This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of June, 1927, in accordance with request made by self, through Mrs. […], via Mrs. [2203] and Mr. Morton H. Blumenthal.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. Now, we find, while the physical conditions of the body are such that there is little to build on, yet there may be added that for the physical forces that will bring help, aid, and relief, and much retard and improve those conditions that are being enacted, as it were, in the physical forces of this body, [4424], we are speaking of; for, as we see, the condition is as of a hardening of the outer coat or layer of the nerve plexus and centers, as has to do with impulse, or of the white nerve center activity - for, as we see, the nerve reaction is of the double nature, and with the activity of its center (the brain) there is both the direct and reflex action in same. With the condition that produces this hardening, there comes the inability of the reflex to coordinate or be controlled by the body. Hence it has been termed agitan.

4. In the physical forces of [4424] these are those, as we find:

IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this, as we see, has been kept in fair condition, by the constant stimulation for the circulation, regarding the general physical forces of the body; yet gradually has this ability to store energy or rebuild in perfect coordinating form throughout the system been losing ground, as it were. Hence the condition has been called that of the creeping nature, see?

6. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this we find rather the seat of the trouble. To give the history would be to give the activities and those exercises of the body, physical and mental, and of too much medicine used improperly. In the reaction from same is that there was produced in-coordinative forces in nerve and blood supply, finding in their respective centers - as were first attacked - that of the nature as to produce MUCH of the same impulse as calculus conditions would be in centers, ganglions, and impulse nerve centers. This then gradually brought on this paresis of this character and nature as we see.

7. The general functioning of the brain, of the organs of the body, very good, when all considered, and the brain forces extra good. Hence the ability - even under present conditions - to bring relief in many ways for this body, and in this manner would this be carried out:

8. First prepare the mode of electric vibration as will be created in this character and nature of compound:

9. To one and a half (1 1/2) gallons of rain water, in a crock or glass container, add:

Plain Charcoal…1/2 pound, Copper Sulphate…1 1/4 pounds, Sulphuric Acid C.P…1 ounce, Common Zinc…3 drams.

10. That this solution may take charge properly, and that this thrown off may be of the proper vibration, we would place over top of container a wooden board, through which holes would be made, in which there may be inserted one-quarter (1/4) flat or round or oval bar of nickel, extending half an inch (1/2”) above the top of board. Do not let solution come closer than an inch to two inches (1” to 2”) of the top of the container. The other pole should be of copper, see? about the same size. To charge this, connect with the vibration of thirty (30) cycles, hundred and twenty (120) amperes, and charge for one (1) hour, see? just as charging a storage battery. When disconnected, to each of these poles connect insulated small copper wires. To the copper pole there will be connected the small anode or plate, see? To the nickel pole there will be connected the larger anode, or about the size of one and a half inch (1 1/2”) diameter - circular - plate of the nickel - thin sheet, that bends or is flexible to the body, see? On this larger anode or nickel anode plate there will be the broken connection with a lead anode, or bent - that they enter a solution, see? which will be - in glass container - two (2) grains of Chloride of Gold to one (1) ounce of distilled water, see? This will be attached to the body - this larger plate - LAST. Attaching smaller plate to ankle or wrist first. The larger plate to the umbilicus, see? or just above. This vibration, with the Gold Solution, be given to the body for at least one (1) hour every OTHER day.

11. With this same charging machine - with another anode and a solution - which will contain Spirits of Camphor - will be attached to the body, and THIS time attach to opposite ankle or wrist from which the smaller one was attached, see? and the larger plate to the umbilicus again, see? attaching this last.

12. Do that, and with the gentle massage that is necessary for the body to keep the equilibrium, as is seen, from time to time, this will bring about a change for the body.

13. When this solution has discharged itself - which will take place in four to five (4 to 5) weeks - at the end of five (5) weeks, then, we would give further instructions and information for this body.

14. Do then, as we have given, for the present.

15. See, this makes the charge every day - one day the Gold, the next day the Camphor, so each comes every other day. Do not use the same container for solution. Do not use the same anodes. Keep anodes separate, so they do not discharge themselves. Cleanse same each time as it is taken and taken from the body, or as it is to be connected and disconnected from the poles in solution, after being given, see?

