-
EC: Yes. Now with this body, [4557], we find there are conditions that may be assisted to be brought back to near normal functioning. There are other conditions that to the body have become normal. These may be assisted only in so far as the body would consistently and persistently apply self to the correction of self in its growth in the physical and the mental way and manner; or were the body able to apply wholly that force of the mental within to bring about that continuation of a oneness of purpose in self as to make physical and mental and spiritual a oneness, these may be brought to a normal condition. These may be accomplished only through persistence, and through the consistent, persistence in the attempt to continually try, consistently, being compatible with what is being attempted - either in the mental or the physical, to make the whole of the life, body, mind and SELF, one with the desire of that in the heart of the body, or the spiritual awakening - which may be only accomplished with the communion with the divine forces as are of the creative force within self, and one with the Creative Energy of the universe, or universal forces, or God.
-
As to the physical forces as may be assisted in this body here, to rid same of those conditions wherein the humor at times shows in the effect as is created in the eliminations, and in the manner in which the distribution of same is carried on in the body - this, then, is the cause of these conditions physical that arouse in the system that of the rash, or the conditions as seen in exterior portions of system: To cleanse these we would use first, every third day, take the vapor baths, and in the vapor as is created for same let there be that of the oil of sassafras applied in same. To the half pint of water (this as proportion) add ten minims, or drops of the oil of sassafras. After this is taken there should be the thorough rub down over the whole system of the body with the coarse towel, or cloth, to get a stimulation to the capillary circulation. Especially should this be accomplished in the region of the solar plexus; that is, the 9th, 10th dorsal. Also this should be carried thoroughly down the lower limbs and across the locomotaries, or the sciatic nerve center, to the knees and through the hips and across the abdomen. This will not only set up the circulation as to assist in the eliminations to rid the body of these conditions, but will also assist the body in the reduction of too much weight for the body to carry, with the conditions as desired in same. This also necessary: Do not eat meats or white bread. Rather those of the nature that will carry more of the alkalin than of the acid producing in the system. Fruits then, and vegetables, should be the principal diet of the body, with little or no sweets. This the body may carry out for SELF.
-
Do this for thirty to sixty days, then we would give further instructions for this body - [4557].
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 2/21/29 EC’s letter:
My dear Mrs. [4557]
We are enclosing, herewith, the information which was gotten this morning. You should be able yourself to carry out all of the suggestions given. It will only be necessary for you to obtain one of these vapor cabinets and you take the baths yourself, and follow out your diet yourself. We are sending you an outline that will assist you in knowing just what is included in this character of diet. Then, after you have tried this for thirty to sixty days, we will give another reading to see just how well you are applying yourself - especially as to the mental portion of the suggestions as made. We sincerely hope that we may be of service.
It is not plausible, as we have found Mrs. [4557], to get a reading for the little girl with your own. This would have to be taken separately. Of course, as you know from the data sent you, her reading would only be $10 - if you desired to have it at this time. Or possibly you would prefer to follow out your own suggestions for the next thirty to sixty days and see how you get along, before you try the reading for the little girl.
We want to assure you it is our desire to help. Hoping that we will hear from you, and hoping to have been of service, I am
Sincerely, EDGAR CAYCE EC:GD [Dictated but not read]
R2. 2/6/30 GD’s letter to [4557]:
…, N.J.
Dear Mrs. [4557]-
According to our records, your membership in the Association expired on January 18, 1930. Since you became a member, the Cayce Hospital at Virginia Beach has been completed and is in operation, the results obtained by the patients treated having been most satisfactory.
“The New Tomorrow”, the quarterly publication of the Association, was inaugurated in December, 1929, and will be published regularly for the benefit of our members, a copy of which is mailed to each one.
We are just at the beginning of an intensive educational program, interesting announcements of which will be made within a short time. Plans are under way for the erection of a club house, at which it would be your privilege to remain if at any time you come to Virginia Beach, which we hope all of our members will do. The past year, though it has not exceeded our expectations in the progress of the work, has exceeded them in the rapidity with which it has been accomplished thus far. The Board has a great many things which they are working on for the benefit of all the members and they will be advised of them from time to time.
We are in hopes that YOUR membership has been of great benefit to you and that you will continue with us in our work “That We May Make Manifest Our Love For God And Man.”
The amount necessary to cover the renewal of your membership is
15.00, which constitutes the dues of a Class "A" member, the class to which you are entitled to belong, having originally belonged as a Class "B" member. No readings are included with the payment of this amount, but may be obtained for the usual fee of10.00 each.Because of the great number of appointments ahead for several months, the membership list has been temporarily closed. As a result, there are a great many people waiting to become members, realizing at this time the advantages which they had not recognized heretofore. We would, therefore, thank you to send us your check to cover renewal of membership, or advise us immediately whether or not it is your desire to continue as a member, so that, if not, the opportunity might be given to someone else. A self-addressed envelope is inclosed for your use.
Sincerely yours, [signed] Gladys Davis Assistant Secretary GD:MD

The Association of National Investigators, Inc. Attention of Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Gentlemen:-
I wish to be a member of your Association always, if finances permit. Sorry I was unable to send you my check to cover the $15.00 membership fee for 1930 until now, but am sure that it can be placed to good use even at this late date. Will you please acknowledge it and oblige.
Very truly yours, [4557]
R4. 7/13/67 “I am planning to come to your resort sometime in Aug… I have had a health reading by Mr. Edgar Cayce many years ago, long before his death, and would appreciate continuing to learn more about your association. My daughter along with others are planning to come along if conditions are convenient to all.”

The Association of National Investigators, Inc. Virginia Beach, Virginia Attention of Mr. Edgar Cayce
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
Am so pleased that you were able to make my appointment for a reading as soon as February 21st. I am mighty anxious to have your report as I have always felt that if someone would have him to diagnose my case, I would be assured of a cure and sincerely hope and pray that such will be the case.
However, should you, - in the course of the reading not give me some information that I would be so pleased to have, would thank you to answer the following questions:-
Will my health, after following your suggestions to the letter as far as is possible, be completely recovered and permanently so?
Will my weight be reduced, and, if not, could you advise me what I can do to accomplish this without harm to my system?
Can you give me the name and address of a physician in this vicinity who will follow your suggestions without desiring to make his own diagnosis first and prescribing for me in his own way, thereby losing a great deal of time?
I have a young daughter who will be three years of age May 1st. Can you tell me if she is in perfect health or would you advise me to have a reading given for her as I want her to grow up in robust health?
I will await your report with great interest.
Sincerely, [4557]
