1. EC: In this life here of [4348] we have a demonstration of the susceptibility to the mind and environments, rather than the hereditary instinct which should be or what is ordinarily without the environment.

2. In this man’s body we find that he has in his actions, and treatment of life to himself and those associated with him, is governed by his environments from day to day, or the class of people he associates with more than by teachings of his mother who is his guide. We all have a guide, either dead or living. Some are guided by dead, and some by living spirits. This man’s guide is his mother. There is a warring of spirits mental and metaphysically, all three within the same body, as is in every man or woman.

3. Now this association has brought within his own mind those things that he knows are contrary to his guide, or his mother, as it happens to be in this case, so it causes him in his own mind to treat his associates not with proper respect also to his mother. This is his condition socially and physically.

4. To better the condition leave off some of THIS nagging - that is NO WAY TO GUIDE. Leave off some of the worry and apply those things to keep him under the rule or under the supervision of the guide more than his associates. Make things more pleasant at home - appealing to his appetite, reading, thinking, and what he sees and hears.

5. Appeal through the sensory system, to his better self.

6. All guides, whether spiritual or material, have the power to direct and influence their subjects.

7. (Q) Mr. Cayce, is this all that this personage needs? (A) This is what he needs but it is hard to bend back an old tree.

We would like very much for you to become enrolled as one of the members of our Association, and to send this data to you from time to time.

Dear Madam:

Your letter of April 14, with remittance of $2. received.

On account of other engagements I have not been able to take up this case, which I shall be glad to do June 14th 7 to 8 o’clock p.m. Have the party in the house on those dates and at the time, to remain there not less than 30 minutes. I would suggest that not more than one person be in the room with him at the time.

Of course, most people know, that stenographic services usually cost me from 4. to 6. which is in addition to my time, postage, stationery etc.

I trust that the reading, if still desired, will give the benefit expected and hoped for.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Selma, Ala.

Dear Sir

Your kind favor of the 2nd inst. arrived this morning, after four days. We only get one delivery every morning in the suburbs of Plainfield. Mrs. Golding told me she sent 2.00 to you, and received the reading [No record of this reading]. Do you infer that I should send four dollars besides the 2.00 I sent May 14th. My circumstances are not so flourishing and I am very much worried about my son who does not seem to push ahead and earn his living and dreadfully worried about the entanglement he has with a woman. I will enclose $4.00 which is the best I can do, for I may have to call on you again.

My son’s vitality is not good, is this woman’s society the cause. She seems to have a peculiar influence over him, and has always been the best of a son (only one) to me. She is his ‘inferior’ and older. Please help me or tell me what to do, she is not the woman he can live happily with, for she has turned him against me, and made him deceive me. We have moved from the last address and live on … Ave. between … Ave. and … Ave. I will tell him to reserve the time you suggest June 14th between 7 & 8 o’clock P.M.

Hoping you will be able to give me advice that will make him see that if he persists with this woman, his future will be ruined.
