GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions; also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: We have the body here.
-
Now, we find in many respects the physical forces of the body are very good. There are those specific conditions of which the body should be warned, and of which the body should take cognizance; for, with this continual derangement, as it were, of nerve supply, and the system attempting to adjust itself, there is builded those conditions that bring distress to portions of the body. Specifically, these are seen in the cerebro-spinal nerve system. While the specific reactions are seen in the sensory system and the resultant effects of same in the mucus producing conditions or portions of body in other parts of body which are becoming distressing to the physical welfare of body.
-
In times back we find there was an injury to the spine, near the base of the cerebro-spinal with the sacral. Here we find form of lesion that causes disturbance through the body. With the continual pressure and lack of the full elimination, there was produced that of the catarrhal condition in the lower portion of the stomach. With this pressure here on these plexus, and with congestion in the nasal cavity, there was again produced a pressure on the forces that supply the auditory force, or sensory system. Hence the condition in the throat, tonsils, and the Eustachian Tube, hindering the full action of the hearing and sight. With the continuation of these conditions the resultant force would be not so much the hindrance to sight or hearing, but the drosses being diverted, there will develop the stomach trouble - that of the ulceration, then of deterioration to the body in the ability to procreate sufficient of the rebuilding or replenishing forces for the body, see?
-
These, as general, are the conditions as we find in this body, [4845].
-
To remove or overcome these conditions, first there should be - through the osteopathic manipulation - the correction of the condition existent, first, in the sacral and the lumber and dorsal region, exciting, as it were, or FORCING the higher eliminations to the body, taking quantities - at least three (3) bottles - of that as is seen in the oil in which there is prepared the magnesia and those properties that bring the regular eliminations higher, see?
-
It would be necessary for at least twenty-six (26) adjustments and treatments, and at or near the end of such treatments, treat directly that of the Eustachian Tube, clearing same, and applying - when these treatments are begun - the Violet Ray (heavy) from the 6th dorsal to the upper cervical, see?
-
Keep the diet in the way of keeping easier assimilation. Not meats and not all vegetables. Not all meat nor all vegetable, but a well BALANCED diet. No hog meat, ever. Those of the better pieces, as it were, of beef or mutton, chicken, fowl or fish, may be taken in moderation. Preferably those in vegetable of the green variety; that is, as of lettuce, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, or of THAT nature, prepared to suit the taste of the body.
-
In eight to ten (8 to 10) weeks there should be the ENTIRE recovery of the hearing, and the eyesight will show much improvement also, with the elimination of the catarrhal and stomach disorders.
-
Do that.
-
We are through for the present.

REMARKS
(You will please state in the space below how near, in your opinion, reading fits your condition, as you know it yourself, and if you expect to carry out the suggestions made for the improvement of your health.)
Dear Sirs:-
Reading received this day. It is very WONDERFUL as describing conditions that exist. Am ready and anxious to follow the suggested treatment as soon as I can find a convenient practitioner of Osteopathy, there being none in our city to my knowledge. Am very sure of good results when I can get the treatments under way.
Sincerely, [4845]
R2. 7/30/27 [4845]‘s letter:
Mr Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va,
Dear Sir:-
Since receiving your reading I have begun a course of treatment with an Osteopath in Indianapolis, Ind., the nearest practitioner. After his examination he told me his diagnosis and I find it to agree exactly with your report which I consider most wonderful example of Psychic Reading.
We are going after the trouble along the lines you have suggested and are hopeful of results. Dr Allen Paul van B. Allen, D.O.] is in the Merchants Natl Bank Building at Indianapolis and would be pleased if you will send to him one of your little booklets. He is interested in the reading and says he will follow the treatment with much more than ordinary interest. Will advise you as the treatment progresses.
Hoping for you the very best results in your effort to be of service to mankind, I am Sincerely Yours [4845]

Gentlemen:-
Your request received. Following the diagnosis I treated for a year with Osteopathy with no apparent results except as general health repair.
The back still gives trouble and am afraid it always will.

My dear Mr. [4845]
Replying to yours of the 8th, wouldn’t it be possible for you to arrange to come and spend a week or two with us, and let us get your condition straightened up? You might be able to do this before the holidays, but knowing you are busy at that time - if you could arrange it right after the first of the year, I think that’s the way for you to get results.
Let me hear from you on this, won’t you?
Sincerely, [signed by GD] Edgar Cayce by G.D. EC:GD.
R6. 11/18/29 [4845]‘s reply:
Mr. Edgar Cayce
My Dear Sir:-
I appreciate your attitude in the matter and expressed interest in my physical condition.
Am sure I will not be able to arrange as above.
Sincerely, [4845]
R7. 6/3/34 Brother [550]‘s wife [639]‘s letter: “Mr. [550]‘s brother [4845] is the one who learned of you through a traveling man, calling at his store, possibly 30 yrs. ago, when he wrote you at Hopkinsville, Ky., for a reading of his cousin, [4970]. Then 24 yrs. ago he wrote you for a reading for Mr. [550], when we were living in Houston, Texas, which was Mr. [550]‘s first reading…”
“Friday morning Mr. [550] received a wire from his brother, [4845], asking him to wire you for a reading for his son who was very ill at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind., the doctor having told him the end was near. Mr. [550] wired you as requested. Then wired you again that he had passed away 6:30 o’clock Friday evening… We regret that Brother [4845] waited until so late to ask for a reading.”
Background
Background
B1. 8/21/09 Letter reported correct diagnosis of his relative [cousin], Mr. [4970]. Subsequently Mr. [4845] referred his brother, Mr. [550], for a Physical Reading [See 4845-1, Par. R7].
B2. 5/11/27 Letter: ”…Am enclosing check for fifteen dollars. Will you kindly give me a reading bearing on my hearing, defective sight, throat, catarrhal trouble and stomach. I do not know what your fee is and if not correct, please advise. Indirectly, I know something of your work and am satisfied that you can tell me how to get relief. Would very much like an early reply and, if possible, at once…”
B3. 5/31/27 Letter reiterated correctness of EC’s diagnosis of his relative, Mr. [4970].
B4. 6/9/27 EC’s letter to [4845]:
Mr. [4845] …, Ind.
My dear Mr. [4845]
When we started to take your reading this morning, we noticed that you gave the address as the International Convention of Kiwanis at Memphis, Tenn. Now, from our past experience we find, Mr. [4845], that this address is too indefinite for us to be sure that the correct individual is located when the reading is given. So, we are having to ask you to make another appointment, and be more specific as to the location of your body at the time reading is made. If you are at your place of business, all well and good - just so you will remain in that building during the time set for reading - but to try and locate you at a convention in Memphis - we do not think it wise, from past experience, to even undertaken the reading. While we regret very much this delay in getting the reading for you, we feel like that it would not be doing you or ourselves justice in attempting a reading under the present conditions.
We are making the appointment for the morning of July 12th. Now, if this is satisfactory, please return enclosed card, giving us just where you will be on THAT day. I know this is in advance, and you may not know just now where you will be, but return card in time that we may have it in hand before the day set for reading.
Recently, those interested in the phenomena as has been manifested, have gone about to systematize the work in such a way and manner that we feel we will be able to more efficiently assist those who desire aid through these sources. We trust to send you data concerning this sometime in the near future, and hope to have you enrolled with us in this philanthropic work.
Regretting the delay, but hoping to be of service, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
