R1. 1/22/21 W. E. DeLaney’s letter to David E. Kahn:

KENTUCKY LUMBER COMPANY INCORPORATED ROUGH AND DRESSED HARDWOOD LUMBER 606-608 SECURITY TRUST BUILDING LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY

Mr. David Kahn, New York, N.Y.

Dear Mr. Kahn:-

Your brother was in my office this morning, requesting that I give you an affidavit as to the work done by Mr. Edgar Cayce in connection with the illness of Mrs. DeLaney.

Will simply make statement in this letter and place notary acknowledgement at the bottom.

Mrs. DeLaney has been a sufferer for a number of years; and several years ago I heard of the ability of Dr. Cayce, and requested that he come to Lexington, which he did. He was the first to correctly diagnose Mrs. DeLaney’s trouble; altho’ she had been to a number of physicians throughout the country. He advised several treatments, which were of considerable benefit to her; however, did not result in a cure.

As a result of my acquaintance with Dr. Cayce in connection with this work; I have no hesitancy in saying, that he has wonderful hidden power; in addition, I am sure he is a gentleman, whose judgement can be relied upon.

R2. GD’s note: From hearing DEK mention this case, I believe she was a wheel chair patient, partially paralyzed, couldn’t do her own hair at first but was later able to, after following the readings.

R3. 1/10/27 DEK wrote that Mrs. [3750] was in a similar condition, not as bad.

R6. 7/22/2002 JT’s note: D.D. Cayce of Hopkinsville, Kentucky sent in the following two obituaries for ECF files.

LEXINGTON LEADER Sunday April 20, 1930, page 2, column 6:

“MRS. DELANEY RITES TO BE HELD MONDAY Accompanied by members of her family, the body of Mrs. Lillie Amos DeLaney, who died at her home, “Journey’s End” at Daytona Beach, Fla., Saturday morning, will be brought to Lexington. Interment will take place in the DeLaney family lot in Lexington cemetery.

Mrs. DeLaney is survived by her husband, William E. DeLaney, one son, William A. DeLaney, Columbia, Miss., and one brother Lafe Amos, Ironton, O.

Mrs. DeLaney came to Lexington 15 years ago when her husband moved the office of the Kentucky Lumber Company, of which he was president, to this city. They had resided in Florida for three years.”

LEXINGTON HERALD April 20, 1930, page 3, column 5:

“Mrs. Lillie DeLaney The body of Mrs. Lillie Amos DeLaney, formerly of Lexington, who died at her home, “Journey’s End,” at Daytona Beach, Fla. Saturday, will arrive in Lexington this morning at 5:10 o’clock accompanied by relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. DeLaney will be conducted at the W.R. Milward Mortuary this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. The Rt. Rev. H.P. Almon Abbott, bishop of the Episcopal diocese of Lexington, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot of the Lexington cemetery.

Mrs. DeLaney moved from Lexington three years ago to her late Home in Florida. She was the wife of W.E. DeLaney, president Of the Kentucky Lumber Company. Her husband and a brother, Lafe Amos, of Ironton, O., survive her.”
