This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of July, 1930, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [4631].

Time of Reading 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [4631], at the … Company, … Street, …, Ala., the circumstances and conditions surrounding this body, and you will answer the questions which we will ask you regarding all phases of her life.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [4631], and those conditions and circumstances as surround the body. While there are apparently many crosses to bear, there will be the greater satisfaction in KEEPING in the present surroundings, the present conditions, the present circumstances, for the time, at least - for at least another nine to twelve months. Then many changes may be expected in the surroundings and in the conditions about the body, and those associated with, contacting with, the body. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) Will these changes be for the betterment of the body? (A) That will depend upon the manner in which same are accepted.

4. (Q) Is there any promotion or future to her present position? (A) Not just at present. With the changes of conditions, there will be.

5. (Q) Is she physically fit to meet the responsibilities that are hers? (A) These must be judged according to the conditions as surround. There are many conditions that my be made BETTER in the physical forces, but these are not HARMFUL at the present.

6. (Q) What should be done about the glands of the neck, or for same? [Swollen, sore, stiff, aching - worse in cold weather - doctor says tonsils should come out.] (A) These corrections as my relieve same, by the application of an electrical driven vibrator from the waist upward, given each evening - these would help and assist same.

7. (Q) Which must she put the most into, for her daughter [5566], her music or school? Which is she going to do the most with? (A) The music.

8. (Q) Is her friend in Laurel, Miss., going to always think as much of her as he does now? or is there another one that she knows not of? (A) That will depend upon circumstances and upon conditions as arise in the life of each. As to what man, or woman, will do as respecting the changing of thought, intent, or purpose, even the Giver of all good and perfect gifts knows not; for he is a free-will agent.

9. (Q) What should be her attitude towards him in the present? (A) As has been.

10. (Q) Give the body any advice as to her future outlook and conduct in all phases of her life, that will be helpful to her. (A) Be not too hasty. Be long-suffering. Think not of self. Think of others first. We are through.

R1. 7/28/30 Letter: ”…Was just delighted, and surprised, to hear from you this morning, and am so pleased with the reading. Words can not express my gratitude, and do appreciate your help and kindness lots more than you think I do. You bet I am going to do just what you said, ‘Sit steady’, and am just working, waiting and hoping everything will work out for the best. At any rate, I am waiting and doing my very best. Again, I want to thank you…”

R2. 1/31 Letter indicated that her bachelor brother had finally married and brought his wife there to live, which had made everything much pleasanter for [4631]. It seems that her brother had been quite bossy but that his wife was insisting on [4631] living her own life, etc. This could be the change in circumstance mentioned in paragraph one of the reading for [4631], 4631-1.

R3. 2/17/31 EC’s letter: ”…We were mighty glad to hear from you and to know that things are at least easing just a little bit for you. Often times things come in very unexpected ways and manners.

“Nothing is very definite here with us. There will be a meeting the latter part of the month, and I’ll need the prayers of all my friends at that time. It’s to be on the 26th; that is, if I am able to go to the meeting. It has been reported that the hospital is to close on the 1st. Whether this is to be true or not, I do not know…”

R4. 2/31 Letter: ”…I have been thinking about you all the time. If I am not mistaken, the meeting is to be the 28th, Saturday, and you can know that I have been thinking and praying that everything would work out for the best, and that the wonderful work that was being done would be continued. I just can’t help but believe that everything will come out alright, for that hospital was such a wonderful place to me.

“Now blessing Mrs. Cayce, I do wish after Mr. Cayce gets back that you would come with him and stay here until he has time to forget all about his disappointments for a while, and see if he won’t feel better. We would be delighted to have both of you, and just come on and stay as long as you can. Honest, I feel like a change would help both of you, and you know that I love you, and would be delighted to have you. You know I have had some experience with this disappointment business, and I know exactly what it means. Anybody that hasn’t had something like that to go through, just can’t imagine what it means to see the ones that you have learned to love and respect to turn right around and be the opposite, it really does hurt, and more than we can ever know. But I want both of you to know that I can sympathize with you, for I know how it hurts, and it is so hard on the physical condition, and all of that makes it mighty hard to overcome, but I just know doing the kind of work and good that you all were doing, that everything is going to come out like it should…”

R5. 3/9/31 EC’s letter: ”…I suppose the greater part of the public will look on the fact that the hospital has closed that it’s been a failure on my part. I surely feel entirely different, those that know the circumstances will feel so too. Just what is to be the outcome of the institution, I do not know. That one possibly may not have anything more to do with, or the time might come when it will opened and functioning in the proper way. I hope I will be able to keep on with the work. It is surprising to me now how many friends are apparently rallying to my support in everyway you can imagine. I really must have been of help to some…”

R6. 3/13/31 Letter: ”…Now don’t you get it into your head for one single minute that anybody has the idea that the hospital has failed, or that it had anything to do with you, for it wasn’t that at all, at least that is the way I feel about it. Business conditions all over the country are awful, and it just happened that Virginia Beach had to suffer as well as other parts of the country, it wasn’t you at all. I certainly would like to see things pick up here, for there is plenty of room for improvement. Nearly all of the places of business have cut salaries, and in lots of places the force has also been cut…”

R7. 4/4/31 EC’s letter: ”…Nothing particularly of interest to tell you, except that we had a VERY enthusiastic meeting last Saturday. It’s really a joy and pleasure to know there are so many people, in so many parts of this country, that feel the work manifested through me has meant and does mean so much to them and their loved ones. There were people here who contacted the work years ago, and others who have only known of it a short while - but ALL expressed themselves very much in the same way and manner. This was a meeting rather to determine as to whether it should go on. How and the where fores will be taken up late. If our purposes and aims are right, and if it is God’s work - I am very sure it WILL go ahead.

“Nothing would suit me better personally than to be able to visit with you all a while, and I know it would suit Gertrude - but too much work to be done, too little money in sight to do it with. Some of these days, though, we will make that trip…”
