This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of January, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [4757], via Mrs. [[5526]”s mother].

1. EC: Yes. Now, we find there are conditions that are of a hindrance in the physical, and there conditions that are as destructive in construction of the physical organism of the body, affecting directly the sensory organism, especially as related to the eyes.

2. In giving even assistance, much might be said as respecting the conditions that brought about this condition of destructive building, as to the mental, of life, of thought, of experience, in the ENTITY’S program; as to that necessary for the entity’s experience to gain insight into the spiritual life, the differentiations between those of constructive thought and those of destructive thought, those entering in from a material basis and finding lodgement in the mind of the soul, as to become a hindrance in a physical sense, with the abilities of awakening within the soul mind the continuity of forces - yet physically, hindrances.

3. The conditions, however, that face the body for that of material help to the physical forces of the body, enabling the body to again get hold of self, self’s own physical construction, as to create or enliven the forces in system as to over-come or to meet the emergencies as they arise, to prepare self to meet the various contingencies that come from the afflictions or the forces that manifest in the body:

In meeting these, there must be held and known that all healing, all resuscitating forces of a body must come from the divine from within, and to some this may come only to those who are enabled to gain such a consciousness from within that will make for CONSTRUCTIVE forces, doing away with passiveness in even the physical by holding to the divine, as to bring healing in the wings. These conditions, however, as we find, may be aided by the use of forces external; for all force, all power, EMANATES from one source. So, as has been given, that which makes up even the electronic energy - that man knows as electrons or energy in electricity, which may be used as a convenience, as a necessity for man’s experience - is of God itself. In awakening dormant forces, then, those forces in nature - of whatever radiation necessary to awaken within a physical being that portion that will enable the individual to gain that vision, or to lay aside those things that so easily beset in a physical consciousness and gather a vision of that from over the way, that from the Beyond, that that dwells within; for think not who will ascend to bring Him unto us, or who will go beyond the sea that we may know that He lives, but He is in thine own heart, within every atom of thine own being, and that awakening from within will enable the individual to gain that consciousness, knowing that that committed unto Him is safe, and He is able to keep that committed against every condition that may arise within our own experience.

5. In the physical forces, then, that have been builded in this body, we find elements from the central nerve system have been influenced by the pressures that exist in the 3rd and 4th dorsal, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 1st and 2nd cervical, that prevent an even flow of the nerve energy to the optic forces, and a constant drying of these forces is producing atrophy - as materially known - to the optic forces themselves. Then, to awaken same, to enliven those forces from within, an application of that from without which will bring a consciousness of the divine, of the LIVING God, of the LIVING forces, able to keep all that may be committed in a way that, while we ourselves may not understand, “Let thy yeas be yea, and thy nays be nay”; and as we build, little by little, line upon line, precept upon precept, know that the Redeemer liveth in thee, and that thou sheddest abroad is as the light that is gained by thee of that living force. If thine eye be single, if thine heart be as one with Him, the issues of life may be brought to such an understanding that will enable the individual to see, know, understand, those purposes for which the entity entered into the world, that the world might be benefitted by that the entity itself is able to shed as to the light. That maketh the world.

6. Apply, then, a radium emanation that may be had through the Degnen’s lens. These should be worn for one to twenty minutes two or three times each day, with the eyes closed, seeing the forces that are thrown off becoming one with that necessary to sustain, to rebuild, to replenish, and these will aid the body in maintaining and gaining a better hold upon self.

7. At least once each week have those vibrations in CORRECTIVE forces through manipulative measures, with first applying of HEAT direct, to the upper dorsal and cervical region, that the alignments in the cerebrospinal centers themselves may be released in such a manner as to aid the central circulation, also the nerve energies that emanate through same.

8. These will bring an understanding, and better cooperative forces. Get a hold upon self. Read, study, to know by heart, that given, “In my father’s house are many mansions. Were it not so I would have told you, for I go to prepare a place, that where I am ye may be also, and I - if I be lifted up - will draw ALL MEN unto me. Even as Moses lifted the serpent in the wilderness, and he that looked was healed from within - he that looketh on me, as I am lifted in that consciousness of the individual that the soul hangs upon that clarifying of the life from ALL forces of the material forces, may be lifted up and enlivened from within.” Following these on, as was given, “The way I go ye know,” and when thou hast attained the way into the inner consciousness, through the addition even of the forces from without to enable the individual to raise the consciousness in the various forces from oppression from without and from within, allowing the full force of life itself to emanate, that necessary of the light for thine development in the spiritual light is given. We are through.

R1. 1/28/31 EC wrote encouraging him to follow the treatment. He was sent the address from which he could obtain the Degnen’s lens. Mr. Cayce suggested he write first for details as to price, etc. Radium Appliance Co., Los Angeles, Calif., which later was forced out of business.]

B1. 1/13/31 He sent membership application, saying: “I have been unable to work for nine years, so my finances are necessarily very low…[He requested reading without fee for time being]. I am very confident that I can be helped, if I can find the right treatment, so I am more than anxious to have a reading at as early a date as possible.”

B2. 1/24/31 He submitted questions: “What can I do to restore sight and life in optic nerve? Could I get glasses to help me now? If so, where? What can I do to help my spiritual development? I believe in a living God. Am I right? How can I come in contact with God? I have been helped some by faith, and I am sure there is a higher law if I knew how I could contact and be healed. I can’t see to read or write very well, and hope you can understand this. Hope to hear from you very soon.”
