This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of November, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [464].
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 1:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for the further improvement of same.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. This we have had before, you see.
-
Now, we find there are improvements in the physical conditions of the body, and the body needs only to be careful of those conditions that would bring about those returning conditions that would cause the toxins to produce, as it were, re-infection to the muscular tissue in the locomotaries and in the tissue of muscular forces in the body. The correct incentives for the functioning are set up - not wholly and complete, but the manipulations given occasionally would assist this in being brought near to normal.
-
High enemas will assist the body in preventing toxins forming in the colon. These we would use occasionally, using the antiseptic in the water, and this amount: To a gallon and a half of water, add tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline. Use this tepid, and we will find this will bring better conditions for the body.
-
Keep careful of the diet as has been outlined. As much exercise as is feasible for the body in the open air. This will ever be beneficial, see?
-
Follow in these lines, and we will bring the better conditions for this body, Mrs. [464].
-
We are through with this reading.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/22/26 “I will go on with the tr. and if all there is to it is to keep it up, I can do that easy enough. I do want to get well, for there are so many interesting things to do. I just love to work. For the last 14 yrs. I haven’t known if I have been on my head or my heels most of the time, not one well day have I known. My head has been like an inflated balloon most of the time, and my legs teeter like a drunken person. Folks think I am queer. So do I. If I should recover from this dreadful condition I am afraid I am going to become very much alarmed. I’ll begin to worry about myself and think that there is something really serious the matter with me. Such is habit. Or else become lonely and melancholy for my dear departed miseries. Could such a thing be? like a dog without fleas.
“Many thanks to you all for your kindness to me. I will follow instructions as closely as possible and you know to cure me will be a real victory, one you can depend on for future use. I am supersensitive and we have all of the emotions of that type to contend with as well as the physical.”
R2. 12/6/26 EC ans’d her request for a sympathetic correspondent who had experienced the benefit of the rdgs., by referring her to Mrs. [2457].
R3. 12/30/26 “I am sick in bed and the doctor who is taking care of me gave me an idea, so I am going to act on it. I asked him what Chloride of Gold is and he said it purifies the blood ‘Have you been taking it? Are you sure it is Chloride of Gold you got?’ [It turns black.] So I am going to mail my bottle to you and have your doctor, who is with you in your work, tell me if I have been on a wild goose chase all this time or not… I have had a siege of it this week - temperature 105. My liver throwing bile into my stomach, seemingly, until my mouth tastes like bitter aloes, and I cannot take any food since Mon.”
R4. 1/10/27 “You should see my pretty yellow face - ha! ha! ha! In your last rdg. you said that my body was not throwing off the poison as it should. Don’t worry. The pills the doctor has given me are going after my liver with pitchforks and shovels. I have no strength but I am living in hopes that will get around again sometime.”
R5. 1/12/27 EC’s letter: “I suppose this concoction has been CALLED Chloride of Gold. I will get this fixed in Norfolk and sent to you. Then I know it will be right.”
R6. 1/17/26 “Dear Mr. Cayce, I received your letter and I am sorry to hear that you have been sick & glad to know that you are better again. I was in bed 8 days. I had to get up early every day to dress a boil Mr. [husband] had in the back of his neck and as soon as they see me on my feet they expect me to go to work. So I am back on the job again. Well enough or not - it makes no difference, but my face is clearing out & I look like a ghost. I cannot understand so much suffering especially among Christian people who ought to get the good things of life instead of that they get the worst of it. I want you to send me a bill for the Gold and for your expenses in connection with it. I had a feeling that all was not as it should be. 6 months wasted with a round up of the jaundice. I had a lovely letter from Mrs. [2457]. I believe you folks had something to do with it. That proves a friendly spirit - which goes a long way with me. For I find, I am sorry to say, would be friends quite indifferent which is a real sorrow to me. However be that as it may. Mrs. [2457] wrote a letter that pleased me very much & I want to tell you that she said if she did not go to Florida as she wants to go she has invited me to go to … [Ala.] for a month to see what she could do for me, under your instructions of course. I was perfectly amazed. When you stop to think what all that would mean to her in trouble and possibly inconvenience for a perfect stranger is decidedly out of the ordinary and fairly took my breath away. For my own friends right in Cleveland have not so much as darkened my door except the Minister’s wife next door who comes in almost every day and I love her. People are too busy with their own affairs to bother and I cannot blame them. They have troubles of their own I dare say. Well Mrs. [2457] wanted to see my readings so I sent them to her. I was too sensitive. Can you imagine how supersensitive people suffer trying to get through this world. There is a continual clash. In later years I have learned not to be so foolish but I don’t always succeed. It is often more sensitiveness than nervousness. Both effect the physical in the same way. Mrs. […] has been very fine just as you said. Since the rising of the sun I have been thrice blessed. The sun must be my benefactor.” Yours sincerely, [464]
R7. 1/26/27 “I will be ready for the Gold when you are. This last jolt has set me right back to the beginning again, just as your first rdg. said. Rotten luck. Better next time.”
