This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of February, 1934, in accordance with request made by her husband, Mr. [461], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Maryland. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes. We have the body here. This we have had before.

2. As we find, those disorders and tendencies with the organs of the pelvis to function abnormally are not reacting as they should from the inability of the activities that have been taken to make the proper ADJUSTMENTS of the organs to their proper positions.

3. While those properties that were given in the body are to produce in the glands certain activities, from the character of the gland secretions in the assimilations; but owing to the POSITION of these organs they make for rather more painful periods and longer lasting than they have been without the use of these.

4. So, if there would be given those manipulations osteopathically, and those adjustments locally for the organs of the pelvis to function the more normal, these we find would bring the more normal condition to this body.

5. These we would do.

6. The manipulations, naturally, will be the relaxing of the body, but local applications for the adjustment of the organs and for those portions where there has been irritation produced by the congestions and the counteraction of the irritations in the pelvic organs themselves - these should be adjusted properly.

7. Do that. Ready for questions.

R1. 2/26/34 EC’s letter: “I have yours of the 21st, and as you already know from the report, we took the information for your wife at the time that I gave you last Friday. I am just hoping that she finds in this that that is necessary for getting better results as respecting her physical condition.

“You were correct as to the cost for the check readings

• $10.00, but inasmuch as I will possibly be away for a few weeks, and we had the appointment and you verified that she would be at home, we took same. Of course, there could not be a great deal of difference, inasmuch as she had not, according to the information, followed all of the suggestions as were given, and from the information it is very probably that some of that that she has done, in doing its work, has made for aggravation rather than an allaying of the troubles, inasmuch as the rest of it, or the adjustments, were not carried out, thus ennabling the system to adjust itself properly.

“I don’t know just when it will be possible for me to make the arrangements to be in Washington, but I hope to do so some time this spring; as soon as I return to the office. I will write you again and try and make the appointments for the other readings you mentioned.

“Hoping that Mrs. [467] will be able to follow the suggestions and get the desired results, I am, with all good wishes,”

R2. 3/2/34 Husband, Mr. [461]‘s letter: “It seems that you did not understand my letter of the 21st, in which I stated that if the check reading was ten dollars, ($10.00) I would not want it at this time, however that is really just what I did write. I have the check reading here, am sorry to say that it offers no practical help whatsoever. Mrs. [467] has been following the instructions given in the first reading, very faithfully and she has had the adjustments to the spine and organs and other treatment every day with few exceptions. She was treated by Dr. F. A. Goerger, 608 Peoples Life Ins. Bldg.

“Really in these readings for Mrs. [467] you did not seem to establish the right contact somewhere along the line.

“Mr. Cayce, I do not feel that I owe you ten dollars, in view of the fact that I specifically wrote you that I would not want the reading if it cost ten dollars, and also because the first reading has not been of any benefit and the check reading is not of any help either, nor is there even any new suggestion of any kind in it.

“I trust that you shall understand these facts clearly and in fairness to all concerned, shall be glad to hear from you about the matter from your point of view if I have missed it.”

R3. 3/3/34 Mildred Davis’ letter:

“Your letter of March 2, addressed to Mr. Edgar Cayce, has been received. Mr. Cayce has found it necessary to take a short rest due to the strain under which he has labored during the past few months; therefore, I shall take the liberty of answering your letter to the best of my ability. I have gone over all the correspondence and readings carefully, so perhaps I can be of some assistance.

“I am sorry there seems to be some misunderstanding regarding the check reading on your wife. Mr. Cayce was going away and did not want her to have to wait so long for it. In his haste, he no doubt overlooked your meaning. But I am sure it will be perfectly alright if you consider that you do not owe for this check reading. We are not in this work, Mr. [461], to see how much money we can get out of it, but to try and help as much as possible. If Mrs. [467] has not received the results promised, there must be something wrong somewhere; either the treatments have not been given properly or a sufficient length of time has not elapsed to give them a chance to take effect. I notice you stated that you were not able to start on the osteopathic treatments immediately following the first reading, but that evidently the other things prescribed were followed without them and the packs suggested. These treatments have to go hand in hand, Mr. [461]; just part of them will not avail. They have to be given as nearly as possible as outlined in the reading. Sometimes, it is difficult to do this, but it must be done to get the very best results.

“I have been connected with this work for four and a half years, and I have seen so many wonderful results from the application of the suggestions given in the readings that I cannot help but believe you will receive them also, if you will be patient and persistent. Please read and study her readings carefully, and I am sure it will be revealed to you just why the results have not been received that you expected and the information indicated.

“Mr. Cayce was just not able to make the stop in Washington this last trip, but I do hope it will be possible for him to make a special trip to your city this spring.

“I would advise, Mr. [461], that you adhere to these treatments suggested for Mrs. [467] as closely as possible and to not give up hope. Then let us know from time to time how she progresses, for we are deeply interested.

“So glad to know you received results with regard to your own reading, and hope it won’t be long before you can get your Life Reading and one on your father.

“With very best wishes for the health and happiness of you and yours, and hoping this somewhat clears the difficulty with regard to the check reading, I am”

R4. 4/7/34 EC’s letter:

My dear Mr. [461]:-

“Yours of March 2nd came during my absence. Miss Davis has already written to you about my being away.

“I am sure you misunderstood my intent and purpose. As I was going away to be be gone for some time, I felt that if it were possible to give anything for Mrs. [467] that would be of help I wanted to do it. The questions of your paying for it did not enter my mind; for my desire to be of help to people is not measured by dollars and cents.

“If the information given was not of help, then I would not blame you for never wanting another reading. It seemed from the check-up that she had not received all the treatments just as outlined in the first reading. Whether she has been able to receive any benefits from any it or not, of course I do not know. We feel, from experience, that it depends upon just how well the information was followed - either by her or by the one making the applications. If Mrs. [467]‘s case is the exception, out of the several thousand reports we have in our files, we would like to know it; I assure you of that. For, as our records will bear me out, wherever the suggestions have been followed AS given, the results have come as promised.

“Mr. [461], our whole purpose and desire is to help as many people as possible. As for the money part of it, for goodness’ sake don’t ever let that stand in the way! For, we do give a great many more readings for individuals who never pay for them, than for those who do. Certainly we do not want any one to pay for something that he does not feel he has gotten! This is our position: IF the information has not been of help to you, we want to know the reason why - and not because we want to give you another reading, but for the satisfaction of ourselves and for the real benefit we believe other individuals have gotten through the years, judging from their reports from day to day. And we cannot believe that Mrs. [467] is any exception.

“If we can be of a service, know that is our desire.

“I certainly hope you understand my attitude in the matter, and I would indeed be very pleased to hear from you.”

R5. 4/18/34 EC’s letter to Mr. [436] who referred Mr. [461] for rdgs. in the first place: “Mr. [461] got somewhat upset about the last rdg. for his wife. It was the price, I think, rather than the information, and I’m expecting to hear from him very soon.”
