This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce in Hopkinsville, Ky., this 16th day of August, 1911.

[Edgar Cayce; L. B. Cayce, Conductor; Jno. C. King, Steno.]

Time of Reading 5:40 P. M.

  1. LBC: You have before you [4323], …, Ind. He is before you now. You will see him.

  2. EC: Yes, we don’t find him at the house, but we have him here.

  3. LBC: I want you to go over him carefully, examine him thoroughly, and tell us what is the matter with him.

  4. EC: Now, in this body here of [4323] you see, we have some effects here from the exterior to the effect on the body, as the condition we have here of the eye. We have some effects here from abrasions produced on the exterior portion of the skin from the objective force used from the exterior.

  5. But the troubled condition, you see, is to produce this condition we have here in the body, is the weakened condition that we have along the spine from the second, third dorsal, to the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th dorsal, second, third, fourth, lumbar.

  6. We had first a condition produced in the body from a strain, or wrench, here from the hips up. And we have then an internal lesion formed along the supplying to the muscular forces of the back, or which come out from the dorsals or vertebrae themselves all along the spine here, the second to the fourth lumbar. This produced, then, at the time of the strain, a lifting up that brings into conjunction the forces of the blood supplying to the action to the muscular forces from the hips upwards, until we bring to bear all of the blood forces, and this and the tension of the nervous force being relaxed, the body will collapse in a heap. Then we have the forcing of the blood to the heart, and becomes a smothering, loss of breath, fighting for air in the body. That produced, of course, from the sympathetic condition coming between these and coming along the spine from the secondary cardiac plexus, dilating here to that of the stomach, to that of the diaphragm itself, in conjunction here to the walls; that is, to the interior portion here, those along the spine itself, and all through the whole condition of the force sympathetically come in conjunction with those of the feeding, or supplying force to those of the lower part of the intestinal tract and also to the kidneys. That is the after effect, you see.

  7. A tired, over-strained body, begorged by proteids [proteins?] of such an extent that the blood becomes full of the matter of fats in the body.

  8. The removal of the condition of the troubles we have in the body here, we have from two or three ways of removing it, either through the forces like something to eat, in the stomach, until the body balances itself through the muscular forces and nerve tissues. He will be sick, very sick here at times.

  9. (Q) Then what other treatment? (A) This should last eight to ten days, then begin to improve or get over the conditions from the hunger, not filling or gorge the stomach, but as that we would have through milk, warm milk, from the cow, you see, or we would have that of systematic baths, cold water along the spine, or that of sponged along the spine night and morning. And a diet of rougher or courser, or that of fat and starch, or of starchy foods. The application of the forces along the spine of low electrical force to the ninth dorsal, and the application, after rest or sleep, to the ankle or to the wrist. Either of the forces you see will improve the body.

  10. (Q) Anything to take internally? (A) Not for this.

  11. (Q) Any other treatment that you would prescribe for the present? (A) Either of these will improve the condition.
