Time of Reading 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City, N.Y.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions; also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
Now, we find the physical forces of this body are very good in many respects. There has existed those disturbing conditions in the physical functioning that has brought some uneasiness, some distress, to the body. In these, then, rather the warning to the body should be emphasized, that the more normal forces may be brought about - the body keeping, through same, nearer a normal equilibrium within the system, and a more perfect coordination in the body’s rebuilding and replenishing from the assimilations of and through physical conditions of the body.
-
In the distresses that have been brought about, we find there are some specific conditions to be reckoned with, and that these cause disturbing elements through improper incentives as are created in the physical conditions of the body. These are in the form of lesions as exist in the cerebro-spinal system, and with the correction of these conditions the greater portion of the disturbing forces will be eliminated, and the body drawn into more perfect coordination - keeping the better equilibrium in the physical conditions of the body.
-
In the specifics as would be necessary for the various conditions as are set in proper vibration with corrections, these had best be followed more closely with the corrections made. But first we would have these corrections made through the osteopathic adjustments. These are seen in the upper brachial plexus and the lower cervical. Hence disturbance as is seen through these portions of the system, with that in the lumbar plexus also causing the reaction - or the system to respond badly at times to those conditions that would bring about the better assimilations for the body.
-
When at least six (6) of the adjustments and treatments are given (and one should be taken at least every other day, until alignment is made in the cerebro-spinal system), then begin with THIS as the first preparation to create eliminations and the correct vibration in the pulmonaries, in the heart’s action, and in coordination in the sensory system - for all show disturbing conditions under the present forces:
To one-half (1/2) gallon of distilled water, add:
Compound Syrup of Sarsaparilla…1 ounce, Tincture Wild Cherry Bark…1 ounce, Tincture Stillingia…1/2 ounce, Essence of Yellow Dock Root…1/4 ounce, Essence of Burdock Root…1/4 ounce, Elixir Calisaya…1/2 ounce.
Reduce this by simmering (not boiling) to eight (8) ounces. Then add pure grain alcohol one (1) ounce, with two (2) drams Balsam of Tolu cut in it. Add then two (2) minims of Tincture Capsici.
-
The dose of this (and solution should be shaken together before each dose is taken) would be one-half (1/2) teaspoonful in water before each meal and at bedtime.
-
When the full quantity has been taken, then the changes necessary for the full correction would be given.
-
We are through for the present.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/10/27 EC’s letter to Mr. [4737]: “We enclose, herewith, the reading as gotten this afternoon. I’m sorry indeed that there was such a delay in this, but you already know the cause and circumstances. I trust this hasn’t caused you any worry or inconvenience.
“You will notice from the suggestions, Mr. [4737] that it will be necessary for you to have another reading - as the suggestions given here are only for the preparation for the real correction that should be made for better physical conditions of your body. When you have carried out these suggestions, we shall be very glad to make another appointment, and we certainly hope and trust we can attend to same without any delay.
“Please let us hear from you, for I assure you we feel a very personal interest in each and every individual we try to help.”
R2. 4/27 Report: [Kindly advise us in the space below if you have followed all, or any part, of the suggestions given in your reading of March 10, 1927, and give us in detail the exact results you have obtained.]
[Answer] “Frankly, neither I nor anyone I showed it to could understand the reading of March 10, 1927. I met Mr. Cayce a few days later and he told me he would be glad to interpret it for me.
“If the reading can be re-written in more understandable form
- send it to me in care of PALACE HOTEL, SAN FRANCISCO, CAL. I leave for San Francisco next Tuesday & will be there a month at least.”
R3. 4/26/27 EC’s letter to Mr. [4737] c/o Palace Hotel, S.F. Calif.: “I am in receipt of your report, and I would like very much to be of help if I can know just what it is you wish to ask concerning your reading - but to undertake to re-write same would be an impossibility on my part, but if there are any questions that you desire to ask in respect to same, I shall be very glad to give you my interpretation of what the information already given in the reading means - but to try to explain it offhand, or re-write it, I can’t do that! And, as you will remember, when I told you I would be glad to try to explain it to you, I told you if you would ask questions about it - or, as I told you, either one of the gentlemen that were at the meeting that evening, who had had considerable experience with the work, would be glad to try to explain it to you. But you know it’s impossible to explain something, Mr. [4737] when I don’t know what it is you do not understand. If you will read over your reading again, mark paragraph or ask questions, I shall be very glad to try and explain same to you.
“Hoping you will do this - for I feel very sure you are not an exception out of the thousands for whom we have given readings who HAVE gotten results from following the suggestions given - and with kindest personal regards, I am…”
R4. 5/8/27, Mr. [4737]‘s letter to EC: “I have your letter of April 26th.
“Frankly, Mr. Cayce I can not understand any part of that last report. Neither could my Dr., nor one or two others I showed it to. Sorry I cannot be more specific.
“Furthermore I have not the report with me.
“If you can enlighten me I will be glad.”
R5. 5/21/27 Mr. [4737]‘s letter to EC: “Have not yet received reply to my last letter. Address next two weeks is c/o Palace Hotel, S.F. Calif.”
R6. 5/30/27 EC’s letter to Mr. [4737]: “Replying to yours of the 21st, we answered your last letter just as soon as we received it. I believe, as I said in my letter, if you will arrange to stop by Va. Beach on your way East, that we can go over this matter with you and I hope may be of service. Our physician then in charge of the work will be able to go over the case thoroughly with you and enlighten you concerning what is meant.
“Hoping that you will arrange to do this, I am…”
R7. 11/26/27 EC wrote Mr. [4737] of his forthcoming trip to N.Y., hoping that he would be able to see him and discuss the reading with him.
R8. 12/6/27 [4737]‘s letter to EC on “Office of the Treasurer” stationery: “Thank you for your letter of Nov. 26th, but I was in Pittsburgh on the 29th and very busy on Nov. 30th and Dec. 1st.
“I hope your trip to New York was successful.”
R9. 12/13/27 EC’s letter to Mr. [4737]: “I was sorry that circumstances prevented you from getting in to see me while I was in New York. Things came about that prevented my getting away from New York before the 9th, but I think now I will be there again about the third week in January. Possibly that will be more convenient for you. I would like to go over this matter with you and see if we can’t get something out of it that will be helpful and beneficial to you.”

We have been in Florida for the past month doing some special work, and I only returned this afternoon. Your letter and wire was forwarded to us there, but it so happened your address was not on either, and we didn’t have our files with us, so couldn’t communicate with you until we got back here.
“Mr. and Mrs. Cayce will get here the first part of next week. Mr. Cayce asked me to write you and make an appointment for Thursday afternoon, the 10th of March, from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. “I am very sorry of the delay, but it was unavoidable under the circumstances. I’m hoping that we may yet be of help to you.”
