FEM: Now, Mr. Cayce, you are going to sleep. (Pause) Now, Mr. Cayce, you are asleep, and all the organs of your body will function properly. You will hear me and answer all of my questions. You have before you this afternoon the body of [4756], present in this room. I want you, Mr. Cayce, to give her physical condition, and then I have other questions that I want to ask you before you close. You will please give me the condition of the kidney, gall duct, liver, stomach, nerve forces, and also the cause of the abnormal condition in this body, and the remedy that will restore all of the organs of this body, and the actual length of time necessary for a permanent cure. The other questions I will ask you later. [4756] present in this room.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. Now, this body is very good throughout, and the action and functioning of the organs are in very good condition. The nervous forces throughout the system might be improved and strengthened by a continuation, or by a specific action of the physical, by exercises and treatments to the body at the time when the exercises are given to produce the re-action necessary to keep the whole physical and mental portions of the body fit. See?
FEM: Yes, sir.
-
The action of the liver and gall duct and kidneys and the digestive tract throughout are very good at the present time. We find the functioning of these organs themselves working to the normal forces as given off in the system, both through circulation and through nerve forces, yet the nerves themselves and the nervous system may be assisted by taking or keeping, as we have given, to this body those forces necessary to keep the nervous system fit, both mental forces and physical forces through the body, making those specific for a specific development within the body itself, and using specific treatment to those portions of the body developed and being developed when the exercises are taken by the body. We would not take medicinal properties in the system; neither would we give the vibration different from which is already in the system. See? FEM: Yes, sir.
-
Only as those we would find through exercise, plenty of fresh air and of the action to the portions of the body when these are being taken for the development, either physical or mental.
-
(Q) Mr. Cayce, is this body troubled with indigestion and constipation; if so, please tell me? (A) “Mr. Cayce, is this body troubled with indigestion and constipation; if, so, please tell me.” Only that which we have given here will be necessary for this body to take or keep for the system; the exercises to strengthen the portions of the body, - [4756] we are speaking of, - and the body will have the particular development desired. See?
FEM: Yes, sir.
For, as we have these, with the stomach forces, the exercises would then be for those that would develop the nerve force governing the stomach; that is, it would be the back force here, neck, arms and diaphragm region, with exercises. See?
FEM: Yes, sir.
For the intestinal disturbance that comes at times we would take the abdominal exercises. We would not take medicinal properties in this body; they would be harmful to the body.
- (Q) What are the abdominal exercises, Mr. Cayce? (A) “What are the abdominal exercises, Mr. Cayce?” Those that are of the circular motion for these portions of the body; the kidneys, the abdominal cavity itself, or the abdominal slope. You see?
FEM: Yes, sir.
And that of the circulation motion to the trunk portion of the body, from the hips up; you see?
FEM: Yes, sir.
And that of bending forward. Not to the floor, because that brings the body away, but that of bending the back, and then bending it forward with the face; that motion.
-
(Q) Mr. Cayce, what would you regard this body as best fitted for? (A) “Mr. Cayce, what would you regard this body as best fitted for?” To develop other individual to find themselves in their station in life.
-
(Q) Mr. Cayce, will you please tell this body where her brother, […], is at this time? (A) “Mr. Cayce, will you please tell this body where her brother, […], is at this time?” Paraguay.
-
(Q) Mr. Cayce, can you tell this body how she can go about locating this body? (A) “Mr. Cayce, can you tell this body how she can go about locating this body?” Through the regular channels that we have of obtaining information regarding citizens of another country; through the Consulate. See?
FEM: Yes, sir.
Mr. Avery is a member of it.
-
(Q) Mr. Cayce, this body would like to have you tell her whether her [other] brother, […], can pay her the money that he owes her at this time, or whether she will have to make him do so? (A) (Repeating question) I don’t find him.
-
(Q) Mr. Cayce, he is at Newberne, Ala. (A) (Repeats question)
-
(Q) See if you can find him. (A) (Repeating question) Not there at present.
-
(Q) He may be in Selma; see if you can find him there. (A) We have him on the road. Just in a short while part of it will be paid, and the rest will have to be forced.
-
(Q) See if you can find this body at Greensboro, Ala. (A) (Repeating question) We have given those, and we are through.
-
Now, Mr. Cayce, you will forget all about this reading you have just given. You are feeling fine and all right, and all the organs of your body will function properly. You are feeling splendid; now wake up in two minutes just feeling fine and all right, and free from any headache.

R1. 2/2/33 EC’s letter to [4756]:
Mrs. [4756] Birmingham, Ala.
My dear Mrs. [4756]:
In going over a list of individuals whom I had met during my stay in Birmingham some years ago, I felt impelled to write you when I came to your name. I do not know that you still have any interest in a work of this nature, but I felt you might be interested in some of the data given in the little Bulletin, a copy of which I am inclosing, and I am in hopes that when I make a visit to Birmingham this Spring that I may see and speak with you again.
May we not have a reply? Thanking you, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
R2. 6/14/33 [4756]‘s letter: “A Mrs. Mae Smith of here [B’ham] sent me a card asking that friends of yours meet Sunday afternoon to form some study group. I talked over the phone with her but I couldn’t go. I wish you would send me some of your latest data that you are teaching and I should read. You know you READ ME once. Would a new reading show me more clearly what all life is about? I’ve published my first book of verse and I have published one song.
“Please let me hear at once. Mrs. Mae Smith seems awfully nice over the phone. All success to you.” Sincerely
R3. 6/21/33 EC’s letter to [4756]:
My dear Mrs. [4756]:
I was certainly glad to have your card of the 14th. This was received just at the beginning of our Association second Annual Congress. Hence my delay in answering. The Congress closed on Sunday night.
Under separate cover I am sending some data relative to our work. I am hoping you will meet with Mrs. Smith and Mr. Wells, and the other members of the group there who are interesting themselves in forming a group in Birmingham, for a study of any phases of the phenomena that may be presented by the Association.
There may be some other phases more desirable than the lessons prepared by the Norfolk Study Group #1. To acquaint you with the various phases being presented, I am enclosing an Active membership application which has these listed on the back. Of course, it is not required that members of a study group be members of the Association, although the group as a whole becomes an Active member of the Association. It is required that each individual become a member of the Association when getting information through a reading itself, or if it desires the monthly bulletin and literature to be sent direct rather than just to the group. This I am sure you will understand, though, from your interest and knowledge of the Work in years past.
I am indeed glad to know of your success. I’ve been rather anxious to come to Birmingham again, to present in a very definite way the work and investigation being conducted by the Association. So, I hope that in the near future there may be sufficient interest aroused in Birmingham to justify my doing this.
I hope to hear from you, and that you have joined with Mrs. Smith and the others in forming a group to study any one of the phases mentioned on the back of the membership application.
Appreciating your card, hoping to hear from you again soon, and with all good wishes, I am
Sincerely, EC:GD
