-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: Now, we find that those conditions as need the correcting in this physical body have to do with those conditions in which resistance may be created in the system to prevent the changing of those properties in the organism that might give such distress to some of the functioning organs changing their functioning to that of becoming so engorged as to bring that in the system of creating an element destructive to life, as is seen in those of the rebuilding from the structural portions of body (marrow in bone) and of the organs wherein blood is changed into that of being abilitated, or habilitated for the system. The functioning then of the glands in the lacteal ducts, and in the pancreas. The distresses as are produced in the system from these disturbances disturb the eliminations, and the inflammation as is created is the system attempting to adjust itself against these conditions in the body. The other conditions are as minor compared to this that should be met, though, as we see, this has been in the past of a slow nature, for the system has warred against the condition. Produced in times back by taking properties in the system to overcome conditions that attacked the metabolism in such a way and manner as to overbalance the system in that of the replenishing forces from the assimilating system.
-
To meet the needs of these conditions at the present time, we would massage the cerebro-spinal system with equal parts of Olive Oil and Tincture of Myrrh, heating the oil, then adding the myrrh to same. This should be applied at lease twice each day for the first ten days.
-
At least twice each week there should be applied those vibrations from the Alpine or Rino Ray, to clarify the blood.
-
Keeping the intestinal tract open by the use of enemas, and the building in the system through diet should be that of those properties as will give the most building in the system with the least amount of exertion, as it were, by the digestive system. Using, then, as much of beef juice as the body will assimilate. As much olive oil taken internally as body will assimilate, without becoming rancid in system. This will have to be tested from time to time. Give in small doses but give often, see? and the stimulation to the circulatory system can be kept best by manipulation and rubbing, rather than by other stimulants, under the existent condition.
-
When these conditions have been followed out for at least twenty (20) days, then we would give that as necessary to meet the needs of this body at that time. Do this as soon as possible, see?
-
(Q) What were the properties in the system that produced this condition? (A) Those in the form of metal in the emits as were taken in the system, see? As calomel, blue mass. Too strong purgatives used, see? these other conditions as we find existing in various portions of the system are really outcomes of these conditions, and the various changes as are necessary will come about by correcting these conditions as have been given in the applying of that upon which the body may build and resist, see? Do that, was we have given, for these conditions at present.
-
We are through.

R1. 11/22/26 EC’s letter to [4686]‘s friend:
Mr. Joseph Robbins, 2515 Loyola Southway, Baltimore, Md.
My dear Mr. Robbins:-
As you will see, the reading was taken for Mrs. [4686] yesterday morning. My own condition was such that it was impractical to get it on Saturday. I certainly am in hopes that the suggestions as given will prove helpful and beneficial. I am sure that you and Mrs. [4686]‘s relatives and friends realize that the reading itself will not be helpful unless the suggestions as are given in it are followed out very closely - for in doing that as is suggested the relief comes.
Now as regards the remuneration, Mr. Robbins, you know I do not want to be little, or do or say anything that would seem unbecoming in a man who is really trying to serve his fellow man - but I’m sure you realize also that those whom I try to serve should make it possible for me to try to serve others, by contributing sufficient to take care of the needs of the physical body, and I am in hopes that you will see that this, as well as the suggestions as are given for Mrs. [4686] is carried out.
You will notice also that after she has been taking these suggestions for so many days, there should be other suggestions given to meet the needs of the condition at that time. This we shall be very glad to take care of, if they so desire, and we would like very much for them to make us a list of questions at that time concerning her condition, that we may make it just as clear and plain as is possible.
Hoping to have been of service, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
[GD’s note: There is no record in the A.R.E. files of any further communication from Mr. Joseph Robbins, the friend, or from any member of [4686]‘s family.]
R2. Jt’s note: See 288-21 R.2 for Blue Mass formula.

