EC: With the continued study of these experiences, there comes a change in the attitude of others.

Amos, with the first show of interest passed, resents the interest the girls show in this seemingly uncouth, uneducated boy. He begins to find fault with conditions, and breaks away from the various meetings. This makes new impressions upon the fathers of the group, and they began to wonder and study the social side of conditions fast arising.

One evening, after engaging in much revelry and drink, Amos suddenly enters the home where the girls, with the assistance of Abe, are attempting to play the music first played by Abe, which, apparently, is the key to the connection of the whole group in some former sphere.

Amos becomes very rough in language and in action. James resents this but the fathers are finally asked to intercede.

There is much banter between the members of the group. Abe suggests this: Are the experiences to bring good or evil?

Amos, Jr., retorts with these:
Why do the girls neglect their social engagements? Why does the interest in such cause everyone to appear so strange to others? Why does this cause other people to appear disinterested? Why does this cause business to be neglected? Why does it cause Uncle John to appear living in the paste? Is not this all a myth? Isn’t this something that should be left for older people? Why should we become as outcasts among out social set? Why should CATHERINE give HER time to the study of NOTHING with this ignorant wanders? Why all of the secrecy? Why all of the turmoil?
- After this outburst on the part of Amos, Jr., we find all begin to study condiitons from an individual viewpoint and attempt to take a deeper interest in their daily lives, as had been lived before this had entered.
