GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body. You will answer any questions regarding this body that I might ask you.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. Now, we find there are many abnormal conditions with this body, yet the body has that resistive force which, if added to through the proper means, the physical forces would be able to overcome these conditions, that have to do with the functioning of the organs in the system, for as yet we have only organic conditions to deal with.
-
Now, these are conditions as we find them in this body, Mrs. [4890], we are speaking of. First:
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, in this, we find this very good in its elemental forms, yet carrying that bacilli in the system that produces a strain on the red blood and building forces of the system; changing in its action occasionally from the low blood pressure to that of high, with excess of low, or the white. Again an excess of the red, again an excess of those of the form of bacilli that produces the pus forming cell in its separation in various functioning organs. Hence the conditions as are created in various portions of the system.
-
IN THE NERVE SUPPLY, this we find very good in many ways, yet very much under a strain, especially in the sympathetic and sensory systems, see? No special impingements as we find in the system, save as a sympathetic condition in certain ganglia.
-
IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, brain forces very good.
-
Functioning of the organs of sensory system show the strain under which this portion of system functions. Hence the conditions that occur at times with ears, eyes, nose, and the peculiar sensation as is experienced in the whole capillary circulation, through the ganglia of the system in capillary and in the lymphatic circulation. Tingling sensations, pains in various portions of the joints, burning sensation in the skin at times, dryness in various portions of the body, dry in throat, mouth, dry on bottom of feet, dry on certain portions of the hand; again burning and a perspiration breaking out - see?
-
In throat, bronchials, lungs and larynx, the effects of the blood condition and the disturbed circulation in its poor assimilation, and overtaxed eliminations at times, gives distress to the bronchials and the throat. This rather the strain as produced on system than an organic condition, see? and the system attempting to eliminate those properties of the streptococci, or pus forming bacilli, finds these form a kind of phlegm in lung, throat and bronchials. Easily thrown off at times, again forms a catarrhal condition in nose and nostrils, see?
-
In the digestive system, this very good, though poor assimilation at times, see?
-
In the liver, spleen and hepatic circulation, this very good at the present time, though when overtaxed, the whole system feels “let down” as it were, keeping tired for lack of vitality to exercise the whole portion of body.
-
The kidneys overtaxed. Hence over-active.
-
In the pelvis and the organs of genitation, we find the greater trouble, for the system suffers from that irritation of leukorrhea, and the after effects of gonorrhea - see? This, then, produces the strain on the whole system.
-
Then, to overcome these conditions, we would add much to the system in a systematic and in a consistent manner, see? First, the body should not eat MEATS or BUTTER, or ANY FATS, for the time being, see? That is, for three to five weeks. Taking, then, green vegetable forces as much as possible. Beans, lentils - any kind of the form of vegetable forces are good for the system, under the existent condition.
-
For the general tonic in system, take this:
Syrup of Sarsaparilla…2 ounces, Syrup from Wild Cherry Bark…2 ounces, Tincture Stillingia…1 ounce, Essence of Poke-Root…15 minims, Elixia Calisaya…2 ounces, Essence of Burdock Root…1/2 ounce, Tincture Capsici…1 minim, Oil of Peppermint…2 minims. Sufficient simple syrup to make 16 ounces.
Shake solution well together before each dose is taken. The dose would be teaspoonful four times each day. When the body (from the appetite as this creates in system) desires food, take whole wheat gruels, or of Vanilla or Wheat Wafers, or plain crackers that have been browned, see?
-
Use, for the condition in the vagina and womb, the sitz or steam bath, as this: In a crock, or bucket, containing gallon and a half of very hot water, or boiling (or as hot as body can stand, see?) add Tincture of Myrrh 20 drops, Tincture of Sweet Gum 20 drops. Remain sitting over this, with the vagina and the puba exposed to this steam, see, for at least fifteen to twenty minutes once each day.
-
Every second or third day use a warm douche of Creolin, see? and the off day, or every third day, see, following this, use an antiseptic solution of the Glyco-Thymoline as douche also, see? This had best be used in Fountain Syringe than in the forced syringe, see, or spray.
