DEK: You will have before you the body and you have before you, the body of [4341] present in this room, at 290 Riverside Drive, New York City. When you have located this body and its business and personal associates and problems, we will then ask you questions about his mental and material affairs which you will answer slowly and in detail and fully.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; those conditions and problems as are associated with the body and its mental, social, physical and spiritual relations as respecting the experiences through which the mental body is passing. These present at this time those elements that were the first principle of that that may be given were fully applied in the present experience.
-
The body-physical, mental may become a power in the mental, the financial, the spiritual world as applied to the experiences of men’s existence. These then are this: Learn these well for the emanations of every endeavor must be tempered by these laws that permeate the whole of that knowable and applicable in man’s experience.
-
First, the continuity of life. There is no time: it is one time; there is no space; it is one space; there is no force; other than all force in its various phases and applications of force are the emanations of men’s endeavors in a material world to exemplify an ideal of its concept of the creative energy, or God, of which the individual is such a part that the thoughts even of the individual may become crimes or miracles, for thoughts are deeds and applied in the sense that these are in accord with those principles as given. That that one metes must be met again. That one applies will be applied again and again until that one-ness, time, space, force, or the own individual is one with the whole, not the whole with such a portion of the whole as to be equal with the whole.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) [Question not recorded] (A) This within itself presents many phases and many angles. It may be answered “yes” or “no”, and both be correct, or both incorrect. It then is that the self, [4341], finds within that, that is not expressive of self in that association and seeking to find the channel through which that portion of self that is created it itself will find an expression, and well that energy, that self then so apply self in other channels, and as given here, this body, this entity, this being, with no material or earthly complement but the real individual self, there may be said of it: “Capable to go to the highest point in whatever endeavor the entity may choose or channel through which it may express itself”. With it keep first and foremost that continuity of purposes with its self that it must be the servant of all to be the greatest among all and that in applying self, there comes first that knowledge of self and as has oft been given, my son, seek first that knowledge or that kingdom, as it were put of old, of self or that portion that is a portion of the whole creative energy or God and all these things shall be added unto you, for the silver and gold is mine, saith the Lord of Hosts and the cattle on one thousand hills and those that make themselves a channel for those blessings or natural consequences of same. Let them: power, might, position, whether that of in money, in prestige, in social or authority not be first and foremost. “Money”, I use same to better expression, to better manifest my conception of my Creator or myself,” for truly, does not one build that which it (self) occupies? Then in the change there is good to come, for bound about the narrowness of others, self finds little opportunity for expression. Yet in the finer things, when we speak materially, does the body, the entity, find an opportunity for self-expression. Then seek associations first with those whose principles, whose motto is first and foremost: “I serve that I may be the more able to serve better” and in those lines, those channels that have to do with the building up of materials, their structure, their construction, their application in the part such plays in the lives of individuals who make same a portion of themselves for all do when the first leaves were gathered as those that would offer some expression of self in mood, or manner or adornment.
-
(Q) [Question not recorded] (A) Just given.
-
(Q) [Question not recorded] (A) Through those channels where there are the preparation of the manufacture, the construction, the selling, the distributing, the exposition of such manufacturing materials present themselves. Such channels, such associations, such connection would the body find the best manner, the best way of expressing or manifesting self. Though as given in any channel where the body finds an outlet of self-expression by remembering first: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me, for that in self, let not self become the lord and master, but the lord and master of self to serve.”
-
(Q) Will the conference - (A) (Interrupting) be successful? Be wonderful to take the conference as is shaping itself, were the wires put in order. Put them in order.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 10/8/28 EC’s letter to [340]: ”…Don’t let me forget to tell you about meeting a real live Count and Countess [GD’s note: French Count married to an American]. Certainly was very thrilling. Especially will you feel that it is so, no doubt, when I tell you that four or five hours after I met them I went to their home and spent the night…”
R2. 10/17/28 EC’s letter to Count [4341] and his wife:
Count and Countess [4341]: New York City
My dear Count and Countess:-
I presume that you must think I have fallen overboard, or that something equally as bad has happened to me - but I have been feeling quite unwell since my return and have neglected to do many things that I should have done. You will please pardon me for not writing before this and at least again expressing my appreciation and thanks for your kindness and hospitality, for I certainly do appreciate it, and am looking forward to seeing you both here on November 11th.
Countess, I am sure you will rejoice with me to know that Dr. Brown, Professor of Education and Psychology of Washington and Lee University, will deliver our address for us on the 11th. It speaks quite well for our boy, I think and we are all quite fortunate to be able to have such a prominent man in education and scientific circles to address us.
Count, I suppose you must feel I am not very anxious to help out with the rest of that reading. I assure you I am anxious to be of help if I possibly can, and if you would desire to have it, be sure and get your questions up and let’s see what we can find just as soon as possible - though I’m a long way behind in my appointments, I’ll have to tell you that.
Please accept my thanks, and be sure to be here on the 11th.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

Edgar Cayce, Esq. Virginia Beach, Va.
My dear friend Cayce,
Your missive of the 17th inst. at hand, and I surely was glad to hear from you. I was sorry indeed to learn of your indisposition since you left this city, and do hope you have entirely recovered by now.
Both Madame and myself were glad indeed to learn of Dr.
Brown’s decision to lecture at the dedication on Nov. 11th of your wonderful institution, and we both assure you, will do everything possible to be there too!
It was certainly kind of you to send me these various booklets and in due time I will peruse and study them thoroughly. I also appreciate your request to send you the additional “questions” pertaining that reading you were so kind to offer me when you were here. And, dear Mr. Cayce, since you started this reading, I may as well accept your extreme kind offer to finish same, therefore, attached herewith the ‘final’ questions on my present situation and quandary.
Both Mr. Kahn and myself have spoken a lot about you since you left, and I’m anxious to see you again soon. Thanks, for the splendid picture of the “Institute” and may I soon see the “real” thing is what’s in my mind just now.
With my heartiest wishes for your health and success, in which Madame joins me, I am, dear Mr. Cayce
Very sincerely yours, [4341]
