R1. 10/11 Affidavit:

INTRODUCTION

Hopkinsville, Ky., October, 1911.

DEAR FRIEND:

In answer to your inquiry received at this office relative to the ability of Edgar Cayce to diagnose and recommend treatment for disease.

We wish to state that the publicity came at a time when the experimenting was only partially completed, but as the cases treated according to his diagnoses have responded beyond our highest expectation as evidenced by a volume of testimonials and affidavits both from patients and physicians. We feel that in doing further research work our field of usefulness can be gradually extended beyond the confines of his native state and we hope to be able to benefit some hopeless sufferer in your vicinity. Mr. Cayce’s method is unique and so far as we have been able to learn he stands alone in his particular field. All of Mr. Cayce’s work is done while under self imposed hypnotism using correct medical terms and describing the case under observation just as though he was looking into the different organs and describing same in technical language as evidenced by the following:

Mrs. A. C. N., age 30, Nov. 11, 1910; no children, had never been examined.

“The cause of all the trouble in this body lies in the pelvis, as a result we have reflex neurotic trouble which completely wrecks her nerves at times, especially when these organs become engorged, once a month when they are aggravated and cause all sorts of trouble. The trouble here is local but the effect is all over the whole system. Accompanying this we find severe pain across the upper lumbars, just above the hips, a pulling down feeling, pains run down the legs to the knee, we also find pains between the shoulders along the spine and severe headache on top of the head. The trouble is all confined to the womb, ovaries are not effected.

“Treatment - A slight operation will be necessary to remove this trouble. This body will not be well until this is done as the condition here is responsible for entire trouble. The trouble in her back will then clear away slowly after lesion in pelvis is removed.” Immediately following this Mr. N. called in a surgeon to examine his wife, which he did most thoroughly, following which he told Mr. N. “That nothing except an operation would avail any results in his wife’s case.” And Mr. N. promptly notified us by telephone and when the operation was to be performed. Mrs. N. entered a hospital early in 1911 and operation was performed. At this writing Mrs. N. states that she has entirely recovered her health.
