R1. 8/9/45 Dr. Alfred Durham’s letter to HLC:
Dr. Alfred Duke Durham Osteopathic Physician 425-426 Pittsburgh Life Building Pittsburgh, Pa.
Association for Research and Enlightenment Virginia Beach, Virginia Attention Mr. Cayce:
Dear Sir:
When one of my patients told me of your father’s death I was truly sorry to learn of his demise. Away back in the days when he was living in Bowling Green I knew him very well, that is up to the time when I left home in the Spring of 1903.
Had I established my practice in Kentucky it is more than likely I would have cooperated in the work he carried out in the years that followed. John [4946] and Jim Blackburn are “cousins” of mine as we used to claim down to the third and fourth cousin bases.
You can easily imagine how fascinating I found the book “There Is A River”. As my practice includes “sitology” if I may use a 25 cent word, I am sure Edgar would have been inclined to investigate my kelp, alfalfa and parsley formula which is remarkably rich in organic iodine.
If it is your pleasure, keep me informed regarding your further investigations and findings. If you have occasion to be in Pittsburgh I hope you will call on me.
Sincerely yours, [signed] A. D. Durham, D.O.
