GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5039].
-
As we find, there are disturbances that interfere with the better physical functioning. These, as we find, the real sources of same, are from subluxations existing in the upper dorsal areas. The incoordination between sympathetic and cerebrospinal system in this area brings rather definite disturbances to the mucous membranes of throat, nasal passages and the lymph circulation through soft tissue of throat, head and the areas of antrum, nasal passages, even at times to the mastoid areas. Unless these are changed they may eventually produce a greater disturbance to bronchi and larynx.
-
This makes the body very susceptible to inflammation as a result of pollens, dust and odors, for it accentuates the olfactory and the lymph circulation.
-
These, as we find, are the sources of the disturbances.
-
We would osteopathically correct the conditions through the cervical and upper dorsal area, coordinating the rest of the cerebrospinal system with same occasionally. Thus we will remove the sources.
-
For the acute conditions we would prepare an inhalant.
-
To four ounces of pure grain alcohol, add in the order named:
Oil of Eucalyptus…20 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp…3 minims, Compound Tincture of Benzoin…15 minims, Tolu in Solution…10 minims.
Put these ingredients in a six to eight ounce large-mouthed bottle, preferably prepared so that two vents may enter the container. These vents should be made with glass tubes or the like so that they may be corked tightly.
-
When this is to be inhaled in throat and nasal passages, remove both small corks, after shaking the solution, and inhale the fumes that arise from same. Do this once or twice or three times a day if there is irritation or the tendency for sneezing or the tendency for the lymph circulation to cause the excretions from the throat or the nasal passages.
-
Keep away from a great quantity of sweets or starches. Have very little Irish potatoes, then, though yams or the sweet potato may be taken, also turnips - but these in very small quantities and seldom. Little or no white bread. Doing these we will find that we will bring better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Would a change of climate make any difference? If so, what climate would be best? (A) Change of climate will be beneficial but you would have to remain where those pressures were such. But if the sources and causes will be removed, the body may remain in most any climate it chooses.
Do the things outlined and we will have better conditions for the body.
- We are through with this Reading.

Background
B1. 9/15/43 [5039]‘s letter: “Thank you for the communication received today. I have read the enclosed literature, and besides, have read the book ‘There Is A River’. I realize that anyone hoping for a reading must wait many weeks or perhaps months, but I should like to be given an appointment and wait my turn. I shall gladly take care of whatever fee is involved.
“I have had throat trouble over a period of years, and during the last couple of years have had daily attacks of hay fever to contend with. Since I am a minister, I have found this combination of trouble quite distressing at times, so far as my work is concerned. So far, I have had practically no help from medical science, though I have consulted a throat specialist in a nearby large city, and have taken extended treatment under a well-known allergist. Thus, in the light of my knowledge of your work, I turn to you and I shall be always grateful for whatever assistance you may be able to give. Since you suggest that those genuinely interested write again, I have done so.”
B2. 4/13/44 [5039]‘s letter: ”…During the hour set for my reading, I will be at …, Ohio. My specific trouble has to do with an allergic condition. I have daily sneezing spells, and daily intermittent spells of nasal congestion and water discharge, just as though I had a bad cold. I was rather recently under the care of a well-known allergist of a nearby large city for over 6 months, without making any real progress. Only by discovering the specific substances or the specific conditions which make for my allergic reactions, can I hope to find relief - by avoiding those substances or conditions. So, I would like to have these questions asked during my reading: (1) What specific substances, or what specific conditions are responsible for my allergic reactions? (2) How can these substances or these conditions be best avoided? For 17 or 18 years, since I was about 15 years old, I have had more or less trouble with my throat; not exactly a continual soreness, although at times that seems to describe it pretty well, but a more or less continual discomfort. Then about 2 years ago, I began to have some trouble occasionally with my voice, brief moments of a sort of tickling, during which time I had no use of my voice. These spells lasted only a few seconds. However, during the past few months, I have had practically no trouble of this latter kind. Now these questions: (3) What is the basis of my throat trouble? (4) Is it allergy? (5) Is it related to my nose trouble? In addition to the answers to these specific questions, I would be glad to have you give me any word on any subject which you think would be helpful. Thank you very much. I assure you that I await word from you with great eagerness.”
