This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of November, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [4380], via Mrs. D. P. Taylor.
[Edgar Cayce, Mrs. Cayce; Conductor, Gladys Davis; Steno.]
Time of Reading At her home in 12:20 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
Now, we find there are many conditions as need correcting for the better functioning of the physical forces of this body. Many of these conditions are of the general condition, and in the system’s attempt to centralize, localize, or to meet the needs of those conditions necessary for the better functioning bring distress to various portions of the body, and in this way cause distresses in acute attacks of conditions as relating to the functioning of the assimilating and of the eliminating system, giving distresses from same through various portions, where conditions show that the body needs being equalized, rather than to attempt to adjust one portion without taking into consideration the conditions as exist in the general system - for to give relief to one portion of the system - having reached the conditions as are existent in this body, Mrs. [4380] we are speaking of - we would find that to relieve one without taking this in consideration is to bring stress again on another portion of the body; for as we find in portions of the system (abdominal) where stresses were relieved, were only to bring about distress in another portion of the body, through not having equalized or brought collaboration of the functioning system.
-
Now, to meet the needs of these under the present conditions, and to bring about those forces as would best bring a normal force for the body, first would be to apply to the system those properties in medicinal form that would come near bringing the normal equalization, and to apply, osteopathically, those necessary vibrations set in motion by the manipulation of the body in such a way and manner as to relieve the tension in the nerve centers, as has been created throughout the cerebro-spinal system, relaxing those as are necessary to break up lesions, also to remove stress on adhesions in portions of the system - being careful during the same period of the diet, and of the correct and right amount of exercise, and of the general condition of the system, until we can reach that point wherein the system begins to adjust itself. Then we may meet the needs of these by specific conditions in the system, or by such changes as are necessary to meet the needs of the system’s adjusting itself to the correct adjusting, and add to or take from properties as would be applied in system to bring about a correction of the conditions in the body, see?
-
Then, to meet these at present, we would begin at once with those general deep manipulations, osteopathically given, paying especial attention to those conditions as exist in the upper dorsal and in the lower lumbar and sacral, with enough of the muscular manipulation in trunk portion of body to exercise the liver and the organs of same to eliminate near normal - for, with the medicinal properties as should be taken, this would be necessary, for this to be assimilated and eliminated through its correct channels in the body.
-
Prepare this, then, to be taken during the period this manipulation is given, and be taken persistently, consistently, for through these means, or by the application of both of these, we will bring relief for this body. First we would take 8 ounces of Wild Cherry Bark. Put this in 1 gallon of distilled water. Reduce by simmering (not boiling) to 1 quart. Strain off. Then add 4 ounces of sugar, and reduce again by slow boiling to 1/2 the quantity. Then we would add this:
Syrup of Sarsaparilla Compound…1 ounce, Elixir of Stillingia…1/2 ounce, Elixir of Calisaya…1/2 ounce, Tincture Yellow Dock Root…1/2 ounce, Tincture Burdock Root…1/2 ounce, Iodide of Potassium, 10% solution…30 minims, Bromide of Potassium, 10% solution…30 minims, Tincture of Capsici…2 minims.
Add then 2 ounces pure grain alcohol, with 2 drams Balsam of Tolu cut in it. Shake solution well to-gether before each dose is taken, which would be half teaspoonful 4 times each day.
-
Do not eat meats! Especially do not eat any hog meat. Rather gruels. Whole wheat flour should be used at all times. As much green vegetables as is possible to use. Do not eat apples. Other fruits may be taken in moderation, especially grapefruit or orange juice of mornings. Eggs only taken as they may be coddled - not hard, nor too soft. Use beef JUICES, but not the beef itself. This would be made by the steaming process, see? Not over seasoned - any of the foods, yet sufficient to give the palatable condition, also to assimilate with the juices as are secreted in the system. Well that the alkaline Petrolagar be used as the form of the property to aid in the elimination through the system, though with the proper manipulation osteopathically - which should be at least every other day for at least twenty-eight (28) treatments - this will be found to be reduced gradually, the Petrolagar, see? with medicinal properties used properly.
-
After the forty (40) days of the full treatment, we would then give those conditions necessary for the changes in this body, Mrs. [4380].
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 11/20/26 EC’s letter to [4380]:
Mrs. [4380] …, Alabama
Dear Mrs. [4380]:
As you will see from the enclosed, we got the reading for you this morning. I am very much in hopes that this will prove both interesting and beneficial, and I am sure it will if you will carry out the suggestions given.
I do not know whether you have an osteopath near you or not. If you haven’t, I would suggest that you take this reading to Dr. Percy Woodall in Birmingham. He has had considerable experience with following the suggestions given in these readings, and I am sure he will give you the osteopathic treatments exactly as suggested in the reading.
As for the prescription, I think you can have this prepared at the Greene Drug Company, Birmingham. However, if you experience any trouble in getting this filled, send the whole reading to the Burrow, Martin Pharmacy, 265 Granby St., Norfolk, Va. I’m sure they will attend to it for you, but I think you won’t have any trouble getting it prepared there.
Please let us hear from you from time to time, and at the end of the forty days we will want to give another reading, to suggest further treatment or changes. I am sure though that you will see a great deal of improvement by that time. However, it would be well to have another reading and check up on the condition and suggest further.
As you know, it is my desire to be of help if possible. If there is anything you do not understand, please write me, and I shall be glad to help out in any way possible.
Hoping to hear from you, and hoping that I have been and may be of service, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

