This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [5060], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through Dr. [2288].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5060]; this we have had before. [No copy of previous readings on file.]

3. As we find, there are definite disturbances here. These relieved, we will find that the general welfare will be improved and many of the disturbances will be materially aided.

4. Through the periods of activity the action of the gall duct area has become, as it were, full of sediment; not so much stones but sediment; little activity of the excretory functionings as to supply sufficient quantity of the bile for the digestion of foods or oils for the body.

5. For an hour each day, for five days in succession, apply Castor Oil Packs over the liver and gall duct. Use at least three to four thicknesses of flannel saturated with Castor Oil. Apply these directly to the body and when covered, to prevent soiling linens, apply the electric pad. Keep these sufficiently warm as to cause the radiation to be absorbed through the area.

6. After the first pack is taken, begin taking small doses of Olive Oil, a teaspoonful every four hours. Keep this up for the five days.

7. Then leave off the Packs about a week, and then have another series, and so on.

8. After the first series (not before) we would begin with relaxing osteopathically the whole length of the cerebrospinal system.

9. Thus we will aid and prevent the headaches, nausea, the shortness of breath that occurs at times, make better eliminations, better activities through the whole system; gradually enabling the body to have the gall duct drained through the osteopathic method, you see.

10. Keep away from fats and heavy meats. Fish or fowl may be taken in moderation, but not fried.

11. Do increase the amount of the raw foods that would be taken, especially carrots and celery. These we would have oft prepared with gelatin, by being grated or cut and prepared in gelatin, or at times it would be well to juice these and just drink the juice.

12. These as we find will bring bettered conditions.

14. (Q) Are the kidneys involved? (A) Only sympathetically. There is the attempt of the kidneys to carry on part of the elimination that should be carried on by the activity of the liver. This causes the muscular pains and the neuritis at times, but with the setting up of drainages as should be done with the type of osteopathic treatments indicated, we will find that these conditions will gradually clear.

15. (Q) Can the rectal trouble be relieved, and how? (A) We would use this combination as an injection, for the disturbance in the sphincter muscles and nerves from which the hemorrhoids arise: To 1 ounce of Glycerine add 2 drops of Carbolic Acid. Stir or beat this very thoroughly, as with mortise and pestle. Then add 2 ounces of Usoline or Nujol. Use this in an ear syringe. Inject half of this amount at the time, in the rectal area. Do this and then apply the second quantity about a week to ten days later. This should be sufficient. But if there should recur the condition, prepare in the same proportions and manner, and use some six to eight weeks later.

R1. 5/5/44 Letter: “My sister and I are a bit puzzled not to have heard from you. You set April 21 as the date for our readings, and we had expected to have heard from you before this. We sincerely hope you are not ill. Far better than that would be a delayed letter. At any rate, we feel it is better that you know we have had no word from you.” [Note: The files have no record of a reply to this letter. Due to increased demand for readings during 1943-1944, the transcription of [5060]‘s Physical Reading was not mailed to her promptly.]

R2. 3/22/50 Questionnaire sent. No reply.

R3. 1/11/51 IMG’s questionnaire-letter sent to Dr. [2288]‘s wife: “In March 1950, questionnaires were sent to Mrs. [5060] and her sister Mrs. [5059]. Since there are no replies from either of them, we wonder whether they received such questionnaires.

“Knowing of your interest in Mrs. [5060], we are writing you for any information you may have concerning these individuals. We are also enclosing a copy of Mrs. [5060]‘s letter dated 1/26/44. You will note in that letter that a number of people were given readings. Unfortunately, our files have no record of such readings; furthermore, there is no record of readings given for Mrs. [5060] and her sister previous to their Physical Readings of 4/21/44.

“Under the circumstances, can you help us get copies of any of these readings? If that is not possible, we would appreciate receiving fragmentary notes, background information, or the circumstances under which such readings were given. This would be of great value to our files…”

B1. 1/26/44 Letter: “Some time ago I wrote you for my sister Mrs. [5059]. I was writing for her for she cannot see well enough to write herself. I am Mrs. [5060], and we both knew you during the days you lived in Bowling Green. You gave a reading for our father, Mr. [4939], and also for a Mrs. [4940] in our home. Afterward we were present in a reading for a blind girl, a Miss [4941], and also a reading in search of a lead mine on the [4941] place. In all these readings, I served as stenographer, and from then till now have had profound faith in this wonderful power which you possess, and have always believed, and do now, that the Lord is trying to give the world something wonderful through you and except for the denseness and the bigotry of the mind of man, the world would have more understanding of it by now.

“We have read ‘There Is A River’, and Mrs. [5059] had it reviewed in the Current Events Club by a friend as her program. Because of her eyes, she was not able to do it herself. It was greatly enjoyed. Dr. [4946] by the way, was present. I told in that meeting the things I had seen you do. We have recently been so interested in your work for Dr. [2288], a nephew. They are busy trying to get him off to Arizona. At present he is hardly strong enough to start, but is gaining a little. Forgive this lengthy chat… Enclosed find check for membership in the ARE; also $10. check for a reading for Mrs. [5059], my sister. This is as we have understood the requirement from your literature. My sister Mrs. [5059] has almost lost her eyesight. Doctors hold out little hope and say there is little that can be done. If only we can find a remedy in time, before she goes blind. At present nothing is being done. She is taking osteopathy, her own decision and judgement. I understand you are far behind in your readings. We must not ask for or expect special favors, for there is urgency in every case, but we shall be so glad when you get to her reading that we may have more hope. I have the belief that you are under direction of the Lord and are walking in His will.” Sincerely yours, [5060]

B2. 1/31/44 EC’s reply: “Thank you for yours of the 26th. I am glad that you took time to write me. We are very busy, and have a lot of mail to read, but there is always something about hearing from those whom we think so much of. I would like very much to help you and your sister, Mrs. [5059]. Our first open period is… Be sure to keep the period in silence and meditation…”

B3. 2/5/44 Dr. [2288]‘s wife’s letter: “I am writing for a very good friend, Mrs. [5060] who is quite sick and unable to write for herself. She wishes me to send you the enclosed blanks…

“I am worried about Mrs. [5060] as, through my husband, I know that her trouble is one of those obscure ones. She is very dear to me, and I do hope you can do something for her. She has had about 5 of these acute attacks in the past 12 weeks, and is so anxious to be relieved. In case a vacancy should appear in your schedule earlier than April 21, she would so appreciate it if you would give that time to her. If such an occasion arises, just send her a wire collect, and she will be ready. What is the condition of the gall bladder?” [The additional questions submitted are at the end of 5060-1.]