R8. 2/2/27 “The Gold is not here yet… If you should live to be 150 yrs. old you will never forget me and all the trouble I cause you. Some folks are like that.”
R9. 2/16/27 “I am getting along very nicely now. I have taken just twelve doses of the Gold and I can see a big difference, and I do hope it continues.”
R10. 3/1/27 “I am getting along nicely now, but I haven’t been out walking around any so far, the weather has been bad…
“If I can get the wherewithal to go to …[Ala.] and it will be convenient to Mrs. [2457] to have me, I may go there yet. I am no different from any other neurotic, it takes me forever to make up my mind to do anything. The getting ready is worse than the trip.
“What do you know about that Southern School of Neuropathy they have in Montgomery? Do patients go there for tr.? I would like to know more about it, and if there is anything there I need, or if Mrs. [2457] can supply the need, as she wrote that she gave treatments to your patients.”
R11. 3/11/27 “I would like you to arrange for a ck. rdg. I think by the time you are ready to give it, it will be about time for me to have it. I did not go to Mrs. [2457] - I was not well enough, for one thing, and besides it would cost me $250 at least for 5 wks., and Mr. [husband] couldn’t spare the money. The change would have done me good, but I will be out a lot this summer anyway.”
R12. 3/17/27 EC made an appt. for her, saying: “I know the school at Montgomery very well, as I am very well acquainted with Dr. Elise Stone, the lady in charge. But I’m sure you would get everything from Mrs. [2457] that would be necessary, for she is a graduate of that school, and I am in hopes that you will yet decide to make your arrangements to go there, for I am sure it would be worth your while.”
R13. 3/22/27 “There are improvements in my condition. I am still lightheaded and of course that causes me a lot of trouble.”
R14. 4/2/27 “I am lying on the couch writing this, for I am about all in. Yes, I will have some questions to ask you and maybe what I can’t think of Mrs. [2457] will, for I leave here tomorrow afternoon to go to her place, if I am able to navigate at all. I dread the journey, for I am so weak in the legs, but I have traveled under more difficult conditions than this trip will be, with nothing in view there.
“The gold had the very opposite effect on me with the violet ray. It weakens me. I can take the gold alone, or the violet ray alone, but the two together don’t work. So there is something wrong.
“Mr. [husband] gives me the tr. He applies the violet ray zigzag up and down my back…
“I have come to the conclusion that I need a regular person to take care of me, so I prayed that the money would come to me from some place, somehow, so I could go away to Mrs. [2457]. While sitting alone, lonely and heartsick last Wed., the mail arrived with a letter with a ck. more than covering the necessary amt., which wasn’t supposed to come until next Aug. When the folks all came in to dinner last night I said ‘I am going South.’ They all got excited and asked no end of questions and started right in getting me ready - they just can’t do enough for me. I am in a very negative state of mind. The weather has been so gloomy…if it depresses well people, what an effect it has on sick people. My washwoman disappointed me this wk. so I had that big job to do myself. It didn’t agree with me. I have never been troubled with my back but the last 2 wks. it feels as though it had been caved in…My antipathy to the violet ray may have something to do with not getting the desired effects. I am beginning to think I am a Jonah. Well, I shall do my best. You will hear from us.”
R15. 4/11/27 “I am with Mrs. [2457]. As you know, we have prepared a list of questions to be ans’d at the rdg. I do get so discouraged. I do not seem to improve one bit, no matter what we do. I had a very strenuous trip down here and was on the ragged edge for days. My husband wrote and said he hoped I would be well enough to walk home. He likes to tease.
“No doubt Mrs. [2457] told you that Dr. Elise Stone gave me the once over. According to her the treatments will be endless.”
R16. 4/18/27 “We are eagerly waiting your verdict on my case. Mrs. [2457] has treated me for 2 wks. I told her I was a tough old case alright, but she seems to feel that I will come around alright. I think that Dr. Elise Stone’s diagnosis was incorrect, for I have felt much better and walked much better than I do just now. That is immaterial. What I want is the trouble removed.”
