This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 27th day of June, 1925, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick. Involuntary, that is, given without suggestion to obtain it, following two physicals, one for Miss [4531] and the other for Mr. [3714].

Time of Reading Bosque County, 12:45 Noon - Dayton Savings Time. Texas.

1. EC: Now, we have here the operations as in the well being drilled on the lands of Madison Byron Wyrick in Bosque County, Texas. We find there has only a small part of the depth as given to be made has as yet been completed. We find the full depth at the present time fifty-four twenty-nine (5429). In reaching, then, the full depth, as we shall have then thirty (30) more feet of the muck and shale, then the harder, with the entering into the production.

2. The conditions about the operations have not been as satisfactory as some have felt should be. This is rather fault of the condition of the tools than of the individual, for the machinery, the engines, the wheels, the pulleys, all show their wear and tear on same. Keep that one who has been so faithful in the operations working on the job, for we will find production when these have been carried to this point - fifty-six - two - see?

3. Then, we would find this would be necessary, that this be kept only in the one shift. While we have the effect and delays by the caving and the settlement in the wait, yet better that this be carried with care and that the hurry be made at the present depth, for while little time required in this manner, yet the certainty of success is made by that manner, for only needs not grow weary, for very soon we will find the success and oil rising to the top of the hole.

R1. 6/21/25 G. C. Martin’s letter [extract]:

The reading was correct from caving or muck or mud with shale we are in a Chinese Hog Pen or it smells like it no its more like carbide or gas anyway its causing some real trouble. Pat was most ready to give up Thursday for he fought it all day and the belt breaking twice and is afraid to cut it again for fear it would break and not be able to get bit out of the hole and too its so hot that it takes the pep out of the men. Hope Cayce is right in being near the production. Pat says he has never seen a well except it has the same stuff just above the oil and gas. Mr. Louder, Railway Commission Agent was here Monday. He looked at the slush and said he could see no reason why we will not get it soon.

Dear Cayce Here is our usual Friday hard luck. Hope this finishes it. Martin just wrote me your previous readings checking correct on formation and everything. Geo Klingensmith just came in. He is doing well in Florida real estate. Will be back here for awhile in July send regards to you & folks. Tell Miss Davis watch her step. MBW

R6. 6/27/25 EC’s letter to Mr. Wyrick:

My dear Mr. Wyrick:-

Received your letter this morning and expected to take the reading on the well this afternoon, but when we went to take the reading at our regular time, the enclosed was given as involuntary information. I’m in hopes this covers it in such a manner that will make it understandable in every way. I certainly am very much in hopes that this is going to work out alright. Certainly believe it will as yet. I wish I could see you and talk with you regarding the conditions, etc., before you go to Texas, but I’m sure you’ll let me hear from you as soon as you arrive there.

Please don’t hesitate to call on me any time that you think its possible that I might be of any help, for you know I’ll be only too glad to undertake it.

R7. 6/29/25 EC’s letter to Mr. Wyrick:

My dear Mr. Wyrick:-

Just a little note to thank you for yours of the 27th. This seems to me, though they’re having their troubles, still encouraging. While its true enough we need the oil rather than encouragement, but its certainly well enough to have a little bit of this through these strenuous times.

I’m sure it is quite trying on Mr. Moran and Mr. Martin, and Mr. Moran must certainly be the right sort of a fellow, or he would have given up sometime ago, and I know Mr. Martin is certainly a “sticker” to say nothing of your own self and associates, but I can’t help but feel like that we may yet get one worth while, even though we may have to tap a pool belonging to some Chinamen garage. I just hope this trouble they’ve had in the Northwest hasn’t reached down that far, unless it is to bring a greater quantity of oil to our hole. I’m very much of the opinion that when we do get it we’ll bring in about the whole pool from the Northwest.

We had a note from George a few days ago and didn’t know that he contemplated going on the Chicago. I certainly hope things are going alright with George, for he deserves it.