16. We are through for the present.

R1. 6/13/27 EC’s letter to Mr. [4424]: “In compliance with a request from Mr. Blumenthal, over the phone - following the one made from Mrs. […], we enclose you, herewith, the reading as was gotten regarding your physical condition. I remember that we have had at least two other cases somewhat similar - in description - to your own, and while the treatments as were suggested are not exactly alike, they are similar to the treatments suggested for those two. One of these followed out the suggestions given, with REMARKABLE results! The other did NOT, and the usual conditions - as I understand from those who should know - has been the result. So I’m very much in hopes that you will at least give this a trial, and I will appreciate it if you will let us hear from you occasionally, for it is my sincere desire to be of help if possible, and especially to those where seemingly all else has failed…”

R2. 6/13/27 EC’s letter to Morton H. Blumenthal: “Now, first of all, I got the reading for Mr. [4424]. There seems promise for a great deal of help and improvement for this man. We have never had just such another Appliance given in a reading, so if you can have this built it will be the first one ever built, though there has been given in many readings data concerning how various properties might be administered to the system through various forms of electronic force. I certainly hope that it will prove as effective as all the other Appliances have which have been given from time to time that had never been used before. I don’t know anyone that could help you out with this, unless it is: [554] in the furniture department of … who had SOMETHING of the same character of machine to have made [for his son [4613]] except it was not charged before it was to be used. In this one, of course, you understand, it is only charged the one time - not every time it is used, for, as I understand, or have been told, a solution of this character PRODUCES electricity. I’m sure he’ll be glad to help you out, or to offer suggestions, and you should get in touch with him anyway…”

B1. 5/18/27 Mrs. [2203]‘s letter: ”…We have a friend who doctors say has Parkinson’s Disease and is incurable. He suffers much, but is so fine and worthwhile a man to the world that before I have received my own diagnosis, that I beg you to send him a blank and all your literature that either he or his secretary may apply for a reading. I may add that he is not a poor man and any relief even will be well paid for.

“I would like you to arrange an appointment for him now at my request and so notify him for I have spoken of you and your work to him. Even a HOPE enthuses him and he would be glad to enter a sanatorium if any promise of health were held out. However, he can and does have the best help obtainable…”

B2. 5/27/27 EC’s letter to [4424]: “At the request of Mrs. [2203] of …, N.J., I am sending you some data regarding the work of the Association of National Investigators, Incorporated, and feel that possibly this will be a means of your gaining some knowledge regarding your physical condition, with possibly help or relief from same. If you are interested, we shall be very glad to hear from you.

“Trusting that we may be of service…”

B3. 6/1/27 Nurse requested date and time for Mr. [4424]‘s reading.

B4. 6/7/27 EC’s letter: “Replying to yours of the 1st, regarding making the appointment for Mr. [4424] for a reading, just at the present time our appointments are such that it will be some weeks before we can get to this - and, too, there are some definite changes being made as to how the work is to be conducted - but sometime about the first week in July we will write you again, and if Mr. [4424] still desires the reading, we shall be glad to take the matter up at that time and we sincerely hope that we may be of service…”

B5. 6/7/27 EC’s letter to Morton H. Blumenthal: “You will remember, possibly, during one of our conversations while you were here, I spoke to you regarding a Mr. [4424], whom a Mrs. [2203] wrote us from …, desired a reading. I have today come across this correspondence, and have written Mr. [4424]‘s nurse that we would make an appointment sometime the first of July, or would write him what was necessary to have an appointment. Remembering part of our conversation, I wondered if it would be possible, if you were in this neighborhood anywhere - for you to go in and see Mr. [4424] in person, talk to him about the work, and possibly we might be able to be helpful to him and still at the same time it would help our cause along. This is the address: … He knows nothing of the work or phenomena, I think, save what he may have gained from the two little pamphlets that were sent him. He may not have even heard what these have to say. That I don’t know. He seems to be a friend of Mrs. [2203]. She wrote us and asked us to send him our literature, and to make an appointment for a reading for him. When we sent the literature, Mrs. [2203] told us that we would hear from his nurse, and the request for his reading is from a Mrs. […] - so that is the whole story, I think - but I hope that you will have the opportunity to see him in the next two or three weeks, even before we write him. Possibly Mrs. [2203] will have written us again.
