This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 23rd day of November, 1932, in accordance with request made by his brother, Mr. [315], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and H. L. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:35 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: We have the body here, this we have had before. Now, as we find, while there are at times those conditions and reactions in the physical force of the body that apparently the body grows weaker, rather than gaining strength or vitality, would there be the more consistent use of those vibrations from the Radio-Active Appliance WITH the benefits derived from the manipulations or adjustments given by the chiropractic applications, these would give much more satisfactory returns and that relief that is given for the MOMENT by the adjustments would be of longer duration, giving the opportunity for a better reaction. As given, had these adjustments been made, or these impulses been quickened more during the developing stage of the conditions, body mentally and structurally, these might have been overcome entirely. Now that they have become constitutional, necessarily these are rather slow in their reaction, and are they kept more in accord with those outlines more satisfactory results may be expected. Not over ten to twenty minutes of the application of the Radio-Active, with those solutions being carried through the anodes connected to the body, so the vibrations are as outlined; these following the adjustments will make for better reaction. Well to test these, that the variation that is ordinarily seen in the pulsation be watched carefully DURING those periods when the applications of the Radio-Active are made, and the regularity that is seen during the application of the Radio-Active Appliance, see?
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Have they been applying the appliance correctly, and in the right places? (A) Had these been in the consistent manner as had been outlined, there would not be the suggestion that these be given more consistently and the effects or benefits given more closely! We would follow these more closely, as given.
Use not only, as outlined, the solution of the stimuli in the appliance but the odor of the foxglove blossom should be in the room, or in the air breathed by the body occasionally. This will be helpful.
- We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/26/32 EC’s letter to [4488]‘s brother, Mr. [315]: ”…I hope the information sent for yourself and brother will not only be interesting but helpful. Apparently, there has not been the concerted effort in regard to your brother; that is, the chiropractor has not relied upon the mechanical appliance as much as he should. If there are any questions regarding this, don’t hesitate to ask them. So far we have never found an instance where this appliance has not been helpful, when followed in the proper way and manner. In some cases it has even been applied alone and has brought some most remarkable results. Of course, I understand that your brother’s condition is one that has baffled the medical world from time immemorial, and - as the first reading indicated it has grown to be something of a constitutional condition, yet from the information I can’t help but believe there is a possibility of getting some response. Of course, I understand there are some conditions that cannot be helped physically.
“As for yourself, you have either made application or are advised to make application, as I understand it, in the government service. I don’t know whether you have ever considered that or not. I hope it will prove as helpful as it intimates it should…”
R2. 1/14/33 EC’s letter to [4488]‘s brother, Mr. [315]: ”…We have received the Radio-Active Appliance and are sending it out to you today by express C.O.D. $12.50 with charges. The fluid is put up in camphor, to make it as the carrier. You will find the directions on the inside…”
R3. 1/14/33 Gray Salter’s directions for [4488]:
“Directions for Radio-Active Appliance #1:
- Fill a one or one and a half gallon stone crock with cracked ice until about the depth of the height of the appliance. Then add cold water until it reaches a level of about one-fourth inch from the top of appliance. Do not let water get over the top of the appliance.
The wires can be attached before appliance is put into the jar, but do not let the plates touch each other.
Allow the appliance to remain in the ice water about fifteen to twenty minutes before attaching to patient.
Use the Radio-Active Appliance, the applications being made in this manner: (for this particular body, [4488]):
The small anode or one first attached, would be to the umbilicii center or the upper portion of the umbilicus center to the right between the pancrean area and the umbilicus.
The large anode which passes through the solution would be attached last to the 2nd and 3rd dorsal center. Apply every other day for ten to twenty minutes. Read part of reading closely where it tells how to use this appliance.
Be very careful of the solution for phial, as it is deadly POISON and if in contact with either a fresh cut on the person, or the mouth, may cause serious trouble.
Keep anodes or plates clean by use of a piece of fine emery paper.
Detach wire after using, wipe water off of appliance and put away until ready for use again.
The solution is put into the large-mouthed phial when ready to use and can be kept in same. The lead wire is bent in the form of a U so that it will go through the mouth of the phial and then the grooved stopper placed [in] the mouth to hold it in place, letting the lead wire come through the grooves. Do not let the lead wire quite touch the bottom of the phial.
“Remove lead wire and wipe off after each treatment, being sure to destroy whatever you wipe it off with. When the wire becomes very dull, brush lightly with emery paper.
“If solution is kept in phial, stopper tightly with solid cork.”
R4. 2/1/33 Mrs. [428]‘s letter to EC: ”…According to your suggestion and according to my agreement, I have started out to follow up a physical reading, which was given for [4488], Nov. 23rd, ‘32 [4488-2]:
“To begin with, as far as I know, this is a very difficult case. I have not the first Reading with me, but do remember that the patient was prenatally affected or born with one heart valve only. As have been told, the heart is as large as a football. Also, according to my knowledge, a condition created before birth is karmic. If I am wrong, I beg to be corrected.
“As you will see by Mr. [315]‘s letter to me, given below, this case needs help badly.”
R5. Mr. [315]‘s letter to Mrs. [428] [which was included in above letter]: “Relative to phone call I feel that I must apologize for not getting in touch with you sooner.
“With the prescribed advice from Mr. Cayce in regard to chiropractor and foxglove inhalation, [4488] had been continually getting worse. It also baffled Dr. Eifertsen [Christian Peter Eifertsen, D.C.], that he admitted he couldn’t understand the case, and to consult the attending physician. Of course, this lingered on so long that [4488] became delirious to such an extent that he couldn’t eat, drink or sleep but moan and shout and carry on 24 hours daily, so that I had to resort to the hospital, almost 3 weeks there now; seems better one day, very bad the next, or vice versa, just like clockwork. He just won’t believe in anyone or does he desire to appreciate anything one tries to do. I do not know, but that it is the best place for him to be, where he is now.
“The Radio-Active Appliance was so delayed in getting it, that I could not use it.
“I must thank you very kindly for taking such an interest in my brother and I certainly appreciate it…”
“P.S. Of course, in the hospital, no one will administer your instructions. What should be done in a case like this? I will gladly do all I can.”
R6. 2/6/33 Mrs. [428] wrote EC that [4488] died Saturday night, 2/4/33.
R7. 2/9/33 EC’s letter to [4488]‘s brother, Mr. [315]: ”…We are indeed sorry to know of your brother’s passing. I know you have for a long time felt a great deal of apprehension regarding his condition. I regret very much that we were unable to be of a service in bringing better physical conditions for him. I do not know wherein the fault lies. To be sure, we have never found this work to be a cure-all; but, as intimated in the information for him, provided there could be the response to the applications a service might be rendered.
“It is very little to offer you our sympathies at such a time, but I pray and trust that your faith, hope, belief in the everlasting Father, Giver of all good and perfect gifts, is such that you may be sustained through these trying hours.
“Please accept our sincerest good wishes, and may we hear from you at some time?…”
R8. 3/6/33 [4488]‘s brother, Mr. [315]‘s letter to EC: ”…I wish to thank you (after a much prolonged time) for the consoling letter received February 9th at the passing of my brother…” [He obtained subsequent Readings for himself and was very active in the work of the Association.]
