This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by the father - Mr. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes. As we find, conditions here are prenatal - or from conditions or developments during the period of gestation, or the lack of same.

2. These have brought about the static conditions in the centers between sympathetic and cerebrospinal systems, as to their coordinating. Thus the activities that are voluntary and involuntary are not in accord; which we find indicated in the inability for control of locomotories as well as the controlling of the organs of the sensory system.

3. We would find improvements for the body if there would be the use of the low Wet Cell Appliance consistently for six months at a time, using also the Gold Solution as an aid, and a thorough massage following each of these treatments.

4. While there is a possibility of some outgrowing of these conditions, we find that unless there are some changes there will be the lack of coordination in some portion of the body. But with the use of these vibrations from the Gold there should be the ability to bring near to correct coordination, even though a very much retarded development.

5. Attach the Appliance for thirty minutes each day, at a regular period, preferably just before retiring. The Gold Solution would be prepared in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold Sodium to each ounce of Distilled Water, and use at least three ounces. The large nickel plate, through which the Gold Solution passes vibratorially, would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus, or for this body just one finger - the width of the mother’s finger - from the navel center to the right and one finger up from that point. The small plate would be attached to the lumbar center.

6. Renew the Appliance, recharging it every thirty days. Also change the Gold Solution every thirty days.

7. Do take the connections out of the solution when not in use. Put these together about twenty minutes before the attachments are to be made to the body. Keep the plates very clean, polishing them with the emery paper each time before attaching and each time when removing from the body.

8. Each day when removing the Appliance, give the body a massage with Cocoa Butter. This should be especially in the area of the upper dorsals and through the cervicals and across the lumbar areas. Be consistent with this. Do not hurry through with it, but let it be on each side of the cerebrospinal system, very thoroughly. Massage downward from the base of head and over the limbs, and the coccyx area upward to the 9th dorsal. Rub downward from the base of the brain to the 9th dorsal, you see, then rub upward from the end of the spine to the 9th dorsal.

9. Doing these, being consistent, we should make better conditions.

10. Keep the diets that are normally body-building.

12. (Q) Did the pneumonia and the high fever affect her brain? (A) It affected rather the reflexes. It has not acted so much upon the brain as upon reflexes in those centers to the sympathetic and cerebrospinal system, as indicated in the areas of the upper dorsal and lumbar axis. This contributed to the conditions that were prenatal in the body-forces.

13. (Q) If these applications are correctly followed, can the body eventually become near normal? (A) Read what we have just indicated. After six months there should be improvement, but there must be persistence in giving these - not just doing it haphazardly. Following these, we will bring help.

R1. 5/24/44 GD’s note: Today Mr. A. M. Godfrey told me that the father of [5006] had ordered from him the Wet Cell Appliance.

R2. 3/3/45 Letter from [5006]‘s father (a corporal in the Army) to EC: ”…Last April I had a reading for my daughter. We have finished the six months’ treatment that was recommended. This is the first I have seen her since last March and I think there is an improvement. She seems more active and can use her hands quite a bit better. Her back is stronger, for she’s able to hold her head up better and for a longer time without tiring. On the whole, I think she is showing a definite improvement. I would like to secure another reading for her.”

R3. 3/9/45 GD sent a form letter explaining about EC’s death on 1/3/45, urging him to continue the treatment for his daughter since she had already shown improvement; asking if he wished to apply the amt. sent for the Ck. Rdg. on a membership, apply it on publications from our list, or have it returned.

R4. 4/14/45 He requested that we deduct the publications he checked and send them to him with the balance.

R5. 4/10/50 GD sent Questionnaire asking for up-to-date report on his daughter, enclosing self-addressed stamped envelope for reply. (This was done in an all-out effort to get reports from those who had not kept in touch.) The letter was returned marked ADDRESS UNKNOWN.

B1. 1/31/44 Letter from [5006]‘s father to EC: ”…She is now three and a half years old. When she was eight months old she very nearly died from pneumonia. The disease left her unable to sit up and for a long time she was unable to hold her head up at all. But this seems to be getting a little better. The doctors say the high fever affected her brain and she may grow out of it. She is unable to talk as yet. Walking or even standing up is completely out of the question. We have taken her to the Cleveland Clinic and they’ve gone over her completely - the results are the same. They did recommend a sun lamp and it seems to have increased her resistance to colds. Our family is of no particular faith. The baby’s mother was Catholic so the baby has been baptized in that religion. The baby is adopted. I myself have always been more or less of an agnostic. But I must say your conception of the ‘scheme of things’ as outlined in There is a River seems more natural than anything I’ve ever run across…”