My dear Mr. Cayce:
Since filling out the form to be returned to you [Par. R3 below], after having received the reading have received the news of a member of our family taken suddenly ill and not expected to live. So have postponed going to Birmingham until later to take osteopath treatments as suggested from Dr. Percy Woodall. But hope to go soon, and carry out the suggestions for the improvement of my health. The reading just seems to fit my condition exactly. And do feel like I shall be benefited. For which I will be more than grateful to you for. And as I am benefited, hope I may be able from time to time as I can to help the cause, for the sake of others. Will write you when I commence the treatments. Kindly thanking you again, am Most Respectfully, Mrs. [4380]

R4. 1/2/27 [4380]‘s letter to EC:
My dear Mr. Cayce,
Doubtless you wonder why you haven’t heard from me before now, in regard to the reading you gave me on Nov. 20th. Was unable to come to Birmingham to Dr. Woodall until last night. Will take my first treatment tomorrow morning. Will write you later in regard to the results obtained from these treatments and also taking the medicine as advised. Still have the blank you wish me to fill out and will after taking treatments for a month, fill it out as you requested.
Yours very gratefully, Mrs. [4380]
R5. 1/15/27 [4380]‘s letter:
My Dear Mr. Cayce:
Have been in Birmingham since the first and since being here have taken six treatments from Doctor Woodall. Taking them Monday, Wed., and Friday of each week. He doesn’t give any on Sundays. Am so glad to say that after taking just the six treatments, can already see a decided change for the better. And believe after taking the twenty-eight treatments - as you suggested will still be better. Oh how wonderful it will be if I can go home well and how grateful I shall always be to you. Have a blank that was mailed me to fill out after being under Dr. Woodall a month, which will gladly do.
Most gratefully yours, Mrs. [4380]

NAME: [4380] ADDRESS: …, Alabama
Kindly advise us in the space below if you have followed all, or any part, of the suggestions given in your reading of Nov. 20, 1926, and give us in detail the exact results you have obtained.
My Dear Mr. Cayce,
Came to Birmingham Jan. 1st and Dr. Woodall gave me in the month of Jan. fifteen treatments. You can see by calendar enclosed the days I took them. Slipped in one or two as those were days I suffered so and Dr. Woodall advised me to come at such times to him. And always I got relief for the time being. While at times I still suffer badly with my left side and back, at the same time I can see a decided change and am in hopes by the time I take the full twenty-eight treatments along with the medicine you advised me to take, that I will be a well woman. Dr. Woodall said last week he felt like the trouble was giving way under the treatments. Try to stick to diet - just as near as I can to be in a boarding house. Am trusting when I write you at the end of this month can say I am entirely relieved. If necessary to write me you may write me at my home town and it will be forwarded to me here.
Gratefully - Sincerely yours, Mrs. [4380] - In Birmingham, Ala., Feb. 1st, 1927
R7. 3/13/27 [4380]‘s letter to EC:
My Dear Mr.Cayce,
Have returned home after taking the twenty-eight treatments from Dr. Woodall as advised by you. While at times, I feel my old trouble just slightly, am greatly improved. And feel like maybe, since taking the treatments, maybe strong enough to overcome the attacks entirely in time. Feel so grateful to you and hope I can soon show my gratitude in a substantial way. Stayed in Birmingham through Jan. and Feb. Am just writing to let you know the results of the treatments. Really feel better than I have in years.
Yours most gratefully, Mrs. [4380]
R8. 3/24/27 EC’s letter to [4380]:
Dear Mrs. [4380]:
I was very glad to have yours of the 13th, and to know that you are feeling a whole lot better. I am sure, as you say, with a little time and a little care and attention, you will soon be perfectly normal and alright. It is certainly wonderful to have such reports, and I am in hopes, sometime in the near future, when we have our institute going, that you will come in and see us, see how the work is done, and the good that is being accomplished for those that follow out the suggestions as given.
I certainly hope you will let us hear from you from time to time. Know that we are always at your service.
With kindest personal regards, Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Sir:
A dear friend of mine, Mrs. D. P. Taylor of Selma made me a visit this morning. Hadn’t seen her in several years. Was telling her of my bad health and being in hospitals, and still suffering so much. Think yet the Doctors have failed to locate my trouble. She was telling me of you and asked me to write you and see if I could get a reading. I believe that is the way she expressed it. Would like to hear from you at the earliest date possible in regard to your terms for such. Hoping to hear from you at an early date.
Am most respectfully, [4380]