-
With these conditions, we will find the body will improve. Necessary, to be sure, while these treatments are being taken, that body keep itself clean from the association with opposite sex, see? Do this. We will find in five to six weeks, the body will show the change. Then there would be given that necessary to eliminate ENTIRELY these conditions from system.
-
(Q) How much Creolin and Glyco-Thymoline should be used in the douches? (A) Two teaspoonsful of Glyco-Thymoline in quart of water. One teaspoonful - or beginning perhaps best with ten to fifteen drops of the Creolin - see?
-
(Q) Has this body what is commonly known as tuberculosis? (A) No.
-
(Q) Has this body what is commonly known, any bad disease? (A) That as given.
-
(Q) Why does the body suffer such pains at the menstrual periods, and why so irregular? (A) The condition of circulation producing irregularity, see? Blood condition and the run down condition, or lack of vital forces necessary to produce same. The suffering produced from the condition as is found in vagina and womb, see?
Do as given, and we will find we will bring the better and normal forces for this body.
- We are through for the present.

R1. 11/17/25 EC’s letter to [3980]:
115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va.
My dear Mrs. [3980]
I’m enclosing you, herewith, the reading for Mrs. [4890]. I certainly am in hopes that this will prove quite beneficial to her in every way. I trust that she will try this out thoroughly, and I am sure that she will get some wonderful results from same. We shall be very glad to hear from her, and we are in hopes that when the time comes, she’ll feel sufficiently improved to try out the rest of it. As for the contribution, we ask that people do the best they can, for of course, we are at considerable expense and depend upon this for our “meat and bread,” and as you know, we can only do two of these in one day, and it requires the services of three to get them.
Hoping that you are feeling on the improve yourself, and with kindest personal regards to you and Mr. […] [husband].
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

REMARKS:
(You will please state in the space below how near, in your opinion, reading fits your condition, as you know it yourself, and if you expect to carry out the suggestions made for the improvement of your health.)
As near as I can see the reading was right. I intend to try the treatments and I really think they will help me. As I haven’t any work at the present it is impossible for me to send you any money, but I will send you more as soon as I can. Or when I let you hear from me in 5 or 6 wks., will send you some money then. I had to leave my other work because my health was poor and have been trying to get more work now but times are hard now and work is scarce. I’m sure I will get better by taking the treatments you have told me to take and feel more like working.
Yours truly, Mrs. [4890]
R3. 12/2/25 Letter from Mrs. [3980] to EC: ”…This leaves Mr. [3981] [husband] and myself feeling fine. We are trying to do all we can for you as you have surely helped us…”
R4. 12/2/25 Letter from Mrs. [3980] to EC: “I expect you will be surprised to get two letters from me in the same day, but Mr. [3981] just came from Columbus and as he was getting Mrs. [4980]‘s medicine you prescribed, I find I will have to write again.
“The druggist does not know what you mean about Tincture of sweet gum. Can you tell us where we can get the same?
“This Mrs. [4890] is a school chum of mine and has been staying with us for the past two months. She has not been able to find any work but when she does she is going to send you more money for her reading. I understand the expenses you have and we are trying to help you as much as we can. Mr. [3981] thinks he has a couple of men who will write you from Columbus…”
R5. 12/5/25 EC’s letter to [3980]:
My dear Mrs. [3980]:-
Very glad to have both of your letters of the 2nd. We shall be pleased to make appointment for Mrs. […] and enclosed you will find the appointment date. I am in hopes that this day and hour will be satisfactory with her.
As regarding the prescription for Mrs. [4890], I am sure Mr. [3981] will be able to get Fluid Extract of Tolu in solution. That’s the essence or tincture of Sweet Gum. I don’t know why the druggists there want to “hem and haw” about things in this way. I suppose it is that they do not know me, for if they did I’m sure there’d be no trouble, for we never have any trouble where I meet them in person. I shall be glad to get it here for her if she so desires. I think it costs about 25 cents to 30 cents an ounce.
