This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of June, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [480], Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 10:45 to 10:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Detroit, Mich. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
Developments as we find are near normal. While there are some disturbances as of dizziness in the greater change of the circulation to the body depending upon this body, these are rather a normal condition - and only precautionary measures as we find are necessary.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Why the shortness of breath? (A) This is only under taxation and is the general demand upon the system for the flow of impulse and circulation through the system. Not even an organic disturbance from functioning, but a normal condition under the circumstance.
-
(Q) Any special or specific precautions to be taken at this time? (A) As indicated, not climbing, not being in the position where there is any undue excitement or anything of that kind, but that which makes for cheery, optimistic expressions in every manner.
-
We are through with this Reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/15/37 “I have been feeling very well and even Dr. O’Connor said that he’s waiting for me to complain and he’s never seen such an easy prenatal case.”
R2. 6/26/37 She phoned for mother’s 601-20.
R3. 7/6/37 GD’s note: Telephone request by Mrs. [601] Tuesday morning, July 6, 1937, around nine o’clock - “Have bad news for you, Gladys - we have no baby. Get a Rdg. on [480] - find out what happened. Everything was going fine - baby was born around seven o’clock - fine boy - couldn’t get it to breathe.” By then she was crying so, I could hardly hear her
“I don’t know how we can break the news to [480] - she doesn’t know it, is still under the influence of gas. Fourteen hours’ labor - don’t know what happened; whether they gave her too much of the rectal anaesthetic, which killed the baby - or what. Please find out what happened, and what to do for [480] - she is at the Osteopathic Hospital. Call me around seven o’clock at home.” Her voice died out and she hung up - crying.
- What precautions should be taken to restore this body to normal?
- What happened to the baby that it did not stay alive?
- Was the fault in the applications before birth or afterwards?
- Please explain, from a spiritual angle, this tragedy; or was it just a physical accident?
- Can any consolation or comfort be given through these sources for the mother, the father and the grandparents?
- Just how may they reconcile themselves, mentally, physically and spiritually?
- Did a soul enter the body of the baby for just a passing experience, or is the same soul still waiting to enter a child born to these parents?
