This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of February, 1929, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [4429], recommended by Mrs. David E. Kahn.

Time of Reading 5:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. N.Y. City.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [4429], of …, N.Y. City, and you will answer the questions which I shall ask you regarding this body’s mental and business relations.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [4429].

3. Now, there are many conditions as trouble the body, yet these should become as nothing would the body - mentally, physically, spiritually - first take stock of self and that which self is attempting to do through the channels the body has chosen for the manifesting of its conception of the relation of an individual to life, and its life’s relations to those whom the body physically and mentally contacts. While the channel may be questioned by some, there is not a greater good performed in few OTHER channels than that as chosen by the entity; either for good or bad, or for the correct conception OF life’s relationship - than that chosen. Then, in taking stock, let this be first and foremost in the mind of the entity, for THIS IS TRUTH!

4. The life is so spent that the conception of same gained by others is the reflection of the body’s, the entity’s, concept of ITS God!

5. While fame and fortune has its place in man’s, or woman’s experience - still, this fame, this fortune, should be rather the RESULT of life’s expenditure than the life expended FOR fame or fortune. Get the difference! for there is vast difference! and on the entity’s being able to gain the proper concept of its relation in the sphere chosen depends the real success of the entity.

6. Those questions, as to how the entity may so govern its affairs of the world as to enable the body, the entity, to carry forward the pursuit of that life, that endeavor chosen, should be rather SECONDARY than first! this, as apparent, is first considered as that as has been said of old, “If thine child ask for bread would you give him stone?” If thine neighbor is hungry would you give him advice?” Meaning, then, that the conditions are to be taken as they NOW exist!

7. There is seen and known by the entity that thus far the career, the endeavors, have NOT been satisfactory to its public, nor its managers. Then, wherein lies that trouble - or that condition that would bring the success so desired?

8. In this: The entity has put fame, position, fortune, first and foremost! Put purport - the aim, the desire of the heart, the SOUL, the LIFE - in manifesting before men that concept in self of the true relationship of man and man’s experience to the Creative Energy, or God (call it by whatever name may be termed)! If fame be thy god, then the feet of same is clay. If position or power, or wealth be thy god, then the feet of same are in the ashes and sand. Would that that is BEST be shown IN thine self, put GOD before self, before fame, before position - seeking that first! THEN these things may be added unto you! Ready for questions.

9. (Q) To whom can I sell - for $6000 cash - lot 10, block 23 - 25 feet by 140 feet - at east end of Main St., …, Oklahoma, facing Ford Motor Company on north, lies alongside brick hardware store in which I have option on wall privileges? (A) This, as we find here, may NOT be consummated at ONCE - but there is an OPPORTUNITY to dispose of same to the manager of the motor company in this place (or assembly plant) in April or May, this year.

10. (Q) What can I do to get prima donna job? am I seeing the right managers? or if it is my work, what can I do to better it? (A) Follow that as has been given, in first finding self and for what purpose and purport the life is spent in the endeavors. When this is accomplished in self, the SELF will DIRECT the body to the RIGHT managers! We are through.

Dear Miss [4429]:

I hope the enclosed information will assist you in gaining the position and status desired by you. We realize (as I’m sure you do) that information gathered through such sources - or any other source, for that matter - is not worth while unless we put it into practice. I oftentime am loath to give first information for individuals when they approach it from the viewpoint as your questions indicate. Not that they are not just as vital to the individual as any physical condition, but one certainly must realize that information of this character - if it is to be considered at all - is not simply a “put and take” game.

I certainly believe, from the number of years experience I have had with this, that if you will study it very carefully you will see that you really have something on which you can build a real, wonderful, successful career. Of course if you throw it aside it will simply mean nothing - but I really believe, not because I gave it - for it is NOT me, Miss [4429]. Let me assure you of that! Whence it comes I do not know, but if you will apply it - it is NOT an intangible thing at all! but a thing you will soon learn to know how to apply in a way that will make life very much worth while.

I would be very glad to hear from you, and I assure you it is my desire to be of help if possible. Any question you would like to ask me any time about anything that may arise, if you think I can possibly be of help (that is, the source through which the information comes - for I, myself, am nothing), I’d be more than glad to try and do whatever I can.

Mr. E. Cayce 115 W. 35th Street Virginia Beach, Va.

My dear Mr. Cayce,

Early this morning you no doubt received a night letter from me with ten dollars asking for immediate help: Asking what is wrong with my singing or work so I can fix it and upon this advice thereby help save the show I’m now in.

I have my membership card and understand from your literature that with it there is a reading. I also collected this idea from Mrs. Kahn. Have you come to my first inquiry about the selling of property? This is very important to me and my family, at this time, since money seems to be our scarcity or fear.

Your work is indeed interesting, I have begun some of my work thru Unity and have found it easy to understand. Of course, your work is beyond this. I am anxious to know more about it.

B3. 2/3/29 [4429]‘s letter:

New York City

Dear Sir:

Your Miss Davis and Mrs. Kahn have informed me of the various reasons for your neglecting my earnest requests. Of course, they aren’t as important as some one’s life, now that you are back at your work, but I sincerely hope you can give me your advice on this LOT very soon.

Your help will greatly increase my education and ease my debts and frame of mind.

My show closed, so the wire for advice there, is of no value now. I have so much confidence in your work thru the Kahn’s and since having received your several booklets, but my patience is becoming a bit weary. Can’t you give me a little attention at this time?

Perhaps on my second request you’ll be able to tell me my errors - in case I’m seeing the wrong people for a new job. Mr. Kahn tells me you gave him excellent advice concerning his sticking to the right business associate. My connections evidently aren’t what they should be or I would have what I want. My work always seems to be satisfactory, tho I may be wrong there - something isn’t right this year, at least. May I hear from you?
