This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of May, 1927, in accordance with request made by her son, Mr. […].

Time of Reading 12:30 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. Philadelphia, Pa.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions; also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: We have the body here.

3. Now, we find there are those conditions as cause some distress in the physical forces of the body. These are in a manner attempting to adjust themselves to the physical changes as have taken place in the functioning of the nerve and the blood supply, as well as of making new nerve connections and the general re-habilitation of the physical functioning in the mesenteric system. Hence we find the body weak and depleted in vitality, for the assimilations being low, and the eliminations having been disturbed, the body is slow to respond to the recuperation as is going on - in a very slow manner; yet gaining in the greater part and manner.

4. Now, the whole system shows better corrections in the general manner, and that while there might have been other conditions accorded than the operative measures, yet the operative measures as taken, and the system accorded the properties that will build back, the body will be the gainer by the operative measures having been taken. Hence there will be seen that the necessary steps, the necessary precautions, and the necessary conditions are meted for the body, that the conditions may be made near normal, as this recuperation takes place.

5. We would, then, be mindful rather of the diet, and only a very mild condition be accorded the system that the internal forces of the body may be assisted. So we would prepare this as medicinal properties to be taken internally, see?

6. To one (1) gallon of rain water, we would add eight (8) ounces of dried garden sage. Reduce by simmering (not boiling) to one (1) quart. Strain while warm and add four (4) ounces of beet sugar, first dissolved in two (2) ounces of hot water. Add this to solution, with four (4) ounces of gin, preferably Gordon’s Extra Dry. Then add twenty (20) grains Ambergris, dissolved in one (1) ounce of pure alcohol. Three (3) grains of Senna should then be dissolved and added to solution, with twenty (20) minims of Oil of Sassafras, and two (2) drams of Cinnamon, preferably that in the stick may be just put in the solution.

7. Shake solution before the dose is taken, which should be teaspoonful four (4) times each day, before meals and before sleeping or retiring, see?

8. Let the diet be of beef teas or juices. Iron, wine and beef may be taken in small quantities, as also occasionally there should be taken Codliver Oil Emulsion - teaspoonful two to three (2 to 3) times a week will be sufficient, see?

9. Massage every third (3rd) day the whole of the cerebro-spinal system with equal parts of olive oil and tincture of myrrh. Heat the oil and add myrrh while hot, see? while oil is hot. Then massage into the whole of the cerebro-spinal system, gently but firmly, so that the system absorbs the solution. Only prepare sufficient for a treatment at one time, see?

10. Also we would add those vibrations for the system as is found in the Double X Radium Appliance, wearing this across the solar plexus for at least eight (8) hours each day, see? After the body becomes more accustomed to the new blood flow, the pad may be worn at all times except when resting at night. Occasionally this may be lain across the forehead for a minute to two (2) minutes at a time - not longer - for the eyes and for the effect created there by the change in the vibration set in nerve and blood supply that will aid the sensory system - eyesight, hearing, and the effect of the nasal forces, as are seen in change of blood supply.

11. Do that as given, and we will bring the better forces for this body, [4328].

We are today refunding $30.00 to Mr. […] - he felt that he did not wish to persist further with his Pad and has returned it to us within his trial period - we regret this and know that you will also.

R3. 8/11/27 [4328]‘s son’s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

As to the reading you were kind enough to give for my Mother, wish to advise that we have not followed out to the letter the various suggestions you have made. We received the Radium belt, but after a week’s use, she could not wear it any longer as it irritated the inner lining of the stomach.

The doctors are doing all they can for her, but she is steadily growing weaker and at this time she cannot take any food. She is suffering with headaches, and her entire body aches all over. I will say that she has cancer.

Can you suggest or give us your advice as to what can be done to relieve her suffering.

R4. 8/19/27 EC’s letter to [4328]‘s son:

My dear Mr. […]

Replying to yours of the 8th, I’m certainly sorry to know your mother has been growing steadily worse. The condition you give is a very subtle one, and I’m sure must bring about untold suffering.

We shall be glad to make an appointment for a reading, and if you will give your mother’s address - where she is constantly - we will possibly be able to make this sometime next week. I know - by past experience - there have been times when the readings have offered ease with such conditions, where everything else had failed. I remember one case very particularly, where a relative of a very prominent physician in the South had been suffering with headaches and pain for about six weeks, when there was a reading taken. The suggestions that were given brought relief almost immediately, and - as the doctor said - he knew that what was given her could not possibly be as detrimental to the heart’s action as the many various things HE had tried for several weeks - and while it did not bring a cure, the relief that was brought this body he considered marvellous. I certainly like to be of help if possible.

Yours of the 27th received. Our appointments are such at the present time, I don’t know how it would be possible to get in the reading you request. Of course we try to make place for acute conditions. However, all of our time at present is taken up until the 26th of May, and I feel sure, from the little you say in your letter, this would be entirely too late - but we are only able to give two readings in one day, and if your mother is in the hospital, I am sure you would have quite a hard time getting the suggestions carried out that might be given in a reading, but if you desire that we reserve this date for a reading, please let us know by return mail. We would like very much to be of service if possible.

Dear Sir:-

I have your letter of the 3rd inst. and I would be pleased to have you reserve May 26th for a reading, if an earlier date is not possible.

Further desire to advise that my Mother has been discharged from the hospital, and is now at home, having the doctor call each day to dress the wound. She is able to walk about slightly but does not seen to be gaining any strength but gradually getting weaker.

I am enclosing you herewith money order in amount $10.00, and if there is any further information I can give you, please advise.
