This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of July, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [4371].
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. L. B. Cayce and Dr. T. B. House.]
Time of Reading 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions; also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: We have the body here.
-
Now, we find there are physical conditions that are abnormal that have become to the body near normal. There are other conditions and disturbances and abnormalities for physical forces that have arisen from many of the disturbances and physical conditions in the body other than these, and many of these may be corrected; some improved, and better physical forces brought to this body, [4371].
-
These are the conditions to be met. These are the conditions as we find existent through which disturbances are seen that need correction.
-
In times back we find there were disturbances in which there was created too high a vibration in the lower lumbar plexus for the rest of the system. In this disturbance, and in the unequal condition created in the nerve system, we find there were brought to the body those conditions that impaired the centers of locomotion, especially as to the stability of the body. With the occurrence again, then, in system - through accident - that in which scar tissue has been seen and formed in portions of body, this nerve taxation became accentuated, and the sympathetic system became involved. Hence the unableness of the sensory system - or the balance between sensory, sympathetic, and cerebro-spinal - to control, set about. Hence the condition as exists in the nerve portion of the body. Not directing towards the functioning of organs so much disturbances, as to the equilibrium and coordination of the body - though there have been times when there appeared to be that which was termed stroke, or an apoplectic condition. This, as we see, is rather the hardening of centers, than of that of clot or disturbance in the blood supply. Rather a knotting of nerve centers and ganglions than of the blood stream, though this becomes affected indirectly to the body, see?
-
In the blood supply we find disturbances produced by the inability of the system to assimilate with the disturbance in the lower portion of the mesenteric, and the circulation becoming fast through hepatics throws off or carries the poisons - that should be eliminated through regular channels - to other channels, or the system seeking to establish an equilibrium without proper nerve direction produces, then, distresses in mesenteric system, digestive system, and the result is as of swimming in the head, and sickening in the stomach, and an excess of urine.
-
In the organs of the body, many show disturbances, though not organically deranged or affected. With the application of the proper means of coordinating the nerve system, and supplying to the body the rebuilding forces for this portion of the disturbance, these all will show greater improvement in this body, [4371].
-
Then, to meet the first essential conditions for the body, prepare as this:
-
To one and a half (1 1/2) gallon of rain water - in at least a two (2) gallon crock container - add:
Willow Charcoal…1/2 pound, Copper Sulfate…1 1/2 pounds, Common Zinc…6 drams, Sulfuric Acid C.P…1 1/2 ounces.
This, as we see, will charge self, were there placed any metallic object or properties upon which to act. Use, then, one copper and one nickel pole - preferably bars one-half inch to an inch square, see? Place wooden cover over the container, allowing these bars to project above same. To the nickel bar attach copper wire, or silvered wire, so same is insulated. Near the center make a lead connection that may be bent and allowed to pass through a small bottle that is insulated, so that the properties in same may be carried to the body, see? In this small bottle (two ounce) place five (5) grains of Chloride of Gold in the two ounces of distilled water. The lead then is attached the other end to the wire, that will have an anode at least the size of a dollar. This also silvered, and be able to attach same to the umbilicus, see? The copper plate or bar has copper wire, with small anode or plate (thin) that may be attached to the ankle or wrist. When attached to the wrist (either left or right) attach the larger plate just above umbilicus. When attached to the ankle, attach the larger plate to the 9th dorsal vertebra plexus, see? We would give this vibration for at least an hour and a half each day.
-
Every second day see that there is given a thorough massage to the body from the base of brain to the end of spine. Well that olive oil and myrrh be rubbed in near those portions of body where same will be absorbed or taken up by lymphatic circulation - but massage well into body equal parts of the tincture of myrrh and olive oil, heating the oil and adding the myrrh. Do not make larger quantity at time than is used for the massage. Arm pits, across the abdomen, across the lower portion of the spine, and in the sides, see? This kept up for at least thirty (30) days - that is, the whole treatment, see? thirty days. Then we would give further instructions for the complete correction of these conditions for [4371].
-
We are through at present.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/12/27 EC’s letter to [4371]: “I enclose you, herewith the reading that was gotten at the appointed time. I feel sure, by the experience of others, if you will follow out the suggestions made, in the manner given, you will gain the desired results from same.
“We hope in the very near future to establish a hospital as a portion of the work of the Association, and we hope and trust all those who are interested in the benefits that may be gained through these sources will avail themselves of the knowledge of the physician in charge with same. Data concerning this will be sent you in the very near future.
“I received your letter regarding the check and closing of the bank. I enclose you herewith this check, and shall be glad if you make same all right.
“We assure you it is our desire to be of help if possible, and we hope you will cooperate with us in trying to be of help to others…”
R2. 7/20/27 Association of National Investigators Questionnaire completed by [4371]:
REMARKS:
“Inasmuch as you have totally failed to locate my trouble - palsy of the hands and a case of [?] [handwriting is illegible in letter], I have decided not to follow your suggestions. Enclosed check, which you may collect if you think it proper…”
R3. 8/17/27 EC’s letter to Mr. [4371]: “I have long desired the opportunity to write you respecting your report on your reading. I do not like to be persistent as respecting information given through these sources, but we do desire to study to know whether it is consistent or not with the actual conditions of the individual. Of course, not being a physician myself, I know I’m not qualified to say that the report in the least is consistent - but, from the general aspect of the information, it seems to me that it would be. Hence the desire that I have had for years to have an institution where such information might be studied in a scientific manner, under the direction of competent physicians, and thus be able to thoroughly determine the value of such information as respecting the individual cases desiring such. This I hope to have in full operation in a very short time now, and I would like to ask that within the next ninety days that you write us again - let us take this matter up and study it in collaboration with the facts you know yourself respecting your condition, and see if we may not be of service.
“Trusting you will cooperate with us in this matter…”

Background
B1. 5/24/27 [4371]‘s letter to EC: “About three weeks ago I wrote you a letter asking for a diagnosis and enclosed check. Please see if you have received the letter and if not, tell me if you can give my case your attention and when…”
B2. 5/30/27 EC’s letter to Mr. [4371]: “I am in receipt of yours of the 24th. This is the first communication that we have any record of coming to our office, so we have not received a check from you, nor a request for a diagnosis. We shall be glad, however, to make an appointment for a reading for you, but our first open date is the afternoon of Monday, July 11th. If the day and time as set is satisfactory, you will please give us the necessary information on the enclosed card.
“As you will see, it is necessary that we know where you are at the time set for the reading. I am in hopes that you will be able to locate the letter with the check, for we did not receive same.
“You will enclose with the appointment card whatever contribution you wish to make towards this work.
“We are sending you some data also regarding the phenomena. We sincerely hope that we may be of service…”
B3. 6/3/27 [4371]‘s letter to EC: “Yours of May 30th received and I enclose card filled out and a check. If anything should happen to prevent my being in … on specified date, I will inform you. If I get relief you may expect another donation. My former letter was returned. It was opened by mistake…”
B4. 6/11/27 [4371]‘s letter to EC: “The bank on which I issued check has failed. If you have not collected, please let me hear from you and I will send check on another bank…”
