EC: Yes, we have the body here, [4762], present in this room.
-
Now, we find there are rather the complication of disorders with this body. These are partially of a specific nature and partially the results of effects created by the disturbance one portion has upon the other portions of the body.
-
In times back we find there was an injury to the body, where the muscular forces and those in the tendons were strained, and that with the settling of poisons in the system - as have come from inactivity in the thyroids, then poisons arising from one side or portion of tonsil - these, combined, have produced those conditions in the lumbar and the lower dorsal area, that affect the locomotion and the extremities of the body in the present. Hence we find a blood supply that has become deficient in the nutriments necessary for the resuscitating of the vitality and vital forces of the system; rather being submerged in the virility of the system, by the poisons as have been and are attempting to be eliminated from the system. This makes for the WEAKNESS as occurs in the body, the inability of the body to GRASP or to HOLD - as it were, the muscular forces refusing to contract to their normalcy. This also makes for those conditions in the regions where those disorders have existed, as produces the distress in the activities of the body in the lower portion of same; naturally affecting the eliminations, for a normal activity of same.
-
In meeting the needs of the conditions in the present, we would find, that were we to use this as a massage and a rub for those portions where the injury has affected the body, these will make for, with the rub and WITH the properties themselves, that which will bring about a better condition in THIS portion of system. Then, we would take one-half gallon of kerosene oil. To this we would add one-half ounce oil of mustard, and one-half ounce oil of cedar. Shake same together THOROUGHLY when first combined, and each time before it is used. When being used, shake together and pour about two to three tablespoonsful in a shallow container, and apply to the sacral, lumbar and WHOLE of the cerebro-spinal system, PARTICULARLY in the lower dorsal, across the lumbar, and down the limbs on the sciatic nerves. This, as we find, will strike in.
-
When the PAIN is EXCRUCIATING in nature, when the body attempts to move, we would apply a saturated solution of Epsom Salts, heated as hot as the body can bear, over the area where the pain is shown.
-
We would take internally, to CLARIFY the drosses of system, to make for a balance of the elements necessary to make a normal functioning of the thyroids of the throat and portions where disorders arise (that is, the poisons arise in system), those of atomic iodine, or Atomidine, in SMALL doses; taking two to three minims (or drops) three times each day. Take after the morning meal, after the noon meal, and before retiring; not more than two to three drops in half a glass of water. Take this for at least ten days or two weeks, then discontinue same for three to four days - then take ANOTHER round of same.
-
For the diet, this would be rather as an outline - it may be altered or changed when the conditions begin to improve, but DO NOT change too suddenly until there is a thorough CLEANSING of the system:
-
Mornings - the citrous fruits ONLY, at least for a period of three to five days.
-
Noons - either vegetable soups or meat soups, but NONE of the meats - see?
-
Evenings - vegetables, all characters and kinds; those ONLY, though, that grow ABOVE the ground. A little, then, of meats may be taken, but no HOG meat should be taken AT ALL!
-
Do this, and we will find we will correct these conditions for this body.
-
We would be mindful that when the body is massaged each evening, see, with this solution, that there is a THOROUGH massage along the whole of the cerebro-spinal system, and ESPECIALLY in the lower portion of body and along the sciatic nerve. Do that. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes the tinglings in the legs? (A) The hindrance of nerve and blood circulation, by the impairment through pressure - see? in the lumbar and in the LOCOMOTARY centers. That’s across the lower portion of the sacral, or just where the nerve plexus in the brush end of cerebro-spinal meet those in the plexus that makes the LOCOMOTARY plexus to the lower limbs. This combination MASSAGED IN will release the poisons; the MASSAGE (hence the massage will be given deep and thorough, you see) will relieve the pressure.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 4/13/32 GD’s note: This was a form letter to everyone re. membership and EC work promotion.
Mr. [4762] P.O. Box 223, …, Va.
Dear Mr. [4762]
We are glad to inclose your membership card in the Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc. We sincerely trust that we have been of service, that you found the application of the suggestions given in your physical reading of last December to be very helpful in relieving and alleviating the pain. We shall be very glad if you will let us hear from you in regard to the results obtained. May we?
Now, if your know of anyone else whom you feel that we might be able to aid, will you be so kind as to tell them about Mr. Cayce and the work he is endeavoring to do in aiding suffering humanity? We are inclosing the necessary application blanks if you should know of such a one. All we ask of those we have tried to aid is this: If you have been helped, tell others; if not, tell us, and we shall endeavor to find the reason. Will you do this much for us?
Trusting that we may soon hear from you in regard to your own condition, and that you may be able to interest someone else in our work, with my very best wishes, I am
Sincerely yours, Secretary to the Association
R2. 5/13/32 [4762]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I guess you think I’ll never pay you. It is not my fault you have not been paid. I am thankful to say I am better than I was, but not well by no means. My leg still hurts. Dec. & Jan. I was getting worse all the time, finally got where I could not go to bed at all, or sleep for 3 or 4 weeks. Then Dr. Brooks treated me. In Feb. I got better, but just got to work 2 weeks ago. So you see my circumstances, had to get a friend to let me have money to pay on my home. So the Bldg. Loan would not take it. Now if I can keep work long enough to pay back and if not, and you should have any carpenter work later on, I can do for you to settle my bill with you, I’ll be glad to do so. Thanking you kindly.
Yours Truly, [4762] Box 222
R3. 5/17/32 EC’s letter to Mr. [4762]:
Dear Mr. [4762]
I have yours of the 13th, and am certainly glad to know you are able to be back at work again. We hope that you will be physically fit to carry on.
While we are very much in need of funds at this time, don’t worry yourself about what you owe us. You know that I am always more than glad to try and be of service to the other fellow. Possibly I am too good in that respect for my own good, but the welfare of my fellow man interests me a great deal more than the welfare of my own self.
However, just at this time I have a little job I would like for some of you to figure on. My good friend Mr. Henning suggested sometime ago that if I had anything to let him know and he would get a few of you together and help me out. The building, the DeTrevill Cottage at Arctic Circle, a two-story house across the street from the Catholic Church. Can you stop by there some afternoon after work and talk with me about this little job?
Hoping you are feeling much, much better, I am
Ever the same, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R4. GD’s note: Mr. [4762] did come to take care of this job for EC but I do not remember any further contact with him.
R5. 7/30/47 HLC said he had heard that Mr. [4762] had died.
