is shown in the disturbed nerve centers, especially of the secondary cardiac plexus; also those of the thorax and of the centers from the diaphragm in its reaction, which becomes the conjunction functioning between the functioning of digestive and of the respiratory system - that is, at certain stages. Of course, not always; when it’s a functional condition from the respiratory and digestive system.
-
In the organs as themselves, not organic, but functional nature, from many disturbances as are seen in the blood stream, in the nerve system.
-
Heart’s action, then, irregular. Not an organic condition, but again the effect of the control of the sympathetic system over the cerebro-spinal, and of the condition in the blood itself.
-
Liver, spleen, and the organs of digestion, are disturbed both functionally and through secondary condition as produced by other forces; though the body suffers distresses in the digestion, especially in the lower end, for we find, as has been given, that distress in the pancrean juices, or the pancrean fluids as are given in the system, and of the liver. This distress is rather of the nerve STRAIN than of organic, as has been given or told the entity in other conditions.
-
In the lower portion, or throughout the mesenteric system, this distress at times, with the overcharge in the kidneys, produces this heaviness, this condition wherein the dizziness appears to the body, and the overflow of all the pressure, or of the metabolism of the system - seems, as it were, out of balance. This, as we see, again a pressure produced on the lower portion of the nerve plexus; not as direct of solar plexus, but as of the lower branch, or that which comes toward the front, just below the 12th dorsal, see?
-
Then, to bring the normal, or better, conditions for this body, would be through THIS nature:
-
First, the system should be taken well in hand by the body, mentally, realizing, as it should, the physical must be made as near normal as possible for the mental to better function in a physical manner to the betterment of self and those dependent upon it. Then, there must be physical conditions take place in the system that the inhibition of mental over system may control, for this, as we find, the pressures as are produced in the various centers, give such a stress on the general system as to cause disturbances that will lead, not only to such abnormal functional trouble, but as to become organic, were these not corrected, in the later periods of cycle functioning.
-
Correct, then, first the mental attitude of self. Second, correct through manipulation, osteopathically preferred, those conditions in the cervical (2nd - 5th); 3rd and 5th dorsal, 9th, 10th, 11th dorsal, and the lumbar and sacral region; rather as stimulated than correcting segments that have become subligated.
-
In the properties for the suggestion of proper distribution in system, no medicinal properties other than plenty of water and of those of a saline nature through mesenteric system, to prevent any toxins from forming in centers, especially in the lower portion of mesenteric system. Hence the salines, preferably used as douches or enemas, to cleanse lower portion of body; keeping plenty of water throughout the alimentary canal.
-
Drinking plenty of water - not meats as diets; rather green vegetable until the system is more thoroughly balanced in the eliminations, at least. With this, through this way and manner, we will bring the better conditions for this body.
-
At least as many as thirteen to fifteen (13 to 15) such adjustments should be given for the system, and these should be given, for the first few days, EVERY day. Then every second or third day. When these have been followed out, we will find the system will respond to self and to the body BUILDING in the physical man.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 5/14/26 EC’s letter:
Dear Mr. [4297]
I am enclosing you, herewith, the copy of the reading as was gotten this afternoon. I am certainly in hopes that you find this interesting and worth while. We shall be very glad to hear from you concerning same.
We thank you for your interest and appreciate your contribution toward the work. This, as you no doubt know, we leave entirely with the individual, and ask that they be guided by their own conscience respecting such, and while we are limited in our work, still we rely on the goodness of heart of those we try to assist for the upkeep of the work.
Any questions that you might desire to ask me, if there should be such, respecting the reading, I shall be very glad to help out in any way possible.
With kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R2. 7/13/26 EC’s letter:
Dear Mr. [4297]
I feel that I should have written you at the time Dave Kahn sent you your reading [for wife, [4298]], but I put it off for a day or two, and then I haven’t been feeling very good myself.
I am in hopes, however, that you find the reading worth while. I want to assure you that I would like to be of some help and assistance if it’s possible. I am sure, from what Dave says, that he considers you one of his best friends, and we like to feel that Dave’s friends are our friends, for we all here think so much of Dave.
Should there be any questions that you should like to ask concerning this, I shall be very glad to try to make them more explicit if it is possible. While we do not profess to understand it all, we find that if it is understood entirely, and people follow out the suggestions as given to the best of their abilities, they do get results.
