This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of September, 1932, in accordance with request made by Associate Member Mrs. […], …, N.J., of the the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [4425], and those conditions and circumstances that surround the body at this time.

2. Now, as we find, there has been given the body that suggestion that there was the necessity for operative forces to correct those disturbances that hinder the functioning of the system as related to those conditions with the digestive system. Under the existent conditions, as we find, these measures would be preferable to any form of treatment other than that, in the present circumstances.

3. If there will be the proper preparations, in the building up of the blood supply as related to the general conditions, that will make for better abilities within the system to create proper coagulation, proper distribution of that which may be assimilated, these operative forces should prove very successful, and - without unforeseen conditions arising - make for the better conditions in this body.

4. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Is an operation necessary? (A) As we find, as given, this would be the more satisfactory manner to deal with the existent conditions, provided there are the proper preparations made as to the abilities of the system to make for coagulation properly, or sufficient of the red blood increase that there may be created in system from same that to make for the proper coagulations.

6. (Q) What may be done to do this, or to build up the blood supply? (A) Make or take the count of the numbers of red blood, white blood, and how the differentiations are in the urea and the hemoglobin of the system, and supply those in the food values, by the rest, by the changes necessary for the replenishing or building of same.

7. (Q) Any other advice at this time. (A) This, as we find, would be the better under existent conditions.

8. We are through for the present.

My dear Mrs. […]:

We are enclosing a copy of the information that was gotten at your request for Mr. [4425]. Apparently, from the circumstances and conditions that surround him, it would be very much better for the operation to be carried out as suggested, if the proper precautions are taken. Not so often do we find the readings suggesting operative measures, yet some very delicate and major operations have been prescribed at times.

Where decisions have already been made, if they coincide at all with what might be suggested through these sources, no alterations are made.

We will certainly be expecting to be acquainted with the progress of the case. Know that if at any time we may be of service, it is our whole desire to do so.

R2. 9/29/32 A.R.E. Secretary’s letter:

Mrs. […], …, N.J.

My dear Mrs. […]:

In regard to the recent reading which you were instrumental in obtaining for Mr. [4425] we desire to issue the membership in your name, as you are the one who sought the information. Therefore, in order that our records may be complete, will you please fill out and return the inclosed Associate Membership form at your earliest convenience so that we may forward your membership card? This, of course, incurs no additional cost on your part.

We greatly appreciate your interest and the desire to help one physically suffering. It is our aim to be of service and help in every way possible. We are sincerely hoping Mr. [4425] will soon be on the road to complete recovery. Will you please let us know of the success of the operation, if this is decided upon, and as to his progress from time to time?

R3. 9/29/32 Letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Miss Goodman, a neighbor, highly recommended you to me. She told me all the information you wanted was the patient’s name, age and address. I could have given you more definite information regarding [4425], but then I would not have had the faith in you that Miss Goodman’s recommendation warranted. In other words, I would not have come to you. It seemed like an impossibility but we were desperate enough to try.

Your physical reading for [4425] suggests the following:

1. Digestive disturbances. 2. Complete blood count with differentiations in the urea and hemoglobin. 3. Operation.

Where and what is this morbid condition that warrants an operation?

I am sorry if I seem unjust, but so much time and money is wasted without definite results, and I feel as though you consider your obligations ended with your letter of the 27th, instant.

R4. 10/3/32 EC’s reply:

Dear Mrs. […]:

Yours of the 29th just came. I do not consider that my obligation to any individual, who may seek through these channels, is ever ended as long as one desires to seek through these channels. There are many hundreds of individuals who have been seeking help for their physical conditions through these sources for many years. I do not blame you at all for considering it an impossibility, from what Miss Goodman’s report must have been to you. I do not know Miss Goodman, nor from whence she got her information.

In regard to the readings, have you read closely the little booklet? We do not know nor have any idea what the information will be concerning any individual. The experience of the years has taught us that the following rules should be observed in order to get the best results from readings:

There must be implicit faith in the divine within each individual. There must be the desire on the part of the one obtaining the reading, or one responsible for that individual; and there must be sufficient faith to follow the suggestions that may be given. There must be the belief in the divine that may awaken within the individual the possibility of God’s intercedence into his affairs.

The information for Mr. [4425] was rather unusual. I attributed this to the fact that he had already made the decision that the operation was necessary; in other words, that he had been told this so often that his innate self believed it. Secondly, no doubt there had been the correct diagnosis by the physician who suggested the operation. Then, this being true, what more could have been given? I assure you, however, that if you desire we will be very glad to take the matter up further. Should there be an particular questions you want to ask, other than regarding the morbid condition that warrants operation, we would be very glad for you to send them in and we will undertake this again for you. Will he be at the address given at practically any period that we might have room for the appointment? As you understand, we are only able to make two appointments in any one day. I hope that, if you both desire it, we may be of service. That is our whole idea and purpose. If we fail in this we have failed in everything.

Dear Mrs. […]:

We have yours of the 19th with application for membership [Membership form was filled out by Mrs. […] in Mr. [4425]‘s name.] and also the request for a physical reading for Mr. [4425]. It will be possible to make this appointment for Tuesday afternoon, the 27th, between 3:00 and 4:00 o’clock Eastern Standard Time. It will be necessary that we have the exact address at which he will be during that hour. Also it might be well for you to send in a list of questions to have asked regarding the information desired, as this would assist you in understanding just what is given regarding such conditions. It would be very much better if we could also have Mr. [4425]‘s cooperation. We hope that we may be of assistance and aid at this time.

The reading will not be taken, of course, unless we have the confirmation of the appointment and the address at which he will be.
