This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of July, 1926, in accordance with request made by her mother, Mrs. […], via Rev. and Mrs. D. P. Taylor.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Now, we find that which produces the abnormal conditions in this body has to do with specific conditions that have existed in the physical body since the birth, for at that time there was an injury to the 1st cervical that, as the body has developed, the impaired condition, by the improper distribution, especially to that of the pituitary gland, has prevented the full-normal development in every manner, so that the equilibrium in the action of the nerve system in the system has been impaired, and this causes these conditions in the body that occur when the body is unable to keep its equilibrium.

3. Now, these are the conditions as we find them in this body.

4. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this shows the heaviness for one of its age and development, produced, principally, by the impaired condition that exists in the plexus of the pneumogastric by this pressure in the 1st cervical.

5. The nerve system shows the strain as is brought to all centers by this inability of the system to keep its equilibrium, see? That is, when this condition of blood supply to the brain becomes overflowing, or over pressure, all the centers in nerve system relax, or contract, according to their own inflection from conditions under which that plexus is operating at the time such occurrence takes place. Hence, in this condition there are taut conditions along the spine, from the base of the brain to the brachial plexus. There are relaxed conditions in many frontal muscles, from the waist line down, see? Taut conditions in arms, drawing in all of those of the sensory system; affected at times, apparently, by eating; at others by those of the digestive system, or of the kidneys. ALL of these show how that this central nerve, from the pineal gland, runs through with the cord, as it were, in the spinal system, running outside, though, the spinal cord itself, though connected with same at the base of the brain and to the brain itself.

6. Without the correction, then, of this condition as has existed there from the time of the birth of the child (for, as we see, it was presented wrong when it was born), we will find that, were those properties given that submerge the condition, we create that which will take away from the mental development of same; though we find in a mental fashion the developments as normal, or super-normal, in some of the same age and same development.

7. Then, to bring about the correction of this condition will take persistence and consistent treatment for the individual at this time.

8. Take, as medicinal properties, that of the tea of Maypops, or Mayapple, see?

9. That treatment for the correction (see, this of the Maypop is for the nerve system and for the blood supply, as is hindered by the improper incentives through the connection between the glands at the base of the brain and the hypogastric nerve center, which governs the digestion and the assimilation in portions of the system), correct through the osteopathic adjustments, which is necessary, with making such corrections, that these be kept up (the adjustments) throughout the system for at least three cycles of the development, which would mean thirty-six (36) to forty-eight (48) days, see?

11. (Q) In what proportion should this tea be made, and what quantity given? (A) This is already prepared, we see, by these properties, and this may be given half a teaspoonful - or, as the directions are as seen here, a few drops at the time, increasing to the half teaspoonful as the condition arises, see? These are made in Atlanta, Georgia.

12. (Q) Where may this be obtained in Atlanta, Georgia? (A) From the people that make it.

As to who should treat this body, we would give such as that of Woodall.

R1. 7/26/26 EC’s letter to Mother: “I enclose you, herewith, the reading as was gotten this afternoon. I am sure you will be able to check up on this and know how well if fits your little girl’s condition, and I feel as sure that if you will have the suggestions as are made carried out fully you will find that she will be rid of this trouble and condition.

“The one who is suggested here as treating the body, Mrs. […] I know very well - Dr. Percy Woodall of Birmingham, and I’m in hopes that you will arrange to have him give the little girl treatments. I would give him the reading, and (after he examines the child) let him tell you just what he thinks of it.

“As for the medicinal properties, you will find I think that these are prepared by John B. Daniels, Atlanta, Ga., or you may be able to obtain same through your own drugstore, or I am sure you can get if from the 5 Points Drug Store in Birmingham.

“We ask, please, that you will let us hear from you from time to time, for I assure you its our desire to see that the little girl is benefited, if it is possible.

R2. 7/30/26 Letter from mother and father to EC: “Your Reading of July 26th received and contents carefully noted. We do not think that we could have gone into minute details more thoroughly ourselves concerning the case. She has been having convulsions for almost three years apparently caused from something she had eaten and sometimes from acids in the kidneys. She cannot digest anything she eats, and we have great faith in the Reading and is arranging to take her to Dr. Woodall of B’ham at the earliest possible date (we hope Sunday 1st).

