This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of January, 1927, in accordance with request made by her sister, Mrs. […] via Mrs. Meyer Boskey, “who is a friend of David E. Kahn.”

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. Now, we find there are many abnormal conditions with this body. Many of the existing conditions have to do with that as has been produced by the body being unable to equalize the eliminations from the system, causing the dilation of tissue, and with this producing, then, the fullness to extent where there has come about adhesions that cause distress.

4. Now, these are the conditions as we find with this body, [4465], we are speaking of. First:

IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find shows the effect of the condition as has been produced in the system by the over taxation to the body of the toxins as have been re-absorbed and re-infection as has been shown in the system from time to time. In this, then, we find there are many elements of the blood that show the distress as is produced, as is seen in the inability to cope with that that produces or brings about the proper coagulation in the system, or that brings about the proper rebuilding forces for the various organisms of the distressed system.

6. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, in this we find the seat, cause, or beginning of the troubles, produced by the inadaptability of the body’s becoming in a normal distribution forces, through those lesions produced by the inactive forces of both cerebro-spinal and sympathetic nerve system; by the form of lesions produced in the lower dorsal, and the whole lumbar region. Hence causing, through the over taxation, that of the plethora condition in the mesenteric system, and adhesions being brought in tissue, about the glands in the right side, brings then distresses to the whole of the system, especially that of the hepatics, bringing distress to the digestive system, further incapacitating the system to produce that for the system that brings about the perfect assimilations in the body. The gradual deterioration of tissue bringing, then, inflammation and distresses to the liver and the kidneys. With properties taken in the system to reduce temperature, or to bring about the normal activities in eliminations, only tends to incite forces in the system through that of reflex conditions. Hence the gradual debilitation of the vital forces in body sets up. Then,

7. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS PROPER, we find all organs of the trunk or torso become involved in the condition. It then becomes necessary either through the operation to remove that of destroyed tissue, or to bring to bear on the system that which will set up the stronger eliminations through their normal channels, and CORRECTING the conditions in the cerebro-spinal and sympathetic system, releasing, as it were, the vital forces necessary to bring a normal equilibrium through the body. This might be accomplished through the necessary adjusting of those conditions in the lumbar and dorsal region, through manipulation osteopathically or chiropractically brought about. Necessarily, this would require a longer period, but under existing conditions would be the safer, at the PRESENT period, and then, when the body is brought nearer the normal conditions, it would be much easier for the body to adjust itself to normal forces. In this would be the better - through the osteopathic - for these will be easier in adjustments. Necessary to apply heat to the body, especially that of the water heat, and then make adjustments. Following each adjustment (for only a portion would be made at the time), apply the Alpine Rays to the trunk portion of body, especially over the abdomen.

8. After such treatment, wear the heavy pad in that of the Radium Appliance, for this will bring the quicker equalization to blood and nerve system, and stimulating tissue in the trunk portion of body. See?

9. Do that.

10. The osteopathic treatments should be given at least every day. The application of the hot water necessary for correct adjustments every other day. The Alpine Rays, then, should be given every OTHER day. The Appliance or pad should be worn continually, and this may be placed for half an hour each day over those portions in the right side that give distress.

11. Do that.

Acknowledging your suggestion for pad for […] and also your letter of January 20.

As manufacturers of Radio-Active Health Appliances, we have found that besides being a remunerative business, it gives us an opportunity of doing a great deal of good for our folks. First is the physical relief - then our personal attention and solicitude for their welfare other than the physical - which is not TACT with us, but an absolute sincerity of purpose, makes them our friends forever. A letter came to me, personally, today from a dear little old lady in Wellington, Colorado - and the first line is this “Mr. Dutcher, your Company is one of my best friends” - and another little lady who is selling the appliances in Christiansburg, Va. in a letter today pours out her heart full of troubles telling us that in our helpful letters she finds new courage.

So you see, Mr. Cayce, we are something besides cold-blooded manufacturers. True it is, we carry on our business, as no doubt you carry on your own, to make a livelihood - and it has been our pleasure to watch it grow from practically nothing but an “idea” to a corporation of no small size.

Naturally, Mr. Degnen, as the inventor of these appliances, made them for one purpose - to build up the blood stream, not as a plaster or a poultice to be applied to affected parts - but to reach the nerve centers and build up the circulation so that it can reach every portion of the body - carry off the waste and leave the necessary quota of nourishment. There is nothing super-natural or super-human in these little Pads - other than they contain the greatest and most mysterious force in all the world - RADIUM.

In an effort to take care of the sufferer you are following our method exactly - if they are well taken care of, our business will cause no worry.