Dear Sir
Shortly before I left Va. Beach I had the concessions at the New Ocean Casino, a Gentlemen by the name Mr. MOHR told me very much about you. However, unfortunately I was unable to see you. My object of seeing was to ask advice about business and I still have that desire, and will take it up with you in the near future, although, at the present time I have a more serious mission to perform than myself, as I am thank God in good health even if I have no special means of a livelihood at present. I have here in Baltimore a friend that his wife is dangerously ill and I don’t know how to convey to you the facts about this party, should I tell you all details or not tell you anything until I hear from you, as I don’t want to interfere with your mode of work, this party’s name is [4686] by her married name, her maiden name is [4686]; she lives at …, this City. Now my Dear Mr. Cayce if you want me to give you all details about this party, please advise me by return mail. Mrs. Mahone with whom I lived at the Beach at the Shirly Cottage whom I advised to see you informed me that you are charging $10.00 for a reading, and as soon as you will arrange for this case I’ll see that you get the fee.
With best wishes I am yours truly, Joseph Robbins

Mr. Joseph Robbins, 3508 Cottage Ave., Baltimore, Md.
My dear Mr. Robbins:-
I have yours of the 27th, and in reply to same will say I would like very much to be of help and assistance to your friend’s wife, if it is possible. In obtaining a physical reading, however, it is necessary that the individual, or one responsible for the moral and spiritual welfare of the individual, make the direct request for the reading, intimating that they will follow out the suggestions given, should they coincide with the conditions of the body as are found, and of course if they are reasonable with circumstances, etc. I am sorry that I didn’t have the opportunity to see and talk with you while you were here. I am sure, however, that Mr. Mohr gave you a general idea of the information that might be obtained in these readings. He, personally, has benefitted from same - possibly as much as any individual I know of, and certainly is able to speak from personal experience with himself and several members of his immediate family, as well as his friends and associates. However, personally, I’m afraid that many people get an exaggerated idea of the work from individuals who are so enthusiastic about same. I believe though you will get a very clear idea of what has been my experience with the work, from the pamphlet that I am sending you. Then you can talk it over with your friend, and if he desires to have us make the reading, and the time as appointed for it is not too far off and will give an opportunity to be of help, why I assure you we shall be glad to do whatever we can, and I certainly hope that we may be of service - for, I assure you, it is our desire to use whatever gift God may have endowed me with for the benefit of suffering humanity.
Now, as to the remuneration, I don’t know how anyone ever got the idea that I had a set charge. I don’t know who could have told you any such thing, for this is left with the individual, to contribute according to their means and abilities. To be sure, I depend upon this for my livelihood. Naturally, there is a great deal of expense incurred in the office, competent secretary, stenographer, etc., and I am only able to give two of these readings in one day - yet we believe in the honesty of humanity. Often we are disappointed. A great many people also may be disappointed in what they get. This we believe, however, is rare, if it is approached with the correct purpose and intent. In this case, you may have your friend tell me just as much or little of the condition as he desires, for I am sure if he wishes the reading at all he desires the assistance for his wife at the present time. Then he may begin to study the why’s and wherefore’s of same after she is better. Of course, it will be necessary that you have the individual, or her husband, or one very close to her, fill out the card if the reading is made. I sincerely hope that I may be of service, and I hope that you will let me hear from you also. The Life Reading, as I understand, would be about what you would want for yourself.
The appointment will be for the morning of the 21st of October. This is as early as we an possible get to it.
Hoping to be of service, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
B3. GD’s note: Card was returned signed by husband dated 10/5/26. Due to death of EC’s mother reading was delayed and another appointment was made for Nov. 20th.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Va. Beach Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce
Your favor of Nov 9th to hand. However, I have been out of town and upon my arrival got in touch with the people tonight and being the husband of the sick wife has not been home the sister of the sick woman filled out the request card for the reading.
In regards to the contribution please Mr. Cayce go ahead with the reading and I will see personally that you will be fairly remunerated in this case. You are a big man in my estimation therefore would not think that you would stop helping the helpless where they need your help.
With best wishes I am yours truly J. Robbins