“We herewith enclose check for ($10.00) ten dollars, regretting very much that we could not make a more liberal contribution at this time. We will send some more later hoping this will be satisfactory with you as our finances are limited and we are contemplating making the trip to Birmingham Sun. Will let you hear from her again immediately after Dr. Woodall gives her an examination. With best wishes to you and Mrs. Cayce…”

R4. 8/10/26 EC’s letter to Mother & father of [4678]: “Yours of the 30th received, and I am glad to know that you were pleased with the report as was gotten in reading, and I am certainly in hopes that you are finding that the little girl is responding to the treatments from Dr. Woodall. I know that you are finding him to be one of the nicest and best men that you ever had any dealings with. After she has taken a course of treatment for a time, I believe it would be well for us to have a check reading to see the progress that is being made, and it might be very well to have Dr. Woodall to suggest the questions that you would have asked at the time. Tell him that a friend of his, Dr. T. B. House, whom he perhaps remembers, is here with me at the present time, and I am sure he would be glad to ask any questions in the professional way and manner that he might desire to have asked when this check reading is made. I am only hoping that you will gain the help and assistance as many others have gained, and are reporting to us from all over the country.

R5. 9/2/26 Mother’s letter to EC: “Wish for you to give my little girl another Reading to see what will be our next steps to make with her. Dr. Woodall remarked “you sure diagnosed her case right” and he wants to carry out your suggestions concerning the medicinal properties. We have never been able to get the tea of Maypops, but found the tincture of Maypops with directions on bottle. Dr. Woodall suggested that you tell us if she must take the tincture or tea, and if tea please give the formula and what about the Mayapple as it is for liver. She has a dead liver it seems. Please tell us concerning both. We have been giving the tea of Mayapple but as she has spasms it seems like it is absolutely necessary to take the Maypops too!

“Dr. Woodall said to please give an outline of diets. We have to be so careful as to what to give her to eat.

“She seems to be improving in nervousness. Dr. Woodall gave her a six weeks treatments. Our last treatment will come Sept 10 and then we will be at home on … highway 2 1/2 miles west of …

R6. 9/2/26 Inquiry form sent to the mother of [4678] from the Association of National Investigators:

Kindly advise us in the space below if you have followed all, or any part, of the suggestions given in your reading of July 26, 1926, and give us in detail the exact results you have obtained.

“We have followed all suggestions given by Mr. Cayce except the Medicinal properties and could not get the tea of Maypops but found tincture of Maypops. Mr. Cayce is going to tell us in next reading the formula for tea.

“The little girl has been benefited greatly in her kidney trouble. She still has spasms but in a lighter form. Feel sure if we could have gotten the tea of Maypops as he suggested she would have shown a greater improvement. We have great faith in Mr. Cayce, and expect to follow every suggestion he makes. Will let you hear from us again later.

“Dr. Woodall has been giving her adjustments and said, Mr. Cayce certainly made the right diagnosis in her case, and he wants Mr. Cayce’s suggestions carried out in every particular.”

R7. 9/11/26 Mother’s letter to EC: “We have completed the six week course with Dr. Woodall and am now at home. Dr. Woodall requested us to have another reading of [4678]. We think she is very much improved, although she still has some real hard attacks yet. She had a real hard one today.

“In regards to the Tea of Maypops which you prescribed, please advise me in what proportion it should be made and directions for giving. We ordered some from Daniels and he sent Tea of Mayapple instead of Tea of Maypops, and we have not begun giving it because we wanted to know for sure which one you wanted her to have as Dr. Woodall said they were entirely different medicines. We found the Tincture of Maypops at the Five Points Drugstore in Birmingham but not Tea of Maypops.

“Dr. Woodall suggested that you give us an outline of diets for her in your next Reading. (Enclosed find check $10.00.)

“Hoping to hear from you at your earliest convenience. Remember me kindly to Mrs. Cayce.

“P.S. Dr. Woodall said [4678] was not exactly like he wanted to see her yet but the vertebrae had loosened up considerably.”