We shall be glad to hear from you from time to time.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R3. 7/20/26 [4297]‘s letter:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Upon my return today from a short vacation, I found your kind letter of the 13th inst. for which I thank you.
I appreciate the interest you take in our welfare, and should be very glad to assist you in further investigations, if I but knew just what you will require.
It must be admitted that there are several matters in the readings of both Mrs. [4298] and myself that are not quite clear to us; but I intend to discuss them with Dave, who I know has studied your methods closely, before I bother you further.
Dave is expected to return from Chicago tomorrow, and as soon as I can get him alone long enough to talk personal affairs, I will go over the entire situation with him.
In the mean time, thanking you again for your interest, I remain
Sincerely yours, [4297]
R4. 7/26/26 EC’s letter:
Mr. [4297] …, N.Y.
My dear Mr. [4297]-
I have yours of the 20th, and while I don’t want to worry you I am in hopes that you have had time to take up the matter of both your reading and Mrs. [4298]‘s with Dave. I’m sure that the sooner we can get this straightened out, and both of you started in following out the suggestions at “full blast” the quicker and the more sure will be the results from same, for of course changes are constantly taking place and I would like to be of service if it is possible.
I am wondering, Mr. [4297], if I might trouble you to ask a few questions regarding the radio that we have. We have been having some little trouble with it, and I don’t know whether the trouble is in the tubes, the way its connected up, or just what. I’m wondering if we could substitute that 121 for the 119 tube, or would that work in this set? Could it be possible that the C battery was too weak, as it was an old one when it was put in. We couldn’t use the one that was sent with the machine, according to the man who installed it for us. I have just put in new A and B batteries, but it doesn’t seem to give us the same reception that we got with the other battery. I don’t know whether its tubes, batteries or connections. I’ve noticed in some of the ads that they suggested using this higher battery - that is, the 121, I believe it is numbered, in place of the 119. I wondered if it would work in this machine.
Thanking you for any information that you may be able to give me, and hoping to be of service to you and yours, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R5. 11/24/27 [4297]‘s letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
In spite of all my good intentions, it has been impossible for me to act upon your kind invitation sent me, it seems, a very long while ago.
Dave has probably told you that I have passed through a very trying and uncertain period, during which several Thousand Dollars in past salaries have been held up (and still are, for that matter); and the question of what my next step would be, or ought to be remained unanswered.
Without bothering you with a lot of uninteresting details, I might state gradually everything seems to adjust itself, and I have hopes that the uncertainty of the last year is at an end.
You are doubtless very busy with your tremendous undertaking, and I express the hope that I might at some future date be able to offer more substantial support than I feel capable of doing at this time. For the time being I am just inclosing my application for Membership, and attach my check for 1 years dues, so that, at least, my name may appear in your membership list.
I regret that it was not possible to see you when you were in New York last; but I trust I may have better luck next time, and that your next visit will be in a not too far off future.
In the mean time I remain, with the very kindest regards and best wishes,
Sincerely yours, [4297]
R6. 5/21/32 David Kahn’s letter to EC:
DAVID E. KAHN 501 MADISON AVENUE SUITE 1904 Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
My dear Judge:
The [4297]‘s have had a terrible time. As you remember, he had a broken back and then he lost his mother-in-law; then his position; then he established himself readily with a knitting corporation which went bankrupt; and then [4299] took very sick. These people have really been without food. I hope that you will be able to help [4299] and unless you change the time yourself, she will be at home at …, Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 P.M. and on, daylight-saving time.
I am sending you a small check to cover the reading and I hope that you will be able to give it to her.
I will write you again but I wanted to get quick off quickly so you will have it at once. If you have no objection, would you mind including for the father, two or three questions just to ask what he can do under present conditions to make a living for his family and himself. Also, how he can get into Radio City and get a position of importance and good income. [See 4299-2, par. 20-A, 21-A.]
Harry Goetz telephoned me today that he and I would get together and may come down to the Beach when I get back from Chicago. I must get some of these things started in order to get income rolling in. Write me all about yourself and how you got along with your purchase.
With kindest regards.
As Ever, [signed] Dave. S. DavidEKahn/BBS Encl.
