This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of September, 1928, in accordance with request made by his wife, Mrs. […].

Time of Reading King Memorial Hospital, 5:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Selma, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here - this we have had before. Now, we find the body somewhat improved in the conditions as exist, from that as we have had before. There needs be those conditions administered further that have been outlined for same.

2. The oxygen, or creation of those forces and elements that clarify the blood supply for system will aid and assist the body in the nearer normal manner. This should be taken in or through those channels as have been given, or there may be kept those properties loosed in the air that the body breathes that will aid in a like manner. Those of the oil of pine and eucalyptol, or Canadian Balsam and eucalyptol, kept steaming or in hot water, or in those containers that allow this to be loosed in the air the body breathes. THIS will aid also. The quantity would be half a teaspoonful of each in a gallon of water. Not STEAM the body, but loosed, that the body may BREATHE same through the lungs, and thus CLARIFY the blood in its circulation.

3. The addition of the massage and electrical forces with same aid in THIS manner: The massage acts as that that assists the nerve and muscular tissue in those reactions of a nominal circulation, whether related to the nerve or blood supply. Electrical forces, rather that aiding directly through the revibrations as are given to nerve impulse, and through same gives a reaction to the BLOOD supply, especially when same is CLARIFIED by the addition of oxygen in the system to clarify body in reactions.

4. Necessary that the eliminations be kept near normal for the conditions existent. Keep up those administrations as has been given, and we will find a continued improvement in the physical reactions of the body here. Remember, coordination must be kept between the nerve system and the reaction of the central system as respecting assimilations in the body, else we may find reactions bringing a centralized condition wherein the reaction would center about nerve centers, causing then a congestion that would act in the way of paralyzing the reaction of nerve centers from a radial plexus. Hence the coordinating of the system in and through activities necessary to keep the proper relation between the system. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) What would be the best way to get the oxygen? (A) As has been given.

6. (Q) What would be the effect of massages and electrical vibrations on the sluggish circulation? (A) Just that as has been outlined.

7. (Q) Is there a probability of the blood vessels becoming clogged or filled so as to prevent the blood circulating in his head, and causing the confusion in his thoughts and words, and causing sleeplessness? (A) As has been outlined, and of causing other more aggravating conditions, or the reaction being such as to prevent a normal locomotion in various portions of the body. More apt from that than to the brain itself, unless the proper coordinations are kept. Hence the massages and electrical vibrations would aid and abet in keeping the nominal reaction in nerve supply, as well as aiding the blood system, were it allowed to be cleansed through added forces for the reviving of same.

8. (Q) What should his diet be? (A) Those properties that are easily assimilated, and which will add the proper amount of SALINE and iodine in the system. Those as found principally, then, in vegetables, or meat JUICES. Not broths particularly, but rather the juices.

9. (Q) Should the fumes from the pine and eucalyptol be loosed continually, or at certain periods? (A) WELL were it kept almost continually, though it may be given periodically if preferable, closing the room and then loosing the fumes, and then opening the room and letting the sunshine in, see? Or the oxygen may be taken in the manner as has been given, THROUGH that of the inhalation which carries the oxygen into the system through the respiratory system.

Do as we have given, if we would bring the nearer normal conditions for this body. We are through for the present.

Replying to yours of the 13th, we enclose the information which was obtained yesterday afternoon. We are certainly very much in hopes that the suggestions given will enable you, and those assisting you, to understand and administer those things that will continue to bring improvement for Mr. [4590]. I feel that possibly this is explained to you in the way that you will know just how these are to be applied. I certainly trust he continues to show improvement. We will appreciate your letting us hear from you from time to time, and if it is possible for us to be of help we are glad for you to call on us.

R2. 9/18/28 Brother’s letter:

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Sir:

At the request of Mrs. […], Selma, Alabama, in care of King’s Memorial Hospital, I am writing you as an addition to her letter of Saturday last to you in regard to [4590].

When Mrs. […] wrote you Saturday, her husband’s condition was very much improved and she states that she started not to write you at all, and did not ask you for as much information as she would have done, if she had not written until today, as since then Mr. [4590]‘s condition has retrograded considerably, his left eye seems to be swollen and he is much drowsier and sluggish, and does not notice visitors or friends nor shows any interest in matters as he had for several days and she has written me to ask you to send your diagnosis of his condition, prescription and directions to me and I will take them on down to Selma, as soon as they arrive.

I am his brother and am very much interested in his recovery and I would probably get your letter quicker than she would at the hospital, in fact, she prefers that it be sent, addressed to her in my care here at Birmingham, as it seems that some parties there do not approve of her consulting you; I have not the pleasure nor honor of your acquaintance, but if through you or your ministration Mr. [4590] can be benefited or there is an opportunity of improving his condition, no one will be more grateful than myself, nor be as quick to take advantage of it and so acknowledge and give full credit, as I would be glad to do.

I had suggested that an Osteopath’s services be employed particularly in the treatment of his spine and neck and ask that they use an electrical vibrator for his treatments and it was for some time; I had requested that his diet be very closely inspected so that only those foods that would clear his blood and improve his circulation be given him; I am satisfied that Dr. Moss is conscientious and will do everything possible for Mr. [4590]‘s improvement, and as a Doctor is probably one of the best in that country but I feel that there is so much ignorance in the profession and to a certain extent he and all other Doctors are bound by their training and professional ethics in matters that I do not endorse nor approve of, so if you will send your statement prescriptions and directions to Mrs. […], … Bldg., …, Alabama, care of […], I will see that they are delivered at once to her and would appreciate your answers to any of the above questions or suggestions as well as independent suggestions or statements that you may make in reply to any of Mrs. […]‘s questions or which you may believe to be of advantage and benefit to him and I shall see that they are delivered to her and will be carried out strictly for the improvement of [4590].

My dear Mr. […]

Have yours of the 18th, and I wired you immediately concerning the information as was gotten for Mr. [4590]. I wish we had known about this, so that we could have sent it to you direct. I see no reason why, from the information gotten, that Mr. [4590] shouldn’t improve right along, and I believe such will be the case if they will but apply the suggestions given. This has been our experience with others. Wherever the suggestions are applied the results come.

I want to assure you of my sincere desire to be of help if possible. Don’t hesitate to call on me by wire or letter if you think the conditions are such that I can be of help in any way. Appreciating the situation, is just why we are going about to establish an institution here, and we are believing that through its channels we will be better able to serve humanity, and to get possibly some little recognition from those who have charge of individuals that seek aid through these channels.

I gave Dr. Moss your letters and had no trouble getting him to co-operate with us. Thanking you again for your promptness and kindness.

R6. 11/22/28 EC’s letter to [4590]‘s wife:

My dear Mrs. […]

I have yours of the 16th, with enclosure, for which please accept my sincere thanks. I was indeed sorry to know that we were unable to do anything to steer off the hand of death. I’m sorry were not able to undertake it sooner, or to be in a position where we might have had the opportunity to have offered our services sooner. I’m in hopes you will be able to meet the emergencies. I’m sure it’s a hard thing to bear, when we have depended upon one - and when we have these so dependent upon us we need the counsel and advice often; yet the All Wise Providence has seen fit to put YOU in care and in charge. I’m in hopes that you - relying on Him, knowing that He will not fail - with that hope, will be able to meet it from day to day. So well that we don’t have to live but one day at a time!

We will soon have our place open here, and I’m in hopes that at some time you will have the opportunity to visit this part of the country (for it’s quite a well known summer resort), that you may see what we are undertaking.
