This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 3rd day of September, 1929, in accordance with request made by self, through Mr. C. A. Barrett.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. Now, we find there are specific conditions as cause distresses in the physical functioning of this body. These are of rather long standing. There has been, in times back, an injury to the body in the region of the coccyx end, and in the activities as were produced there was a form of streptococci that has been as LOOSE, or as forming occasional pressure on the central nerve system from that reflex from the coccyx to the solar plexus center. This acting directly with hypogastric and pneumogastric, with the pressure produced in lower brain centers - this we find causing the specific conditions. While the physical forces of the body nominally are NEARER to normal than ordinarily, yet this strain on the nerve system, this pressure on the central nerve system, drives that pain to the lower portion of brain to the extent that the blood fails to respond, even through the brain, and acts as a pressure there.

2. To meet the needs, we would - chiropractically or osteopathically - correct that condition existent in the end of spine, APPLYING the ultra violet ray to the solar plexus center, front and back alternately, for not over a period of TWO minutes to begin, gradually increasing as pressure is relieved.

3. Now, the question would naturally arise - if pressure is removed, and that the cause, why apply such measures for the centers that are only reflex? That there may be produced in this center (the solar plexus), both from its frontal radial forces and from those of the cerebrospinal, such elements as to become destructive forces for that as has been moving backward and forward from this, as a strep. This will relieve strain, and relieve those pressures.

6. (Q) Why is the pain in the face? (A) When the central nerve system is involved, and the pressure in the cervical (as comes from the coccyx and the central plexus), and pressure produced on the hypogastric and pneumogastric, the reflex is the third facial nerve. That’s seen, here.

R1. 10/25/29 Letter from [4514]: ”…Acting upon advice of your reading, I consulted Dr. Bybee, Chiropractor, and have had quite a number of adjustments, beginning September 4th and taking four adjustments a week. I have gained seven pounds, am able to sleep nights quite well and enjoy my meals. The spells have decreased considerably and am improving all the time.

“Dr. Bybee is not treating me according to the reading, but a regular chiropractic adjustment and guarantees a cure within four months. If not he will refer to the reading without any further charge.

“I sincerely thank Mr. Cayce, for without his reading I should never have gone to a Chiropractor…”

R2. Summer/48 Verbal report to HLC by [4514]‘s nephew (Nixon?), and to Theron Helms by Dr. Harry R. Bybee (D.C.): [4514] was completely cured through following the treatments recommended. He forever sings the praises of Edgar Cayce for telling him the right line of treatment to follow.