I certainly appreciate your and Mr. [3981]‘s efforts on our part, also on your efforts as relating to those who have not received benefits from the regular practitioners. As you well know, from your own experience, I have no fault whatever to find with the doctors, no matter of what school, but I like to offer my services to those who have not received benefits through the regular channels, if they desire same.
However, I do not wish to urge my work on anyone. I also think I appreciate the position that many people, as Mrs. [4890], are placed in. We certainly appreciate their efforts and we do not desire that the lack of funds bar anyone from taking advantage of this, if they desire to try it. However, we wish them to be as considerate as lies within their means, for I am sure, as you have already seen, you recognize our position.
I’m certainly pleased to know what you have to say regarding yours and Mr. […]‘s physical health. Thanking you again and again, for your kindness and consideration, and trusting that you will let us hear from you from time to time, and with kindest personal regards for you and Mr. [3981],
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

(THIS FORM TO BE FILLED OUT AND RETURNED ONE MONTH LATER)
NAME Mrs. [4890] ADDRESS …, Ohio
Kindly advise us in the space below if you have followed all, or any part, of the suggestions given in your reading of November 17, 1925, and give us in detail the exact results you have obtained.
I have followed all of the suggestions given in my reading with the exceptions of one, and that is the stoop bath. Mr. [3981] has been getting my medicine for me and he has neglected getting the medicine for that treatment. I am going to get it at once though, and take the treatment. I am obtaining results as far as I have taken the treatments. The tonic I have been taking is nearly all gone. Should I get some more now? Is it necessary to make another reading now?
R7. 1/4/26 EC’s letter to [4890]:
Dear Mrs. [4890]:-
Thank you very much for the report sent in last week. Inasmuch, as you have not gotten the properties for part of the treatment, I believe my advice at this time would be that you get this, have your tonic refilled again, and then within the next three weeks let us hear from you again and at that time we’d like to make a check reading. I’m certainly glad to know you’re getting results so far as you’ve gone, and I’m sure you are going to be your normal self when you’ve carried out all of the other suggestions.
Hoping to hear from you at least by the 27th or 28th of the present month.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R8. 2/8/26 Letter from [3980] to EC: “I am writing in regards to Mrs. [4890]. She has run out of the Tonic again. What should she do at this time? She has taken the other treatments regular for the past three weeks and seems to be on the improve. She will send you some money when she hears from you as she is working here now and staying with me…”
R9. 2/11/26 EC’s letter to [3980]: ”…As regarding the tonic for Mrs. [4890], I am sure she should get at least one more quantity, and by the end of that time, we should then give another reading and see if there are any changes to be made. I’m glad to know that she has gained sufficient to be able to go ahead with her regular work…”

B1. 11/2/25 Friend [3980]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I am writing you again but not for myself this time. Am bringing you a new customer. Mrs. [4890], (my girl friend) would like to know when you can make a reading of her. This girl has been disgusted with life until I talked to her and told her about you. She has been married for 4 years and her husband has been going with other girls. She is very nervous and in a run down condition. Here are the questions she wishes to know: If she has the T.B. If she has (Bad Disease). If she can have children. Why is she irregular at menstrual periods. Why she has such pains at that time. If she takes treatments or medicine that you prescribe to her, how long will it be before she is cured?
She has been to a Dr. who told her she is T.B. She has a constant flowing all the time she wonders if her husband has given her this disease by him running with other women. She has worried so much this may be caused by this weakened condition. Hope you can help her as much as you have me, which I am sure you can.
I am feeling as well as can be expected. Mr. […] [husband] is selling tobacco for the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and I have full charge of the store now. I don’t think I can be completely cured until I get out of the store and not be on my feet so much, as you told me.
Hope you are having success with your wonderful work which I know you will if every one has the faith that I have in you. Have told several about your work and how much it has helped me.
Hoping to hear from you real soon in regard to Mrs. [4890]. I remain, as ever,
Yours truly, Mrs. [3980], …, O., Box 208
