This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the David E. Kahn Home, 20 Woods Lane, Scarsdale, N.Y., this 9th day of November, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [464], Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:45 to 12:00 Noon Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [464]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, while there are definite conditions that need changing for a better mental and physical reaction, there are improvements in the physical forces of the body.
-
We would not change in the present from that line of thought or study which the body is attempting to make applicable in the experience at this time.
-
Take those precautions as respecting the attitudes. For know, as has been so oft given, God is not mocked - and what ye sow, so must ye reap. If ye hold resentments, if ye make for animosities and jealousies, ye create only that which must find expression in same in thine own individual experience.
-
Keep occasionally those uses of the Appliance for the equalizing and making for the reionizing of the system, as we have indicated.
-
And in thy material surroundings, we will find that circumstances are such that it would be well for the considering of moving - or engaging in the building of a home, TOWARDS the Cedar Point sector. And the small fruits, the garden, the poultry surroundings, would make for that as would be more in keeping with the giving of opportunity for the outlet of expressions physically as well as mentally.
-
And if these are kept in the ways and manners of constructive influence, they become mental and soul development.
-
For as ye do it ever unto the least of these, thy brethren, ye do it unto thy Maker.
-
Keep that as thy watchword.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Can such a change be made satisfactory? (A) If all in the household are considered.
-
(Q) Any other advice? (A) Keep those attitudes of constructiveness ever. Let nothing separate thee from the love of the Father in thee.
-
We are through with this Reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/15/37 “I was sorry to bother you for a rdg. while you were away from home. I did not know in time that you were going. I mailed mine in the morning and rec’d yours at noon - it was too late to recall it. There are some things that I want to know about, in connection with the rdg. and other things, but I won’t bother about it now. My whole world is upside down, and I am not my normal self. I should have taken my medicine and said nothing about it, no matter how it hurt. I should have known better.”
R2. 12/24/37 “These are hectic days in our household. I was telling [Daughter] that if I had better health things would be vastly different. A person can’t do much with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana skin.
“I rec’d the rdg. o.k. Wasn’t expecting anything on the physical side. I was a little disappointed about the country proposition. Would rather have had more detail about that…the Cedar Grove section is a long way from…a nice part of the country but too far out for convenience. The rest of the folks would want to come often and it would be too far and too expensive. So, what now? This changeable weather fills me full of aches and pains. No snow for Xmas. We are all disappointed. Thanks for the lovely card. Some folks do know what kind of a card to send…the real meaning of Xmas.
“[Husband] is still holding his own in injured silence. I am the one to be injured. He can die in silence for all I care. Women always pay the price, right or wrong, and I am paying it and I always have. He can be the playboy but I will get the blame - a big laugh for me… I hardly get an hour a day to call my own until the children are in bed [2 daughters, 1 son-in-law, 2 grandchildren], then I read until 12-1 o’clock. I have 2 new books, MIND POWER and EDUCATING THE WILL. I will die when my time comes anyway, mind power or will, education, what ho!”
R3. 12/29/37 EC’s letter: “Good of you to take the time to write when I know you are torn between opinions and general household activities, but thank you very much. I have been all under the weather the last week myself. Guess the moon has been in green cheese for me or something worse. Couldn’t half eat and that is something I so like to do, especially at this season when someone has been kind enough to send us in a turkey; but I feel better today - guess it was because I had to start trying to do something for someone else and didn’t have time to think of my own worries.
“No sir, I do know what you mean when you say ‘one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel,’ but when one turns loose and tries to help the other fellow, well we forget the grave is open or the peel slick.
“Sorry the rdg. didn’t make things definite enough, or answer to something formed in your own consciousness. Is there really a Cedar Point section and where is it?
“No snow here either, but I don’t love snow myself - guess am getting in practice for the warm place. That is my kind of weather, warm, but has been cool here, around 40 or thereabout. Had only our family here for Christmas, my wife and two boys, the first time was like that since we were married - well, never happened to this family before. The Sec’ty Gladys Davis] who lives with us went home and it was the first time she had been home for Christmas in 15 yrs., so guess a new era is coming up. A couple from here, Miss Gladys’ brother and wife with their baby boy [Boyd, Burlynn and Thomas Jefferson Davis] are spending the holidays in Cleveland. We all think as much of the baby as if he were our own, almost, and really missed him, but we cannot run other people’s lives for them.
“Silence may be golden at times, but when one affects an injured air with it, I wonder. All send regards. May this be a Happy, Prosperous New Year for you.” Sincerely, Edgar Cayce

B2. 10/31/37 “My heart acted up for a few days [after flare-up with husband] but I got over that quite a bit and feel some better… I can’t let [Daughter] down, she is not well enough [since the 2nd baby came] so I keep going anyway. I feel like a flat tire. I think a change would help me a lot… Are we [Husband and me] too old to think about having a little place to work around in? Could such a change be made satisfactory? Which direction would be the best way to go? where the soil would be good and not too heavy to work? What would be the best thing to do on such a place? It must pay its way. If it is too late, just say so.”
