R1. 12/27/23 Mr. Armstrong’s ltr. to EC:
The City National Bank of Selma (Letterhead) Selma, Ala.
Mr. Edgar Cayce, 2411 East Fifth Street, Dayton, Ohio
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
Remembering that two or three years ago we asked for some information from you [4964-1 a Business Rdg. - no copy available] in reference to a shortage of $250.00 claimed by a certain bank depositor of ours, and that your help in this matter was useful to us, we are writing to you again to ask for some further assistance.
There has been occurring in our bank at intervals from three to six months, a shortage over our Receiving Teller’s desk, running from
50.00 to100.00. (I think at least three or four of these shortages have occurred.)They occur usually after a holiday, when there is a rush at the windows, a good deal of currency coming into the bank.
We believe that one person is effecting this shortage, and that he has a plan or system of putting it over.
The latest shortage ($100.00) occurred yesterday, through Mr. […]‘s window [12/26/23].
We are writing to ask if you cannot endeavor to assist us in locating the origin of this trouble.
Yours very truly, H. C. Armstrong, President
