R1. 1/24/21 Mrs. [265]‘s letter: “To Whom It May Concern: I wish to state that I have known Mr. Edgar Cayce for about twenty-five years, sometime before he discovered his psychological power. Am acquainted with his work in relieving and restoring many people, including himself. Have heard him give many readings when patients admitted he described conditions and symptoms better than they could themselves. I wish to mention especially Mrs. […]. Another, Mrs. [4962], whose case her doctors failed to understand. Mr. Cayce diagnosed correctly this case, giving treatment which was entirely successful. Another…”
R2. 3/27/73 GD’s note: Today in going through some old letters of Gertrude Cayce’s dating back to 1906 in Bowling Green, Ky., when she was a member of a Pen Pal Club, I came across this letter from Mrs. [4962] to Edgar Cayce as follows, dated
Feb. 19, 1908, Hopkinsville, Ky.
“Dear Edgar: Words will not begin to express my thanks to you for the kindness you have shown in giving me the readings. You can’t imagine what a load you have lifted off of my mind. I have suffered so much pain bodily and a great amount of mental strain until I was almost worn out. If ever I can in any way do you a kindness in the future, all you have to do is let me know, and I will be more than glad to do so. I called [husband [1103] at work] and told him what [his sister [760]] had telephoned me that you said, and he is much relieved as myself. We both thank you. Tell [760] and [538] that [1103] said he would call them up whenever he had anything new to report.” [4962]
R3. GD’s note: Nine days later, on February 28, 1908, her son [419] was born. Apparently her condition was connected with, or because of, pregnancy? I heard that she died when the little boy was still very young and he was brought up by his father’s sister, Mrs. [1795]. She, Mrs. [4962], had an older child, a girl [1312]. The only one living in her family now is her granddaughter [852], who does not know or remember any of the details.
