Montgomery Time of Reading Tuberculosis 10:50 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Sanatorium, near Montgomery, Ala. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [471].
-
Now, as we find, the conditions are very serious; and the activities of the disturbances are as a consuming fire throughout the whole of the lymph and emunctory circulation, and the hemorrhages from the body itself (not lungs or throat, but from body itself) are such as to make for the feelings of the inefficiency of influences external for any improvement.
-
Yet, were there changes made in the surroundings (for suggestions through these channels would not be applied in the present environs), as we find, there may be brought for the body that which will not only stop the inroads but may bring even yet sustaining and recuperating forces, regenerative forces, in the better physical forces of the body.
-
With such changes, we would give these suggestions. With the same environs, we would leave for those applications that are being made.
-
Changes, then, would be as this:
-
Begin immediately with keeping in the room, or in the body-surroundings, that which may be breathed into the whole of the body; not only in the air breathed, but as the respirations of the body take up the influences about the body there should be the activative forces that would be created by this character of environ about the body:
-
Into an ordinary croup or steam cup (prepared for inhalations in bronchi and the larynx disorders), put the following ingredients:
Oil of Eucalyptus…40 minims, Tincture of Benzoin…40 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp…5 minims, Benzosol in solution…20 minims, (or Rectified Creosote…5 minims) and a pellet or ball of Balsam of Tolu about the size of a large English pea, or about 6 millimetres in diameter.
After this has boiled out, by the activity of the fire under same, in about fifteen to twenty minutes, let this be replaced. Keep this about the body, see?
-
We would also begin immediately and give one-eighth of a grain of Animated Ash twice each day, or the usual quarter grain capsule divided in half; but do not take the Ash IN the capsule. Empty and separate, pouring the ash on the tongue and washing down with a small quantity of water - preferably tepid water, not too cold.
-
From five to ten minutes after the Ash is taken, apply the violet ray for one to one and a half minutes over the upper dorsal and cervical area.
-
For the sustaining in the diet (if the changes are made) use beef juice; not soups but beef JUICE, and give very small quantities of same every fifteen to twenty minutes - a half to a quarter teaspoonful, see; warm.
-
We would also give junket, arrowroot, elm water, and the like, in VARYING quantities as the body may assimilate same.
-
Then, if there are the responses, in fifteen to twenty-eight days we may give further instructions.
-
Only if the environs are changed would we use these suggestions as given. Take the body home.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Has the body tuberculosis; if so, what type? (A) A consuming fire, which is rather of the consumptive than tubercle nature, that is attacking the lymph and the emunctory circulation. Intestinal and nerve character.
-
(Q) Any other suggestions to those who attend this body? (A) Either make the changes or reconcile self to the outcome under the present surroundings. These treatments suggested may be applied at home, and - as we find - these WOULD be effective; but don’t wait too long!
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 12/27/33 Letter from [779] to EC: ”…I have talked with Mr. […] since he received it, up to that time he had not started on the treatment, but he said that they expected to right after Xmas, and it was so near Christmas and the girl [471] had already arranged for her tree at the Camp. I really don’t know if they will try to do as suggested or not, they seem to be afraid to take her home on account of one son not very strong, and too I think he talked to or let their Dr. read it and did not encourage them to try it any. So I told him it was up to him now, and as the Dr’s had told him there were nothing else they could do, that I was very sure he would not make any mistake in doing just what the reading said regardless what anybody else said or thought. I am in hopes they will and that before it is too late. I explained very well to him that unless the suggestions were done he could not expect any reward.”
R2. 1/14/34 Father wrote: “I have recently brought my daughter home and several days ago started tr. as per your instructions.” [He wondered about efficacy of the inhalations with bedclothing on her, windows open, etc. GD sent him extract from T.B. patient [418] in re drafts, etc. EC wrote encouraging letter.]
R3. 2/4/34 Letter from [779] to EC: ”…Cayce, I regret to tell you that Miss [471] died Friday night the 2nd and will be buried this P.M. She passed out all of sudden I think. She had been reading the Bible herself every night - until the night she went away. She ask her mother to read it to her - said that she was nervous. The family took it very hard. I still think that if the suggestions had been promptly carried out I feel that it would have been OK…”
R4. 3/3/34 Father expressed appreciation for EC’s sympathy letter and asked for EC’s views on after life, etc.
